Anyone reading my Roswell thread on the spookz site will notice a few interesting things.
- It 'blew up' in record time.
- The majority of the responses were 'wow I had no idea and I thought I knew a lot about Roswell'.
Well it turns out that there is even more to this story than what I have dredged up so far!!
Imagine taking a large crane and pulling The Titanic up slowly out of the sea, to where at this point you can only see the control tower so far.
That is exactly the point this investigation is at so far.
NO ONE has unearthed the full extent of this story yet, and the details lay hidden in your very own local library, newspaper headlines and clippings not seen for 65 years.
Many are one of a kind local sighting not reported in any others newspapers, along with covering the national stories of the day.
Also, many times I would find scads of details on a story in one paper, while another states paper barely covered the main parts.
If you are impressed with what you have seen in 'The Day before Roswell' so far, I invite you to join me in uncovering the rest of this giant jigsaw puzzle that is impossible to 'remove from the files' and is still available to the public.
No matter where you live in the world, in 1947 I am confident your local newspaper had something to say on the subject. Note in my thread there are sightings reported world- wide.
Here is only a partial list from a 2 week period in the summer, while the entire wave lasted 6 months -
(http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/7cd9d11f4e45.jpg)
The importance is of course -
This is where it all began... The Coverup and The Official Authorization to do so, and it being given priority above all else. (At all costs regardless)
The NEW experiment I mentioned in the title, is to see if PRC members are up the challenge of visiting your local library. ;D
(Careful, you might find more than you bargained for! ;) )

I would suggest too that when they are looking for information that to remember that sometimes you have to sort of go in an unexpected direction when you are looking for this information. Almost as if you have to avoid the front door. Linda
In most projects that is true Linda.
In this case it's much easier, just turn the wheels of the microfiche film and look for the words 'Flying Disc'. ;D
Not sure if I can make it to a library but will try. All year 1947?

Not sure if I can make it to a library but will try. All year 1947?
The -for sure- period is last week of June and first week of July 1947, scanning a few weeks either side of that usually produces a lot too. At least in the US that is true. In Hong Kong I found no mention of Flying Discs at all until 2 weeks AFTER Roswell, then scads were seen. (Not even the famous "Army Captures Flying Disc" story")
So other tour dates for the aliens around the world I can not be sure of.
The list of dates I have so far in my database for the US start in May and continue through September.
The Pentagon secretary handling the reports for 'Project Saucer' (as it was informally called in the beginning) indicated the Pentagon was aware of the Saucers as early as April.
I just posted a new clipping in my Roswell thread that shows what else you might find as Linda mentioned about keeping your eyes and ears open along the way.

We have a great library here in Largo, Fl, and there is a huge microfiche section, too.
Ill see what I can find this week, A51, and I have seen paper clippings of ufo stories before, when doing research for previous articles, but they were usually short clips with not much info for the effort, but as Sky Otter says, we have to look past the obvious, and see the truth behind it, so upstairs Ill go! I noticed several sightings were in Florida, so thats where Ill start.
Cool thread, as books are forever, and unless we burn them, they arent going anywhere!
Cheers!

so glad you mentioned this in the new avatar thread cause i had missed it..sigh
and i think it started before 1947
so my question is
do you want us to just stick to 47 or what
???

???
Yes for this project 47 is the focus.
But for some background, here is what I have found so far -
I of course was curious if anything preceded the Roswell wave.
We have 'ancient aliens' of course, but my current interest is by contrast 'modern aliens'. ;)
Information on the WWII 'Foo-Fighters' is slim and
most are of a 'small lights' and 'fireball' nature. However there is a solid disc report among them and the thing was huge!
In 46 there was an alarming 'ghost-rocket' wave in Sweden that was serious enough that Jimmy Doolittle personally went over for an investigation.
In 47 the evidence I have shows the sightings began in May and lasted until September.
But here's the catch -
People began seeing and reporting these discs in May,
BUT the newspapers thought these people were lone nut cases, and they were unaware of the other sightings being reported in other states because they too thought the people were lone nuts and
had not printed them also.
And so a backlog of sightings began to pile up, unprinted, in all these different news offices.
The Dam broke with the Kenneth Arnold sighting, (who was the first witness considered 'reliable' by the news corps) and then suddenly all reports were being published, current ones as well as those that they had been sitting on.
So - the main place to scan is from June 24 onward.
However... ya just never know! ;) ;D
Still going back to 46, and forward to early 48...why not? Its all there for the reading and isnt going anywhere!

By all means do! ;D
When the reports begin to appear :o you can't help but to look over your shoulder! LOL ;D
If you are very lucky you will find a local family name you will recognize as I did. Or... a name that should be easy to track down because of their position.
I have gotten lucky in this manner on several occasions and have contacted and met either the person making that report in the paper from so long ago, or their spouse or children.
The experience is pretty amazing. And much better than the shorthand notes that news clippings provide.
48 appears to be a huge wave of green fireballs which were unusual enough to alarm the military.
A -TS- conference was held on the matter with all the big shots in attendance (including Dr. Teller who wants to know the flying disc connection). More on that plus the transcript of that meeting in 'The Green Fireballs' thread here in this section.
Happy Hunting! ;D
well ok..don't say i never gave ya anything
since you ..well maybe it's just me..can't copy the articles to here
let me share a tool..i think most of us can use it to narrow the field just a bit to closer to home and what was the local news papers
while this is about my local paper from that time..the reference tool givin in the article can be used by all of us..

