SOMETHING IS NOT QUITE RIGHT HERE......??

What the  Russian , Vladimir Markin said and what has been "printed and said" in this country are a bit different.

Quote:
Markin's article, according to the Moscow Times translation, reads: "We are not contending that they did not fly [to the moon], and simply made a film about it. But all of these scientific — or perhaps cultural — artifacts are part of the legacy of humanity, and their disappearance without a trace is our common loss. An investigation will reveal what happened."

Vladimir Markin's statement which appeared in the Russian newspaper Izvestia on Tuesday points to the argument that such investigation could  "reveal new insights into the historical space journeys."

The Moscow Times published a translation of Markin's original statement written in Russian talking about  Markin's  plan to  support a probe into the vanishing of  the original footage from the first moon landing in 1969 as well as the whereabouts of lunar rock, which was brought back to earth during several missions.

Markin is a spokesman for the government's official Investigative Committee.

Reportedly, NASA  is not the least  bothered.  In 2009, Reuters reported NASA's  admission to deleting the original video recordings of the first moon landing among 200,000 other tapes in order to save money.  However, NASA has since restored copies of the landing, using recordings derived from other sources such as CBS News. The organization says that due to restoration efforts, the recordings' quality is superior to the "lost" original video.

NASA  had also explained how the lunar soil and rock differ from that of the Earth's.  NASA's website quoted David McKay, chief scientist for planetary science and exploration at NASA's Johnson Space Center  in 2011 to have said: "They differ from Earth rocks in many respects."

In other words the Washington Post is mis-leading,(what a surprise...not >:( )

But the Russians ARE trying to OUT NASA and the US. I would't mind finding out what the Russians want to know , also.

Russian Official Proposes International Investigation Into U.S. Moon Landings

An international probe should be launched into various murky details surrounding the U.S. moon landings between 1969 and 1972, Russia's Investigative Committee spokesman said Tuesday.

Vladimir Markin penned a column for the Izvestia newspaper arguing that U.S. authorities had crossed a line by launching a large-scale corruption probe targeting nine FIFA officials. The scandal surrounding the case prompted the June 2 resignation of longtime FIFA president Sepp Blatter, and sparked a heated debate about Russia's role as host of the 2018 World Cup.

Venting his frustration with what he viewed as "U.S. prosecutors having declared themselves the supreme arbiters of international football affairs," Markin proposed that international investigators could likewise examine some of the murkier elements of America's past.

???????

An international investigation could help solve the mystery of the disappearance of film footage from the original moon landing in 1969, or explain where the nearly 400 kilograms of lunar rock reportedly obtained during several such missions between 1969 and 1972 have been spirited away to, Markin suggested.

"We are not contending that they did not fly [to the moon], and simply made a film about it. But all of these scientific — or perhaps cultural — artifacts are part of the legacy of humanity, and their disappearance without a trace is our common loss. An investigation will reveal what happened," Markin wrote.

U.S. space agency NASA admitted in 2009 that the original recordings of the first moon landing had been erased, but said they had managed to remaster the original television broadcast of the landing, Reuters reported at the time.

Of the approximately 380 kilograms of moon rock said to have been obtained during manned U.S. moon landings, the bulk is stored in the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Texas, though samples can be seen on display in various museums around the world.

My source for this was Richard Hoagland, who was on C2C last night, then I had to get up and see what I could find to dis or confirm .    :o

Personally I have always thought they faked the original and went later when they could,  but that way they WON the race. Having hollywood on your side would certainly help!
I think you might be right.  The problem is that to admit a lie so big is tough to do when that much money is involved and people lost their lives.

Laser reflectors on the moon? Well easy enough for the secret space program to plant something :P Heck the Russians dropped several reflectors up there  Jack found the missing one  200 miles from where it was supposed to be :D

Get a copy of National Geographic from December, 1966. You can show it to anyone who brings up the Apollo "laser reflector" that their reflections were being measured since at least 1962 – that's 7 years before Apollo 11

QuoteFour years ago, a ruby laser considerably smaller than those now available shot a series of pulses at the moon, 240,000 miles away. The beams illuminated a spot less than two miles in diameter and were reflected back to earth with enough strength to be measured by ultrasensitive electronic equipment.

QuoteThe retroreflectors are also shown as a proof that the astronauts landed on the moon.

Once again, this proof looks rather ridiculous.

These retroreflectors are too small to be good reflectors of a laser beam sent from the earth, and they are not even orientable.

Furthermore they are not even needed to make the laser beam bounce on the moon.

The MIT & the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory both succeeded in bouncing lasers off the moon and back to earth - without retro-reflectors - long before Apollo 11.

So yeah, the reflectors are not that good as a "proof" they went there. (Im not saying they dont, just find hard to believe that the images they showed to us are the real deal)

I would not consider that petty, if the world had been lied to in order to humiliate the russians!
Personally I have always thought they faked the original and went later when they could,  but that way they WON the race.

My take is they went there but the images they provided do not correspond to the reality.

QuoteHaving hollywood on your side would certainly help!

Well put the Star Wars theme song in the "animation" bellow and you can add to the original movie   :D :P
