Good morning everyone 8) Today it is a refreshing 62 degrees here in NW Georgia
Out in the Atlantic we have Hurricane Dorian, Cat ! so far, that managed to miss Puerta Rico but did smack the Virgin Islands on the way by...
caught part of a news clip showing a volcanic eruption, possibly in Italy...
Share any interesting tidbits about weather or local events here for daily gossip :P
Dorian is projected to reach Cat 4 before making landfall, possibly in an area that extends from Miami all the way up to south Georgia or the Carolinas; they still don't know, still too far out to do more than guess...
It would be just fine if it decides to make a sharp turn to the north and heads towards Greenland 8)

Probably not Seeker, more likely it'll skip through Florida into the Gulf. Then if that happens, I'll be praying it takes a northerly turn into the Florida panhandle and then pay you a visit. ;D ;)

It's
Almada, and, although not a Mediterranean climate, we do have a mild climate, being mostly under the influence of the Atlantic ocean and the North of Africa (from time to time we get dust from North Africa dust storms). We are more or less at the same latitude and relative position to the ocean as San Francisco and we have a bridge similar to Golden Gate. :)

In the photo above, Almada is in the foreground, Seixal (a different city) in the background. I live near the blue building (a theatre) to the left.
As for climate, the coldest temperature we had here was 0º C (32º F), the hottest 42º C (107.6º F). In Winter the average low is 8.5º C (47.3º F) and the average high in Summer is 38º C (100.4º F).
We don't get much rain, with an average 121 mm (4.7 inches) of rain in December and only 6 mm (0.24 inches) in July.

Dorian still seems to be the main focus in the Southeast USA, 120 mph Cat 3, and is it ever going to move or is it just going to continue to sit over the Bahamas?
Meanwhile, here in Georgia, we are having night time temps in the low 70's-upper 60's but day time highs in the upper 90's

They don't know, they lost communication with the lander, so they do not know if it landed as expected or crashed.
The orbiter has located it on the Moon's surface by thermal imaging, but they don't know if it's upright (the only way it could keep charging the batteries) or not, they still can't communicate with it.

According to this (https://www.cargopedia.net/europe-fuel-prices), the higher price in Europe is 1.702 Euros, in Iceland.
The problem some countries have is the price of gasoline when compared with the minimum wages for that country. In Portugal, for example, while a litre of gasoline costs around 1.469 Euros (according to the link above), the minimum wage is 600 Euros per month. In the Netherlands, the third country with the highest price for gasoline (1.621, according to that page) the minimum wage is 1642 Euros. That means that while the minimum wage in the Netherlands can buy 1012 litres of gasoline, in Portugal it can only buy 408.
Relatively, gasoline (like all other fuels) is very expensive in Portugal. Luckily, we don't have much cold. :)

That's the common situation in many countries, like Italy, for example.
In Italy, the Chamber of Deputies has members from 6 different parties and coalitions, and the two coalitions are composed of four and five parties, so the total parties represented in the chamber is 13. Those two coalitions are relatively recent, as they were created in the 1990s. Before that the normal situation was around 12 parties represented in the Chamber of Deputies.
In Portugal we have usually around 6 parties represented, but this year's elections saw the appearance of a few new parties, based on the (relative) success of other new parties across Europe, so now we have 9 parties represented in Parliament. There isn't a party with a clear majority, but, as usual, they make alliances between them (or, like last time, only an agreement between the left parties that allowed the Socialist Party to rule with the support of three other left parties), sometimes only for specific things like the annual budget.
Many parties does not mean chaos, although, in theory, it makes things harder to control. In practice, it allows things to work closer to real life, instead of being ruled by just two parties.

