"who can tell me the meaning of life"?

From a Christian's point of view:

The "meaning of life" in the beginning of life was to be with God. God made man to be with Him.

Man disobeyed God, and with that disobedience sin has entered into all of man.

From that time, God set forth a plan for the redemption of his man that could not/would not be an action apart from his Word. The scope of God's prophetic plan included man's lineage up to a point of his Son Jesus being born to become HIS "blood sacrifice" for the forgiveness of his man's sin. Jesus died as the sacrifice for all men, at the hand of those enabled by satan.

But, actually Jesus was himself sinless, thus not under the death penalty of sin. Therefore the grave/satan could not hold him, and Jesus arose from the dead, and was seen by hundreds before finally returning to Heaven.

And according to the Word, all of man allegorically died with Jesus on the cross, are now forgiven/freed from the condemnation of sin, and all those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior actually receive that forgiveness, and receive the promise of eternal "LIFE" with God.

Yes, that is the way of Jesus Christ, and there is no forgiveness of sin apart from a person accepting Him.

One must ask, how come mankind has been around for thousands of years and never crawled out of the dark ages till just a couple hundred years ago and the 20th century erupted in such a rush. What kept mankind down for all those centuries.

Unless it was all a lie and history is made up because the reality of the controllers is, they can insert any essence into a time frame anywhere in a life sentence by an interface device which could be nothing more than a soul interface from spiritual Ethereal to physical. It's NOT so much a matter of an Increased Knowledge, but rather the direction of knowledge...

It is purely "Propaganda" which urges us to believe, those who were around before 300 Years ago, were Primitive.   
Their knowledge was just different that's all !

I think it's more the opposite, humans like to believe that they have something that they can use to help them is any situation, and they have several candidates for that (aliens, god(s), technology, etc.).