TechMan: Glory days of the Press can be found on Google
2012-03-28 20:05:09
inShare. By Ced Kurtz / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
There are many of us who still miss the The Pittsburgh Press.
Even TechMan, a Post-Gazette guy all the way, remembers with fondness the days when the scrappy little morning PG competed against staid Mother Press. In those days I always thought of the afternoon Press as a workingman's paper.
Well, I have some happy news. The Pittsburgh Press lives again -- at least its archives do, on the Web.
With the approval of the Post-Gazette, Google has begun to digitize the microfilm archives of the Press and post them on the Web. The Post-Gazette's permission was required because it owns the Press archives.
But Google doesn't make this material easy to find.
To locate it, go to the Google.com home page and click on "advanced search" to the right of the box where you enter your search terms.
On the resulting page click on "Google News archive search" in the bottom left-hand corner of the page.
On the resulting page, click on "advanced archive search," again to the right of the search box.
Or you can just go to news.google.com/archivesearch/advanced_search (see below for easy ) if you're better than I am at typing long URLs. In either case, when you get there, bookmark it.
Now you are at the page where you can perform your search. Type Gilbert Love into the window that says "with all of the words." In the window to the right of "return results that come from," type Pittsburgh Press.
Voila, you should get a listing of Gilbert Love columns from the Press.
You can use Pittsburgh Post-Gazette or even Commercial Gazette as your source if you want to go back to the 1800s. (If you just want to browse, use Pittsburgh as your search word). But those archives have been there for a while, unlike the Press.
If you double-click on one of Gilbert Love's columns, you will be taken to a representation of the page. Your cursor is a hand that allows you to click and drag the page around on the screen.
Above are magnifying glass icons to enlarge or reduce the page, a box where you can type in the page number you want to view and arrows to go to the next page or the previous page.
My thanks to reader Norma Chase for alerting me to this. Although I knew digitizing the Press was planned, I didn't know it had actually started. Ms. Chase said she spent an entertaining evening reading through Press archives.

Aren't you the 'lucky' one sky! ;)
Local library is online! Nice. Great find!
I did manage to find that service last year and have scavenged the pages. ;)
However in my state that still doesn't cover it all, as I have found. 3 smaller cities in the south have sightings in their papers alone not covered in Portland.
So digitizing that paper alone does not unearth all the clues to be found! ;)

A51...
Just getting a head start with you on that secret conference. I believe you already have some of the transcripts . Just calling your attention to what happened in this particular exchange
"Dr. LaPaz: " I would like to ask one question here - unless you feed power into a body moving into a horizontal path, can it preserve essentially a horizontal trajectory? A plane does it; meteorites don't do it; short curves as the energy falls off. This thing apparently ignores air resistance and gravity and goes blissfully on its way......"Dr. Teller: I have the feeling that it is....either a discovery in physics, psychology or.....
Dr. LaPaz: I thought that psychological element would come in here!
Dr. Teller: Here is a slightly irrelevant question - you brought in the flying discs. What is the connection? Dr. LaPaz: I didn't bring in the flying discs.
Mr. Newburger: I brought in the matter of the flying discs because the Air Force, as I understand, now have classed the flying discs and these fireballs into one category.
Anybody noting what is happening here? Its an interesting technique. Linda
I like this painting by Mrs Lapaz.

think I should acknowledge help from a great many people, Much of this has been done voluntarily. Dr. Bradbury has been extremely kind in participating in this and making available many of his people, such people as Dr. Gamow, Dr. Teller, Dr. Reines, and other have been concerned with this and are as puzzled as I am. Gamow, Teller, Reines...... pretty powerful crew there.
Hello Amaterasu... its the same Gamow.... Linda
Yeah, Linda... I rather figured. [smile]

that google search link for newpapers can be used by anyone..but yes you are correct a lot of the smaller papers are not on line and never will be
but very interestinly i found this while looking into that..lol

how very interesting that you use the term Project 47
as there is just such a thing