People who talk about subjects in which they have no experience
It is interesting listening to the opinions of people who watch the news (fake or not) and give their opinion based just on what they hear from others, the media and any other source.
Example 1: Armchair quarterbacking what a police officer can and cannot do in any scenario. Have you had the law courses that these men and women have gone through during the academy? Have you gone through regular annual training and training updates as they do during their employment? Ye, there is a minority of them that should not have been allowed to put on the badge. The majority follow the laws your elected law makers have put forth in their daily workings within the governmental structure. You elected them! They make the laws and Law Enforcement is duty bound to carry out those laws. I know you are entitled to your opinion but maybe you want to think about an opinion (key word is "think" before you open your mouth). It make you look like you don't know what your are talking about.
Example 2: Corrections Officers have to take law courses in their academies also and know what they can and cannot do during their employment. Have you been in their shoes and walked the beat? Have you dealt with incarcerated human beings in a closed up environment? You virtually have to be a nanny and take care of all the problems associated with taking care of pinned up humans. Then improper or ineffective leadership in those environments can make the situation even more dangerous to those working the environment;
Example 3: Military Personnel do not make policy! Lawmakers make policy and the military carries out that policy. You elected the lawmakers and the military follows that policy given to them by those people you elected. So, don't blame the military for the policy failures.
Example 4: The President was elected by the people. Do you have the knowledge to run a nation? Do you really know how the 3 parts of the government are supposed to work? Do you actually know the various parts of the Constitution that apply to CITIZENS? Do you really know the limitations of Presidential power? Do you really know the limitations of each branch of the government?. The public school system used to teach these subjects. It was called, "CIVICS" classes.
I think you get the point. Everyone is entitled to their opinion in a supposed free society. No society is or can be absolutely free or you have anarchy. There must be some limits to people's actions. It is apparent that our society is departing from any values at all. We have gone from a Republic governed by the law to a Democratic society (Rome had that and they fell) to a form of socialism (they called it Democratic Socialism) where the government controls goods and services etc.. and then Communism where everything belongs to the government. So, in the end, we get the government we elected (supposedly).
If you actually do research, do not rely on one source or sources where on a particular subject the wording is verbatim. The information comes from one source most of the time. Use various resources to look at a certain subject. For instance, SNOPES, POLITIFACT and other organizations that have connections to one political party or another or connections with major corporations all have a certain agenda. From these particular organizations will come bias that fits what they want you to perceive in our world. In other words, they have their own agenda.
IN THE END, WE HAVE THE GOVERNMENT WE DESERVE ACCORDING TO OUR WAY OF THINKING OR THE THOUGHTS OF ORGANIZATION MUCH BIGGER THAN LIFE ITSELF. DON'T BE A LEMMING AND FOLLOW THE CROWD INTO A BOTTOMLESS CHASM!
If you don't become involved, you have already made a decision from your lack of involvement! You, therefore, have no argument because you chose to remain silent.

I realise this will be an unpopular opinion around here; but I'm honestly starting to think that even if you want to put in another Republican, (hence no, this isn't a partisan attack) you could do better than Trump.
The killing of Soleimani was irresponsible. There was no possible way to predict what the consequences of that might have been; and I'm not just talking about Iran here. What if Russia or China had decided that they also felt threatened by an American President arbitrarily executing foreign nationals by remote?
Before I get the usual responses from soldiers who become defensive about this, and think they need to respond by attempting to attack me; understand that my goal is not to be critical of you personally. It's quite the opposite.
I don't want another world war, and I don't understand how World War 3 would be any more beneficial to Americans than anyone else. I also think that, given the volatile nature of life on this planet in general right now, both Americans and the rest of the world urgently need an American President who is going to think a lot more carefully about the potential consequences of his actions; and not even just for other people, but for
Americans. You may not care about Iranians dying, but there are still American soldiers in Iraq, and provoking the Iranian government unnecessarily is going to put their lives in danger.
I ask you to also understand something else. I am not one of these Leftists who maniacally hates Trump because he doesn't tick all of the right ideological boxes when it comes to women and minorities, and who is determined to remove him from office, by any means available, purely because of that. I know there are people on the Left who have that attitude, and I think it is wrong. Before this issue with Iran, and before I also read about how strained relations with Russia have become, I honestly had no grievance with Trump whatsoever.
As an Australian, I think I'm qualified at the moment to say that we have more than enough other problems right now, without adding large scale war to the mix; especially if said war is unavoidable. I also realise that relations with Iran have been a problem for the American government for quite some time; and maybe there will eventually need to be a settling of accounts, but now is not a good time.
I don't know if LittleEnki still comes here, but in the past, this was the sort of post which he would respond to, and attempt to tell the author of said post that they didn't know what they were talking about. In pre-emptive response to that, I will say this.
If Americans go to war with Iran at any time soon, then the Australian Prime Minister is going to get a phone call from Washington, asking him to put the lives of Australian soldiers at risk. It might not be a large number of them, no; but it will be some. We have served in every American international conflict in living memory. So if people from my country are going to be asked to risk their lives in a war which the American government has started, then I believe that as an Australian, I am entitled to be critical of the American government for doing so, if I believe that said criticism is warranted.

