I've learned more and more...some good some bad. Some I don't care about (old age does that) prioritize is the word.
I hope we have all learned a lot.  I have learned a lot here and at abovetopsecret.com even if the experience has been at times completely unfair on the membership at ATS at times  (where I fail to see why the rules are applied differently to pseudo sceptics than members perceived to be "believers").

Actually, [doom and gloom is] not that simple:
I tell you what is simple.  The Doom mongers have been telling me that one or more of the following is happening:

1.  World ending climate change or natural disaster.  We are still here.
2.  My freedom will be taken away.  I do what I like when I like.  Try to stop me if you dare!
3. Aliens will steal my soul or baby.  I have both still.
4. The government is out to get us.  It is the only thing protecting me from militant Islamist extremists.

I could go on but it is boring so I'll stop.  Get rid of the banking system.  Have a global citizens constitution.  Empower local communities as much as possible and administer only what you have to centrally.  That is all we as a species need to do.  Oh and colonise the Galaxy because we are running out of space.  Sounds easy doesn't it? :D ;)

Until that statement become a possible thing, would be wise have no more than one child per couple, at least for a generation or two.

Or we could breed like rabbits and force the colonisation of space to happen sooner. :P LOL

I dont think it would trigger "colonisation" to happen faster tho. Probably we would see our society becoming "nastier" and egocentric. And I think we all know what happens when there is too much people in a sinking ship without minor boats to cover it :P

Have a global citizens constitution.

You can have your world government, as long as it acknowledges my right to choose to have nothing whatsoever to do with it.  You can also enjoy dealing with the consequences, when it predictably and very quickly goes rogue, and you find yourself with no higher remedy or form of appeal.

I know you are extremely capable of compelling logic, Pimander; so I will ask you to explain this to me.  Given that the existing continental federations are as utterly and relentlessly psychopathic as they are, what guarantee could we have of an absence of said psychopathy, in the case of a government that was even larger, more concentrated, and less accountable to the general public?

I think you are misinterpreting what I am saying.  A decent constitution does not give a government rights but protects citizens from governments.  For example I would deny the right of any government to dictate what you do with your body or mind providing that does not harm other citizens.  I would also deny the rights of bankers and multi nationals to continue what you are doing regarding trade.  If you think that not having rules governing these bastards is a good thing then you are frankly out of touch with reality.  They will destroy any real civilisation if there are no rules.  A constitution is simply a set of rules.

I love research, researching any subject is difficult to let go once started. Time is the problem there. I love libraries have my whole life but again books and reading takes a lot of time.

I think calling anything paranoid or other such expressions today, a time when a person can be shot with an ice dart and given a "natural' heart attack for example is difficult.

I like to look at all possible sides to a thing from the farthest out there which is still a possibility, to the most mundane and then form my own opinion which comes also with a dose of my own personally trusted intuition.