This article originally appeared in UFO Magazine (Mar-Apr, 1996) and has been revised and slightly updated for this website:-
Project 1947: A Progress Report
By
Jan L. Aldrich
Project 1947, an examination of the beginning of the UFO era, had as its main goal screening 1,000 North American and 400 foreign newspapers during the main concentration of UFO activity in 1947, 24 June through 15 July. Clues from the first recognition of the UFO mystery in 1947 might gives us a better idea of what is happening now. During the previous 47 years researchers looked at over 850 newspapers from this era. Much of this research existed in nearly forgotten files or out of print publications. Although there were well over 1,000 incidents documented, the indications were that thousands more cases were waiting to be found.
Since this project started in February of 1995, thousands of cases have turned up. The number of 1947 newspapers screened worldwide is now well nearly 5000! This is not all. The project had other goals: find UFO like reports before 1947, look for early official and scientific interest in the subject, and fill in the gaps in UFO coverage during the 1940's and 1950's. What was original supposed to be a one person research effort with some expense money to visit libraries and archives became a huge collection effort of over 30,000 pages of clipping, investigative reports, personal accounts, and copies of scrapbook from sources all over the world. Many people and organizations not only donated reports, newspaper clippings, and rare out of print newsletters, but some researchers also visited libraries and dug out other accounts from newspapers. Some screened one or two papers in their local area while other went through hundreds.
Interesting things started to show up. Dr. Thomas Bullard, folklorist and writer on historical UFOs and the abduction phenomenon, and others thought that there was a UFO flap during World War I. Dr. Bullard had found a number of accounts of phantom "Zeppelins and airships" in World War I era newspapers from Delaware, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Alaska. Found in the material sent to Project 1947 were World War I-era clippings or accounts. Maybe one or two reports were submitted by one individual and a few from another person's file -- but when added together and combined with] published material the total cases came to over 100 reports. Confirmation of this World War I flap came from a town historian in New Hampshire. Doing research into the history of local towns he found accounts of mystery airships in 1917 -- even an incident in which guards at the Portsmith shipyard fired on an aerial intruder.
One of the most interesting accounts from this era was found by Dr. Bullard. Here is probably the first sighting of a UFO from an airplane. On the 31st of January 1916, Flight Sub-Lieutenant J. E. Morgan, had taken off from Rochfort, England to patrol for German Zeppelins. At about 8:45 p. m. while flying at 5,000 feet he saw a little above his own level "a row of what appeared to be lighted windows which looked something like a railway carriage with the blinds drawn." Morgan thought he had sighted a hostile airship about 100 feet away so he fired his Webley Scott pistol. When he did, the lights rose upward rapidly and disappeared. There were no German Zeppelins over England at this time. The account can be found in the book The German Air Raids on Great Britain 1914-1918 by Captain Joseph Morris. Here is the first sighting of a UFO from a powered aircraft and the first firing on a UFO from the air.
Another source of interesting accounts is a Project Blue Book file entitled "Response to the April 1952 LIFE magazine article." This file, about 3000 microfilmed pages of letters to the USAF after a LIFE magazine article on flying saucers, is not part of Project Blue Book records at the National Archive or Maxwell Air Force Base. Along with about 32 rolls of microfilm of UFO newspaper clippings (over 60,000 clippings) from a national newspaper clipping service the USAF hired from April to September 1952, this file was given to a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado. Several hundred letters related UFO to experiences which did not become cases in Blue Book files.
Some of these letters related truly strange events. A hotel owner in Mexico wrote to Project Blue Book on 30 April 1952 about a highly unusual sky phenomenon. After sunset on the 17th of February 1940, at Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico, he and over 100 people witnessed a green ball in the western sky. The sky was still light. The ball appeared about the size of the moon. It moved slowly down, suddenly moved 90 degrees to the side and then down again. The light seemed to disintegrate slowly, leaving in view a snake-like trail of intense green light which vanished slowly over the next hour. Many people cried, fell to their knees and prayed during the event. Later the writer spoke to some people who had motored from Culiacan and related that they had seen the same thing at the same time when they were about 100 miles south of Guasave. Certainly this was not a meteor.
Another account from the same Blue Book file tells of an incident shortly after Kenneth Arnold's sighting. A retired Army officer with his wife and children at Fort Collins saw eight silver discs moving on a southward course toward Denver. They moved with a slight rocking motion. They seemed to "follow the leader" as if attached by a string. They zig-zagged along a straight course and were in sight for about a minute.
An earlier account from the same file tells of an amateur astronomer in Boulder, Colorado on May 3rd, 1947 who after training his telescope on the moon saw a dark object hurtle across the disk of the moon in a horizontal straight line path.
A number of 1947 accounts came from trained observers. The Mexico, Missouri, Weekly Ledger , for 28 August 1947, told of two pilots flying in a plane at 9000 feet at sunset just northwest of Mexico. Ralph Johnson, a former Navy combat pilot, and John Reilly, an Army veteran and seasoned flier, saw three disc shaped objects flying in a northwesterly direction. They reflected the red of the setting sun, but appeared actually gray in color. The discs were at the same altitude and not in any type of formation. The pilots turned the plane to give chase. The plane was traveling at about 140 miles per hour, but the UFOs outdistanced it.
Other puzzling accounts turn up unexpectedly. The Houston Press, 24 March, 1950, told of a radar sighting of a high-speed object by Humble Oil and Refining Company at Grand Isle, Louisiana. A Humble geophysicist was testing a radar used to detect bad weather on 19 September, 1947 at 5:30 p.m. A fast-moving object was detected for less than one minute heading in a southwesterly direction. The speed was about 1500 feet per second or more than 1000 miles an hour. The observation was recorded in a notebook and discussed with other company scientists. Several explanations were considered including a meteor, or a radar ghost caused by unusual atmospheric conditions. The scientists, however, did not report the matter to management at the time. No visual sighting was made. When another UFO wave occurred in 1950, this earlier report was remembered and reported. Several other radar-only sightings were also made in the latter part of 1947 at military installations in Japan.
A more amusing report comes from the 7th July 1947, Kansas City, Missouri, Star . Here is probably the first use of the term "close encounter." A young lady playing baseball near U. S. highway 24, saw a small 5-inch dark grayish colored object flying about two feet above the ground. It flew around her several times, then flew off to the south a short distance, returned and circled her three or four times more and then disappeared. The reporter's skepticism was shown by the failure to look for verifying witnesses, but the reporter did use "close encounter" in the headline.
It is unfortunate the official investigator did not have the resources to follow up on all the interesting incidents. A Welch, West Virginia Daily News of 15 July, 1947 tells of an earlier incident:
"David R. Smith, manager of Welch Air Service, Inc., said he received the following letter a few days ago from a Badshaw woman who wishes her name withheld:
"'I have just read in the Welch Daily News the article, "reports of Mysterious Flying Discs Multiply" and it brought back to my mind a day almost four months ago of sighting a strange thing in the air. At the time of seeing it I thought it was something new in the way of flying and since I was no authority of flying ships, I mentioned seeing it to my sister, and forgot about it.
"'I can't give you the exact date except about four months ago, and it was in the evening between 2:30 o'clock and 4 o'clock. This strange object was round, and it was silver in color, and the speed I wouldn't think was great, because it appeared to be floating across the sky. The sky was a bright blue with an occasional cloud, so the silver showed up clearly
"'And that was one of the things that got my attention, I wondered why it didn't make a noise. Airplanes at the same distance and height I could always hear their motor. If I had not just happened to be staring at the sky from the day room, I wouldn't have noticed it at all without any sound to attract my attention.
"'Since reading the newspaper I thought I should report it to someone as it might be important. While watching this object various thoughts went through my mind, maybe it was being pulled by an airplane, but if it was where was the plane? Then I thought maybe it was a balloon released by Germany during the war and was just floating around.
" 'P. S. It appeared to be the size of a good size bathroom. Of course, if it was nearer it would have been much larger. When it was halfway across the sky, the sun hit it and it gave off reflections like a tin can when the sun shines down on it. It also seemed to be silver around the sides but on top it seemed more white, like the color like white silk. Another thing I noticed it went in a straight line across the sky. That's all I can remember.'"
This lady's letter was directed to an airport. She thought by sending it there it might be investigated by someone. While the FBI and the Army Air Force were indeed investigating these strange objects, there were too many reports and there was no procedure to gather leads. The Air Force received some 122 for 1947. This represents less than three per cent of the actual reports made to newspapers and other publications. What is also very interesting is that many reports made by government officials do not show up in official records. These reports range from military weather observers in Montana, Military Police in Georgia, technical observers involved in military tests in New Mexico, a military aircrew in flight over Texas, and a high ranking flag officer in Virginia. Beside the military personnel a number of airline and private pilots reported seeing strange objects, but no official investigations of these incidents took place. Sometimes there are intriguing incidents which are published years afterward.
The following published as a letter to a UFO magazine in the 1960s. It is an interesting story, but considering where and how it was reported, it must be viewed with caution. It appears that this was never followed up officially or by any civilian investigators.
"Air Battle"
"Your report on air battles with UFOs in the early days of the flying saucer phenomenon recalled for me a vivid and upsetting experience. As a young lieutenant in a postwar fighter squadron, I was making a cross-county flight near Ardmore, Oklahoma, in 1947. I was flying an AT-6 trainer, a reliable but slow aircraft not designed for getting the heck out of a place after you've received the scare of your life. A flashing red light pulled up behind me, made a complete circle around my aircraft, and then matched my flight course, hanging off my starboard wing.
"I quickly ruled out all the obvious possibilities -- canopy glare, a reflection, a weather balloon. This murky 'thing' was very definitely real, and it scared me profoundly. When I tried to increase speed, the object easily did the same. It stayed with me for about 20 minutes before peeling off and flying away to the south.
"I have known since that time that I'm among the ranks of a rare group of Americans -- UFO witnesses. I applaud you for telling the UFO story like it is."
Lt. Col. Richard Shoesmith
USAF (Ret)
San Francisco, California
Very little could be done now or in the 1960's, to check into this report. The retired rolls could be checked for LTC Shoesmith. His assignment records could be checked to find out what unit he was in during 1947. However, unit records might have no record of this encounter. He might have, or his heirs might still have, his flight log, but this is unlikely. If the date where pinned down, newspapers could be checked. Here again, the possibility of finding anything is unlikely. This type of investigation is generally beyond the scope of Project 1947.
The Houston (Texas) Chronicle for 18 March, 1950 carried a story which is more in line with ability of Project 1947 to follow up. A lead attached to the end of the story:
"Another report of a round moving object sighted in the air came from Wichita Falls.
"Pilot Lem Willis said he and a passenger saw a wingless object about 6:12 p. m. Friday near Bridgeport Lane and watched it for 10 minutes.
"'I don't claim I saw a flying saucer,' Willis said, 'But I did see a moving object with no wings making a very erratic flight pattern.'
"He said it was flying at about 4400 or 4500 feet at an estimated speed of 210 miles an hour."
It is possible to note the date and try to find more detailed accounts in the press or perhaps in a UFO organization's files. Many times it is possible to track down the original and supporting accounts in the press. Project 1947 has hundreds of such leads.
The Houston (Texas) Press for 1947 illustrates another possible lead that could be followed up in its 8 July 1947 edition:
"He Saw Them First--40 Years Ago
"Flying discs are nothing new says J. I . Mackrell, Baytown tinner and roofer. He saw some more than 40 years ago.
"Some time about 1906 or 1908, father and I were going home about dusk, crossing the S. P. tracks on Hardy street when we noticed two white balls, like small moons, traveling northwest," Mr. Mackrell recalls.
"They looked like toy balloons but they were traveling faster than any plane of today, just gliding along. I haven't seen any since then, though."
Sometimes reports like this when put together with others from the same time period indicate, as in the War World I flap, the wave of sightings. Perhaps sightings point to a general time period that can be examined instead of a "needle in the haystack" search for one incident.
Close investigation of the early UFO era will bring the events taking place today more sharply into focus. It may indicate how many beliefs grew up about the phenomenon and why things happened the way they did.
What about the results of Project 1947? Will they just languish in another file draw somewhere? Some preliminary results of the 1947 search will be published and released on the fiftieth anniversary of Kenneth Arnold's sighting. Recent talks with some people indicate that they would like to see some of the raw data collected so a scrapbook-like collection of newspaper clippings will also be published. Later a more detailed report will be available. A collection of pre-1947 sightings should come out shortly thereafter. Other material collected involving sightings and reports from every year in the almost last 50 years will also be available. The large amount of material collected so far is nothing compared to the huge amount waiting to be found. Very few people have any idea of the tremendous mountain of printed accounts hidden away in old newspapers or other media. Any help in the task of digging it out is greatly appreciated. Library research, copies of old scrapbooks, clippings and reports are most welcome at:

Visitors since Nov 23 2011:
PROJECT 1947
PROJECT 1947 is a world-wide effort to document the origins of the modern UFO phenomenon. Research for the project has yielded many early-era UFO reports via the FOIA, newspaper articles and contemporary accounts. Some of the material gathered by PROJECT 1947 is on display here.
PROJECT 1947 is always looking for volunteers to help continue the search for new UFO documents and help process them for the published PROJECT 1947 volumes.
Please read the PROJECT 1947 Information letter and contact the PROJECT-1947 co-ordinator, Jan Aldrich, if you have any questions.
To enable researchers from around the world to network, exchange documents, and provide information about new FOIA releases of UFO-related materials, PROJECT 1947 operates a computer mailing list. Volunteers assisting the project are given automatic membership to the list. Please mail the listmaster for details.
PROJECT 1947 is an attempt to enhance the future of UFO research by establishing a solid collection of official UFO documents, newspaper articles and personal accounts from the beginning of the modern UFO era.
The first volume of material collected by PROJECT 1947 has been published by the UFO Research Coalition as PROJECT 1947: A Preliminary Report. An extensive collection of 1947 UFO reports and newspaper accounts from the U.S.A. is supplemented by a compilation of significant sightings from Scandinavia, France, Australia and other countries.
By compiling a definitive history to show "how we got here from there", the way to future UFO research projects and FOIA requests will become much clearer. Persons interested in aiding the project are always welcome.