The killing of Soleimani was irresponsible. There was no possible way to predict what the consequences of that might have been; and I'm not just talking about Iran here. What if Russia or China had decided that they also felt threatened by an American President arbitrarily executing foreign nationals by remote?
As new reports have come out, this action was NOT irresponsible, as it was disclosed that the person was instituting/planning attacks on 4 embassies. He was also responsible for killing 608 U.S. troops during the Iraq War, with Soleimani responsible for 17 percent of all deaths of U.S. personnel in Iraq between 2003 and 2011. He was also responsible for the development of EFP's (explosively formed projectile) and the use of said weapon on US Troops.
Also you are entitled to your opinion whether I agree or disagree.

Petrus, as Sarge pointed out, it definitely was not irresponsible; Potus 43 or 44 should have nailed him years ago, and didn't...
Just recently Iran has been pulling the cat's tail without any backlash, shot down drones, taking tankers hostage, blew up the Saudi oil production facilities, all plotted and pushed by Solemini, all acts that could have drawn attacks from the US, but these didn't take any American lives
Last week an American contractor was killed, plus Solemini was yapping about what his terrorist buddies were about to do
as for killing by remote? Really? Obama took out dozens of people by drone...
Iran can't afford a war, have said they don't want war; The US doesn't want a war either, but don't mess with our citizens

QuoteOne of the Americans evacuated from Wuhan, China, amid the coronavirus outbreak has been placed under quarantine after trying to leave March Air Reserve Base, where a chartered flight landed the previous day, Riverside County health officials said Thursday.
The approximately 200 American passengers on the plane were asked to remain at the military base so they could be monitored for symptoms of the virus, but the person tried to leave, prompting the quarantine order from Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser, officials said.
As a result, the traveler will be required to "stay for the entire incubation period or until otherwise cleared," according to a statement from the agency. The incubation period is two weeks.
Yeah, I read the news release yesterday on TWC about world health declaration, and it discussed the State department chartering that flight to haul 200 state dept peeps to March AFB, also the measures being taken in China and around the area as air travel is being greatly curtailed to and from Wuhan

Just read a brief where all international travelers inbound to the US are being funneled thru 7 major airports for screening for this new virus; Delta is curtailing then suspending all it's flights to China, and American is greatly reducing its flights also
The numbers of reported cases are increasing, approaching 10,000 in China with 200+ fatalities
7 reported cases in the US so far
In other countries they are also receiving flights with people brought back from China in military bases, Brize Norton in the UK, Istres in France and Germersheim in Germany.
Portugal has some 17 people in China waiting to come back. One Portuguese living in China refused to come back to Portugal, saying he feels safe where he is.
The 16 (not 17) Portuguese that were in China have returned to Portugal on a flight from China to France. A military plane brought them to a military base, from where they were sent to two civilian hospitals. All 16 agreed to being quarantined (in Portugal nobody can be forced to go to the hospital, for whatever reason) for the next 14 days.

Probably on both sides, the official numbers and the people claiming the official numbers are wrong.
For example, the case of Tencent numbers. If the official numbers are not true why would the authorities supply Tencent with the real numbers? It makes no sense to do it.
The differences between Zero Hedge and RT are probably the result of different sources or the time the report was received.

Point to this that today all those quarantined at
March AFB were released. Not one of them were
found to be infected. Consequently, all those who
were there caring for and providing for those who
had returned from Wuhan were also cleared.
Wondering if this is a point to better numbers in

Let's add a little more detail to the coronavirus outbreak in China:
The first case was reported on December 8th, 2019

Let's look a little closer at covid-19, been almost a month since my last post on this:primarily at risk are individuals with compromised immune systems or chronic health issues, so normal healthy people are relatively low risk; it also has been reported that the virus has actually been here in the US for the last 6 or 7 weeks, just the people with it were not sick with it or from it, just positive for having the virus...
There are also reports that 1). China administered mass vaccinations to it's citizens in late July/August 2019; 2).also strong indications that Harvard Universities head of biology and chemistry conspired to help build a state of the art research facility in Wuhan province, 300 yards from the market where it is reported to have started, the same facility where the corona samples from Canada were allegedly taken to 3). The strain loose in China is reported to be a modified bioweapon strain, and the Chinese screwed up and let it loose...
The media is doing it's best to create panic in the US and throw a moncke wrench in the elections and the economy, being pushed by the demoncraptards...
on the surface it appears to be much ado about nothing, but being careful and vigilant, just in case...
Remain calm and vigilant people

Right now I am watching a documentary on Netflix called Pandemic. It's a series of ongoing fights against all types of viruses, the search for prevention, cures etc... education is a key. Educating others about the continuous fight that goes on. A lot of these viruses have an origin in the Far East and they come from animals a lot of the time. It is very educational to me.
With world travel as it is now, it becomes harder to contain. If you have Netflix, I recommend watching for educational purposes.

