I selected the color of that "rock."  The one that it is mostly of.  Only spots of the shadows popped with that color - and a solid shape (that "rock") that should be in the sun.

"Should be in the sun"? What do you mean by that?

It is definitely manipulated.  Unless it's natural color just so happens to be exactly the same as part of shadows on everything else, and it's coloration shifted to accommodate  the shading it should have - astronomically unlikely.

That side of the rock is in the shadow, that's not the rocks colour.

And you didn't answer my question: did you replace just one RGB value with green or did you replace more than one with green? I have to ask because you didn't say how you did it.

I want to say that I think I was in error, seeing the dark area as being on top, when long exam suggests it's a rock curved such that sun would not hit that surface.  Second, I selected one color, but in My older version of Photoshop, I cannot define the tolerance of the selection.  So it may have selected hues close by as well.