Was this a coincidence Sky Otter" Or something more?
how very interesting that you use the term Project 47
as there is just such a thing
which leads directly then to the Faded Disc? Linda
sky -
Project 1947 indeed has a huge collection of 47 reports and builds upon and adds to the pioneering work done by Ted Bloecher and Dr. James McDonald.
Sadly Mr. Aldrich is reported ill and has not been answering emails for several years now.
Another large collection is in 'Alfred Loedding and the Flying Saucers'. Both of these are listed in karl 12's thread about free online books.
In some cases they each have reports that the other does not, and others they are duplicates.
Wendy Conners is the researcher who reported the interview with the Pentagon secretary who spoke of the original Project Saucer being aware of reports as early as April.

i did wonder if you knew all this...question answered

QuoteWas this a coincidence Sky Otter" Or something more?
well we all know there are no true coincidences so a no to that part
but not sure what you are asking in the something more part
i was only copying some of the stuff that was at the link.
it was too long to copy it all so i only picked a small part
obviously meaningful to you
but over my head
while i luv to do hunts for info i am not attached to the results
and while all this stuff is in the past
i feel it only partially affects us..we are so past it and onto MORE
no disrespect to any of it
but sometimes i feel forums are just a game by (fill in the blank here).?.?
to keep us from paying more attention to the now
history is great as long as it doesn't keep you from seeing
what's happening now

