There, i have pontificated again, and i promised myself to stop doing it....

why  ;D ................ like you said

we are all together in the same mud ball boat.

I realise that all peeps need to believe in something, but it never occurs to them to beleive in themselves, aaargh, what a WASTE!

that's because we have been told soo many times we need to look outside ouf ourselves
for all the important stuff...

why does that continue...cause we let it and cause the truth that we are 100% - totally responsible for ourselves..really does scare the begebers outta most

religion is the bed cover most  hide under.. from those monsters we were told were in the closet

it's not true humans..

think this guy

OK so i'm part Jedi Force (shao-lin at any rate :P ) and partly Buddhist... :P

This is why you feel at home here ;)

Tibetan Buddhists, the oldest tradition, are so close to Yoda and the Force and to Rosicrucian phylosophy that it is hard to separate...

The key point though is that EVERYONE is on their own path.  Sometimes we share paths, sometimes we cross paths, and sometimes we walk the same path for a time...

But if you cannot discuss your beliefs without getting riled up, then you should seriously examine your belief, because if it doesn't withstand the test of conversation, then is it of any value?

I was born Lutheran but started asking at an early age.  I started with local priests but soon found that all they offered was platitudes and programmed answers

Oddly enough my first two serious questions as a kid were "How many animals got on the ark" and "If Adam and Eve had two sons and If Cain killed Able, where did Cain's wife and all her people come from and how did he get away with murder?"

So finding that the priests had less answers than I did... I went higher up the chain  and I found that I could speak to Rabbis, Monsigneurs and Imam's and get real answers and NEVER ONCE  not EVER did one of these try to convert me... They simply answered my questions and invited me back anytime

I once saved a Mormon's life (not really but he thought so... I merely got him to the ski patrol but he wasn't in life threating situation yet)  As a reward he introduced me to his elders in Salt Lake. This allowed me a rare opportunity to ask questions at the inner Temple level  and to my surprise the higher echelons have a different view much closer to my own

In Tibet  a Lama once talked to an acolyte...  he pointed out over the Potala yard and said.. "See all those Monks out there turning the prayer wheels? For them that is all the religion they understand, and it is all the religion they will ever need"  When the Dalai Lama was in exile and sojourned in Toronto, I had a brief moment to meet him. Sadly I didn't get a chance for a long audience

When the Bible Thumpers come knocking at the door  try this.... ask them some pointed questions and see how they respond.  Better yet ask them to leave their material, tell them you will look it over and have them come back

Then when they return you can ask them questions  You will find that 99% of them do not know what is in their own material. Then you can send them packing and say "Don't come back until you know what your peddling" :D  Works really well  they put you on a 'do not call' list :D

No one religion holds the Keys of Heaven, nor will one be forever damned because they entered a Church with their hat on instead of taking their shoes off. In Tibet, lamaseries entrances bear the inscription "A thousand monks, a thousand religions". Believe what you will, if it embraces "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" you will get by when the final call comes.

PWM, thanks, I am glad to hear what you said! Of course, I would like to hear sometime the details of your NDE experiences. There are to many with similar and varied elements to deny the specificity of what actually happens during an NDE.

All of us have walked a different road with a different set of teachers and teaching experiences to arrive at where we are now. A respect of those individual differences is more difficult for some than for others. If we learn to work closely together, one of the outcomes we we experience is, it is those differences that tend to make the outcomes more strong!

Literal translations do not always work.
I have been doing translations to and from English, French and Portuguese, using automated translations systems to do it faster, and I can tell you that it's more like "literal translations rarely work". :)

Holy Crap.....(bites tongue)

Last time I chimed in with a cute video about religion, I was censored and told to cease and desist.....by a bible thumper.

Guess control and lording over the laity is an inherent flaw in the RELIGIDIOT psyche.

Some great minds at work in this thread, hope some of the better replies dont get censored......

The World Is Building Up To Something....

TOO RIGHT...

ITS KILLER PENGUINS!!

killer penguins i tells ya

"Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration – that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."

I gave You gold for this, z.  WONDERFUL assessment, to which I fully ascribe.  We are all blind Humans assessing the elephant of divinity.
"If the universe is made of mostly Dark Energy...can We use it to run Our cars?"

"If You want peace, take the profit out of war."

Agreed, Amy, Zorgon hits it right on.....poking fun and cruel ribbing are different ends of the same thing, polarity defined.

Speaking of elephants, is there a Ganesh in the house?

We need your smiling visage right about now oh pachyderm of proper personal penchants.