The implication is that it is purely due to a combination of his age and bad transits, however, and not because of any foul play on the part of the Left.
There are also rumblings that people are getting more and more tired of the Left's crap. Poland's government recently started declaring parts of the country "LGBT ideology free zones," despite the fact that homosexuality has apparently been polled with a roughly 75% approval rating. It seems that it isn't gays themselves who the Poles have issues with, but the attempt by the political lobby to take over the planet.

Linux is severely under attack by the LGBT front, as well. Linux's maintainer, Linus Torvalds, was effectively muzzled a year or so ago, and now a major transgender activist is attempting to impose a set of "ethical" rules, on both the development and use of open source software. The co-founder of the Open Source Institute, Eric Raymond, was recently banned (http://esr.ibiblio.org/?p=8609) from the OSI's mailing lists for committing thoughtcrimes.
Then there's the recent "Star Trek" Picard series. At the time, Discovery seemed like a devastating betrayal; but the Left were only getting started.

In just the last two days, an unbelievable defilement of Doctor Who has hit the airwaves as well, which has tried to completely de-legitimise the show's entire 50+ year history.
If the gay/trans activists keep this up, I could predict a violent, large scale backlash against them before too much longer. There are even other people in the gay community who themselves do not like what the political lobby is currently doing in their name; because they well know that if the rest of society gets sufficiently sick of it, they will end up being the target of public rage.

I doubt it, a weapon should spread fast and with the symptoms only appearing at the end of the transmission phase, so infected people are not aware of being infected and spread it for a long time before having any suspicion. Also, it should have a much higher mortality rate than this SARS-CoV-2.
On the Covid-19 front, we got the first cases here in Portugal this week, and now we have a total of 18, with no deaths. The number of new cases has been increasing, while the number of new cases also increases.
This morning, when I went to the closest supermarket (where we do our almost daily shopping) I didn't see any rush for supplies (they had plenty of toilet paper, for example), but I saw one woman with a mask (and a paper handkerchief over it).
Some people (the already known hypochondriacs, like my boss, that worries herself with silly things like putting plastic sheets in front of the desks of the people talking to the public, something that was refused by all employees) are worried about the virus, but most people do not care that much, they simply wash their hands and have some more caution.

Hi Mic 8)
I'm doing ok, just dealing with all the chaos associated with the corona cooties, we've been under a shelter in place order here since March 22nd, first by the local county authorities and then by Governor Brian Kemp until this past Friday, April 23rd, when he came under fire for releasing most of the restrictions state wide
I saw your comment about this being a scam to crash the world economy, and it has, so far, and comparatively speaking, it has not been as bad as the yearly flu; I get reports twice a day for my state detailing number of cases, new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, broken down by county(159 in Georgia) and by racial/ethnic groups and sex/age;
People over 60 with any health issues,i.e. cancer, diabetes, heart disease or issues,COPD, are the highest risk group and compromise the majority of fatalities
I will be more active in the future as things sort out around here; there are interesting things to discuss besides the cootie chaos 8)

Glad to hear that my friend.
Yes this cootie virus is getting old in a hurry. I do not live in fear of it, it just annoys me how so many people have fallen into the hysteria.
It shows the true colors of these politicians as they buy into the playbook.
At least your state is opening up, our dictator in our province has to have been a nazi in his prior life. Weird how so many people I know up here are in such fear, and they think he is doing such a great job "protecting us" from the evil virus..
Being fined or arrested for going to a public park and getting fresh air is not protecting us....
I would say our msm news at 6 is 90 percent about this scam. Other than catching the weather, I turn it off.
I keep watching and hoping that there is truth to the fact that there are charges and indictments coming towards many in the swamp. Hopefully POTUS and company can pull this off. It seems however that many that try and get too close to the "beast" end up "suiciding themselves"