8)
Agreed.
And yes very meaningful to me. In the process of discovering this huge 'backstory' if you will to Roswell, it
has allowed us to see more clearly what is happening today.
What I have discovered from putting these databases together is each report is like a pixel on the screen and the more we have, the clearer the image becomes.
Here are a few observations that become apparent that are relevant to today -
1) It is not too hard to guess where 2 of the recovered craft stored at Area 51 came from. Roswell of course.
Craft with these capabilities functioning in the skies of 1947 was impossible for earthly technology. That is THE key lesson here.
This further confirms the fact that unearthly technology is what is currently today test flown by us out in the desert at night.
2) We managed to get our hands on some of that unearthly technology and it was locked away with more secrecy than the Manhattan project ever dreamed of.
Do we realize the officially authorized clout the Manhattan project was given??
To protect the secret of that project I guarantee you that 'Use Of Deadly Force' was authorized.
It was publicly put into use against the Rosenberg's.
Roswell however warranted a whole new set of classifications and clearances and authorizations, the likes of which had never been seen before, and this small group was given cart blanche to do as they pleased and operate completly independant outside the government with no oversight whatsoever.
All with full presidential authorization.
And of course this group and project continues even today.
3) These reports give a strong indication as to what the aliens were interested in and the reason for their visit. That reason appears equally important today.
4) The exact method of how the Roswell craft 'crashed', and the reason behind -why- it did so could easily have profound effects on our current situation.
5) The military potential and weapons and nuclear potential discovered on these things is staggering. A mistake with this stuff would make an atom bomb explosion look like a little firecracker, which is yet further justification and continues to be for the oppressive secrecy.
Just a couple of thoughts on your message here A51...
The idea that there was a project as you are describing here......( Bigger than the Manhattan Project... was mentioned once.... and only once.... to my knowledge) in 1950. That information was leaked to a Canadian by the name of W. Smith....so I believe that you can find some additional backing for your thoughts there......And the quote was traced back to a scientist who had strong military connections and a lab operating in Washington DC at the time. His name was DR. Robert Sarbacher... and his expertise... was missile technology.
And you are right. What is happening here is that the dots that we are collecting are getting closer and closer and someday soon we will all be able to see the entire picture.
This is an interesting statement and I wondered if you wanted to expand your thoughts on this more
") The exact method of how the Roswell craft 'crashed', and the reason behind -why- it did so could easily have profound effects on our current situation. Am I reading you wrong or are you saying that somehow someone may have been able to " disable that craft" enough to make it crash? Who could have been able to do that?
I notice that you have used the description
"potential and weapons and nuclear potential discovered on these things is staggering. A mistake with this stuff would make an atom bomb explosion look like a little firecracker, which is yet further justification and continues to be for the oppressive secrecy
I believe that Nick Cook used that expression too in repeating what his covert source had told him.... that an explosion using this other technology would "make an atomic blast look like a firecracker." A sobering thought which probably does need to be repeated often.
Would it be worth dampening progress in this technology to safeguard against the use of it in that way? I have always thought that it would be worth it..... still is worth it.... to keep that technology out of the wrong hands.... However long that might take.
Multigenerational someone once said. Linda
That does appear to perhaps be one of the perceived issues, that this hidden tech could be used for unparalleled destruction on a scale we can only imagine; I do not wish to see or even contemplate our lush green water world blasted to the point of being another Mars;
yet my feeling on the matter is those we managed to scavenge this tech from must also have some means of controlling its use...
just as I firmly believe that earth scientists such as Tesla had discovered things that would have given us freedom from petroleum many years ago if it had not be hidden away by greed;
the question I ask is, is it a real danger, or a perceived one?
edit to add: I was told long ago that the Roswell crash, along with several others before and after it, was actually caused in some manner by high powered radar emissions; whether there is any substance to that claim is unknown...
seeker
Seeker.... you said
was actually caused in some manner by high powered radar emissions; whether there is any substance to that claim is unknown...
Someday I would like to really get into that subject with you. I think that there might be some validity to that and the thing that has been the most secret was not the crashed saucer but that we ( the " we" still being unidentified.... not necessarily the military.) had the ability to bring it down in the first place. THATS been the REAL the secret. Linda
Linda -
My answer is the same as the seeker's.
Current speculation holds that it was either -
Lightning
or
Radar
Now which seems more plausible? ::)
The idea that this new technology was " hidden away because of greed" doesn't really wash with me but I respect you for stating that idea, For me...... its too.... expected.
Its too easy an explanation and its one that no one would challenge. People are greedy.... therefore... its a valid statement.... and maybe thats what we have been allowed to believe all of this time but maybe now its time to stop in the trail and say.... " Wait just one moment"..... A new technology? Kept from the public because of GREED? Thats the VERY thing that would break it out into the open.
Its just my opinion but I do believe that there was another ( maybe many) reasons to keep this technology from the mass public. Simply stated.... when you have the ability to use electricity to twist gravity..... you have the ability then to " mess with" Time. Is that something that you want to release to the mass public just yet?
I hold that there was a group that had developed a defensive system.....that used radar......
I don't think that the "alien" ship considered that we had that kind of thing.... they might have been a little lax..... I doubt that something harking from another system is going to be bothered by lightning.... but the kind of technology that I have been talking about would have been a BIG surprise.
And again I say. Which is the biggest secret to be kept?.... that there has been a crashed saucer... or that some humans actually managed to shoot the thing down? Both.... but the second would have been the most critical.
Linda
Linda, 51:
it is my feeling that, if as was related to me, that somehow the radar pulses interfered with the control systems of the "craft" causing it to malfunction to the point of crash landing in the desert, it was either a fluke that has since been corrected, a glitch in the ship system's , or perhaps was a deliberate attempt to down these crafts;
as for a lightning strike being responsible, also I am quite sure of disrupting systems on the craft, really hard to say unless more hard evidence ever surfaces..
my source was a former "skunker" from California, unfortunately he crossed over the veil many years ago, leaving me with little tidbits to ponder and peruse...
seeker
Linda
the part about greed stems from reports of Tesla driving up to George Westinghouse in an electric car that never needed charging of any sort, powered by Tesla's "aether" as he referred to it; it was reported that Westinghouse asked where to put the meter, Tesla replied that you couldn't, Westinghouse purchased the complete rights for 50 grand and squirreled it away; that is what I meant by greed preventing us from having certain tech... :D

I also agree with this point of view, Linda; some years ago Art Bell had a video posted on his site showing an experiment with an MRI machine; a large block of aluminum was placed outside the field coil of the machine, tipped over, and it fell straight away; the man then picked it up, placed it inside the field coil, tipped it over, and it fell in slow motion; since aluminum is non-magnetic...

