Well are we talking about 'movies' or 'tv series'?
The link is to the Tv Series starring Rock Hudson.
My favorite 'movie' is 'Forbidden Planet', followed closely by 'The Thing' (the original)

10.Moon
(Tv Series)

Here's a couple of more I thoroughly enjoyed:
The Day the Earth Stood Still (original)
War of the Worlds (original)
The Time Machine (original)
Journey to the Center of the Earth (original)
Them (Giant Ants)
Star Wars (all of them)
The Matrix (all of them)
Jupiter Ascending
Close Encounters
Prometheus (although Covent ruined it for me)
Edit: If you can get the deleted scenes for Prometheus, it makes for a better story.
They also have scenes of the crew training for the mission that is not included.
My all time fav' is Silent Running, Bruce Dern is so good in that film, then it would be close for the next 3, but I think Bladerunner (the original), Matrix (Original), Predator (Original), then as follows below -
Alien (Original)
Them
War of the Worlds (Original)
The day the Earth stood still (Original)
Strange Planet - The one with Robbie the Robot
All the Avengers Movies
TV Sci-fi Series
Space 1999
UFO
Thunderbirds (are GO!!)
Heros
X-Files
:) :D 8)

I agree on Silent Running being a good film.
I'm surprised no one has done a remake with today's special effects.

Hey Sgt! that is a great idea :) I wish I knew folk in the Hollywood world to suggest it :) but I would make one very small change to it, the mini-droid Hughie SPOILER ALERT ( I think it was) survives the storm ;) I would keep everything the same, not sure who would you cast for the Bruce Dern role m8?.. because he was brilliant!
**EDIT RE Droid identity - Freeman Lowell: [to Huey and Dewey] Poor Louie, God bless him... he's not with us anymore.
I think it would have to be an American actor but not sure who??
**EDIT - Maybe Owen Wilson could carry that character off ??

I was thinking Sam Rockwell for Dern's role and Seth Mcfarlane for Hughie and Dewey .
Nobody's mentioned 'The Time Bandits' yet. :)

Ah yes the Expanse. One of my favorites. Can't wait for the next season to start! One of the few new SciFi series that has an excellent story and great special effects.
I'll have to check that out.

Just binged watched Altered Carbon. While it took the first 2 episodes for me to figure out what was going on ;D, it turned out pretty well.
Brought back memories of the original Blade Runner. But excellent nonetheless.
Highly recommend it....(and yes there will be a second season) ;D

Hundreds of years in the future, things are different than what we are used to after humans have colonized the solar system and Mars has become an independent military power. Rising tensions between Earth and Mars have put them on the brink of war. Against this backdrop, a hardened detective and a rogue ship's captain come together to investigate the case of a missing young woman. The investigation leads them on a race across the solar system that could expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.

One of my all time favorites. And it's follow up movie 'Serenity' ;D
Based on Frank Herbert's epic novel "Dune" (1984), is a classic sci-fi movie not to be missed and is available on Amazon Prime.
From MediaWiki: In the year 10191, a spice called melange is the most valuable substance known in the universe, and its only source is the desert planet Arrakis (Dune).
A royal decree awards Arrakis to Duke Leto Atreides and ousts his bitter enemies, the Harkonnens. However, when the Harkonnens violently seize back their fiefdom, it is up to Paul, Leto's son, to lead the Fremen, the natives of Arrakis, in a battle for control of the planet and its spice.

I saw the movie and then the sci-fi channels version. While they were both good, I then read the book and that was incredible. Highly recommend the book. 8)

Agreed. The book was quite good.
Dune was an awesome novel, and unfortunately the movie makers just can't seem to due justice to a large number of novels turned into movies; Dune was one, and an even more glaring example is the Robert Heinlein novel "Starship troopers".
The book was excellent, the movie version sucked toenails...
A Novel I would like to see movitized is "Ringworld"

This is more of what they called Sci-Fi Drama. My favorite scene of any movie ever when it comes to ET. K-PAX Planetarium scene.
