Did you read the article? " Ghost species" of " proto humans" that are not in the fossil record, that left no traces of their existence...
That leaves one to ponder how he came to that conclusion

Soma, considering many different sources have claimed for years that outsiders manipulated our ancestors' DNA to produce good ol' homo sap, who knows?
And now we have individuals claiming that refugees from Mars actually came here long ago and colonized our little blue ball...and that the proof of such has been discovered in Antarctica...

and the old fairy tales(?) say that mars was just one of the races that came here
the last one I remember reading about was the russian boy who remembers being from mars
the natives of most countries have stories of being from elsewhere originally
all the old mythology..before tv and comics rewrote them

I noticed that, ArMap; the line of distinction appears to be a group of "homonids"- using that as a search term, this group is pre-human, before homo-sapien came into being;
So my take is that none of the test group were human; yet. My issue with this research is the way they worded the discourse; "ghost species" of "proto-humans" means, to me, that something changed and they don't have a clue what, they just want to talk about the fact that they think they found where something changed, but really don't know what, or why.