Having Maj. Donald Keyhoe as consultant is likely the reason there are so many factual case sighting elements to this film.

Encounters with Aliens on this Day....July 5
1933 - A huge circular object dropped down into the center of a formation of RAF fighter aircraft over Sussex, England. Two of the planes suffered engine failure and were forced to make emergency landings. One pilot suffered burns to his face and hands after his airplane passed close by the object. (Source: Richard Hall, From Airships to Arnold: A Preliminary Catalogue of UFO Reports in the Early 20th Century, p. 16).
1947 - There are 59 UFO reports from across the United States and one from Canada recorded for this day in UFOCAT. The geographical distribution of the UFO sightings is similar to the day before, but with many more reports from California and the Great Lakes. The majority of these reports were of flyovers by daylight discs. For a map showing the distribution of these reports, including hypothesized great circle routes or flight paths with four of more reports falling along the same line, click here.
1947 - At 8:00 a.m. two discs zoomed in from the west over Sacramento, California. One banked sharply and headed north. According to one witness, it "seemed to stand on one edge as it turned." Both objects left vapor trails. (Source: Ted Bloecher, citing the Sacramento Bee, July 7, 1947).
1947, Albuquerque, New Mexico - Five discs flew toward the east over the city at 9 o'clock in the morning; one circled back over the city. In the afternoon five witnesses saw a sphere maneuver in-and-out of clouds. (Source: Jan Aldrich, Project 1947: A Preliminary Report on the 1947 UFO Sighting Wave; Albuquerque Journal, July 6, 1947).
1947 - In Augusta, Maine at 1:15 p.m. local time, two witnesses, including the program director of WRDO Radio, saw twelve discs flying rapidly in a straight line toward Bangor in a north-northeasterly direction. (Source: Daily Kennebec Journal, July 7, 1947).
At 1:00 p.m. in 1947 a party of surveyors in Payette, Idaho saw four silvery discs that each had a dark line in the center fly toward the northwest at an estimated speed of 800 km per hour. They were lost in the clouds at an estimated altitude of 8,000 feet. (Source: Larry Hatch, U computer database, case 862).
1947 - In clear sky at 3:00 p.m. in Anaconda, Montana a man saw six silvery objects fluttering as they flew toward the east. A woman, an independent witness, also saw the same three fluttering objects disappear over the horizon. Both witnesses called the police. (Source: Jan Aldrich, A Preliminary Report on the 1947 UFO Sighting Wave, p. 80).
1947 - at 7:00 p.m. in daylight skies over Neapolis, Ohio a TWA flight crew saw a propeller-shaped object rotating slowly as it flew beneath the airliner. It was flying at an estimated speed of 200 mph. (Source: Ted Bloecher, newspaper clipping dated July 6, 1947).
1965 - On this day at six o'clock in the morning a 41-year-old man named Andersson took a photograph of a flying disc-shaped object coming out of the Russian River near Kenai, Alaska. (Sources: Anchorage Daily News, August 3, 1965; APRO Bulletin, November-December 1965).

1953-Pilot Felix Moncla Lost Chasing UFO
By Billy Booth,
Summary:
On November 23, 1953, one of the great mysteries of UFOs began, as an Air Defense Command Ground Intercept radar controller at Truax AFB in Madison, Wisconsin received a radar blip of an unknown object over Lake Michigan. An F-89-C Scorpion was immediately dispatched from Kincross Air Force Base to locate the target. 1st Lieutenant Felix Moncla, Jr. piloted the jet, with 2nd Lieutenant R. Wilson operating the radar.
Object Streaks over Lake Superior:
The Scorpion jet began to approach the unknown flier, but as it did, the UFO began to change its course. Moncla was flying at approximately 500 mph as it neared the UFO. Radar man Wilson was unable to accurately track the UFO, and ground control picked up the info, relaying it back to the Scorpion.
Jet Closes on UFO:
Moncla finally brought his jet to the exact spot of the UFO, but as he did, radar operators at Truax saw both blips as one. For a moment, it was expected that Moncla had gone over or under the UFO, causing the united blip, and that two blips would soon be seen again. But suddenly, the one blip faded, as no radar return was registered. Attempts to contact Moncla from ground control were unsuccessful.
Search & Rescue Dispatched:
Radar operators marked the last radar return as seventy miles off of Keweenaw Point in the upper part of Michigan. The plane and UFO were marked as 8,000 feet altitude when they both vanished. A search and rescue team, the 433rd Fighter Interceptor Squadron, was immediately summoned, but after an expansive, overnight search not a trace of the Scorpion or UFO was found.
First Official Statement:
The first official statement of the incident would be released by Norton Air Force Flying Safety Division. After what was obviously a superficial overview of the case, they issued this statement:
... "the pilot probably suffered from vertigo and crashed into the lake."
Officially, there was no indication that Moncla suffered from vertigo, a very unlikely condition for a pilot, and also he was flying by his instruments, and not using a sight and search approach.
Air Force Theories:
Efforts by the Air Force to divert any attention from a UFO explanation were immediate. They claimed that there was a Canadian DC-3 in the area, and that this was what the Scorpion was chasing, but the Canadian Air Force denied this claim. U.S. officials then claimed that a RCAF jet was in the area, but this was also negated by the Canadians. U.S. officials also claimed that the Scorpion may have exploded.
No Indication of Crash:
The problem with the crash theory is that if the Scorpion had exploded, it is very likely that some debris would have been found. But, the search found no metal fragments, oil slicks... nothing that would indicate there had been a crash. Interestingly enough, government records listed the crash as an accident, nothing more.
Case Still Unexplained:
Off the record, those close to the case believed that the loss of the Scorpion was a direct result of an encounter with the unknown object, clearly seen on radar. In recent months, the Michigan Diving Company has made assertions that they may have found the jet and the UFO, but this finding is still being investigated. The helical-beam antenna was invented by John Kraus in 1946.
"Helical antennas have long been popular in applications from VHF to microwaves requiring circular polarization, since they have the unique property of naturally providing circularly polarized radiation.
One area that takes advantage of this property is satellite communications.
Where more gain is required than can be provided by a helical antenna alone, a helical antenna can also be used as a feed for a parabolic dish for higher gains."
http://www.w1ghz.org/antbook/conf/Helical_feed_antennas.pdf (http://www.w1ghz.org/antbook/conf/Helical_feed_antennas.pdf)
Others point to a phased array antenna as the culprit, but to date we have no evidence which, if any were used.
The reason researchers today speculate on radar's role in Roswell is in part due to this FOIA memo -

I have many leads on this subject and continue to track them down and verify them.
Some contend this reaction to our radar was an accident and unintentional on our part.
Others contend it was done deliberately.

in the vid i posted above the guy speaks of the lighting storm and seeing the objects crash
at sec 54
maybe it wasn't an either / or scenario
but
a accidental mixing of lighting and radar
and that is the reason that they haven't brought down many since then..
just a thought
what weapons do we have that combine lightning like power with radar..?
???
Ouch! What a way to get shot down! I wonder if we dont see a lot of saucers anymore and are seeing more triangular shaped craft as a result of Roswell, and Aztec?
Are they onto us, or are they waiting to strike?
Hmmmm.
Le
OR.... maybe it was a weapon that utilized an essence of both radar and a lightning strike. And maybe once " shot down" ( Maybe by accident. Will we ever know?) Perhaps Intelligent beings put up a " do not interact" sign around us... Maybe that was meant?
And oddly then the AF issued a " do not shoot" order in the fifties that seems STILL to be in effect. WHY is that?
Answers coming closer and closer folks. Linda
sky - I am still checking all the links you have provided to make sure I have them all in the database. You just never know. ;D
The ones that they don't have a source listed I have to put in the grey basket until we can get confirmation elsewhere.
The "On this day" people are really bad about that.

His name is Frank Kauffman. He speaks of radar operaters seeing an unusual radar return (ufo) leave the screen and they assumed it had crashed. He did not see it visually, only on radar.
Sadly Frank has been legitimatly discredited as a fraud. So has Gerald Anderson.

I see what your getting at and I agree, and I think most people do also.
To us, radar appears too weak and flimsy to be used as a weapon that forces craft from the sky. We use radar on our aircraft every day with no ill effects, so an even more advanced craft would certainly have no problem either right?
Consider that flying advanced craft through terrain at insane speeds can not be done manually. You would slam into the wall at the first turn before you could even think about turning the wheel.
It will require automation that 'sees' the oncoming terrain and automatically adjusts for it. A sudden unexpected (uncompensated for) incoming radar pulse could be seen as false terrain and thus moved away from.
...
Also I do not know of any method for being able to use lightning as a weapon. And since these craft's shape are specifically designed to prevent corona discharge (of the bazillions of volts charge present during the operation of these craft), it does not seem likely they would be unaware of or have reason to be concerned with lightning.
...
In those days the entire country was not blanketed with radar coverage from stem to stern like we are now.
Sensitive installations most certainly were though, and it was the most powerful and cutting edge of the day.
Consider if you will an alleged quote from an unnamed witness(s) at one of these locations back then.
As a formation of flying discs passed through the area, "It was noticed that the radar beam appeared to cause a slight deviation in one of the discs flight path."
To a Pentagon war room that had been helpless as children to defend their airspace up until this point, this news would have been gold.
David now had at least something to use against Goliath, and it would not surprise me if it was Jimmy Doolittle himself who had a hand in devising that ingeniously simple scheme.
They only had one shot at it, and it had better work because there would never be a second chance.
If true,
consider the implications of this vs one of it simply crashing on it's own due to 'natural' causes.
That is what I meant when I spoke of history having a direct bearing on what is happening today.
That is why I consider getting every still- hidden report out of the newspaper archives while we still can, to be so important.
I have a few pieces of the puzzle on my table so far as to how this was done and where, and I am confident that if more pieces are unearthed, the answer to this as well as many more questions about this event and it's implications will become clear.
;D

They didn't even run the 'Army Captures Flying Disc' report huh? Very strange. ???
I couldnt find anything on Roswell, but those dang little fiches are tiny, I still wouldve seen it, Id recognize that headline anywhere.
There wasnt anything much for the areas around here or central florida in general, and I have a feeling they lost a bunch when they rebuilt the library ten years ago.
I had seen several articles from the forties about old Largo, and our history that included national news along with local, but no Roswell, Sorry Buddy, :'( :'( :'(
It appears the sentinel has discontinued access to anything before 1985 online, so if I ever get there soon, Ill pop in the pub library and see what I can find.
