What Is China Building Here? Looks like a Stargate!(http://worldtruth.tv/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/xlarge.jpg)
QuoteNot happy with building mysterious gigantic structures in the desert, the Chinese are now building inter-dimensional portals in the middle of their cities. I mean, come on, what the hell is this 157m high metal structure in the the city of Fushun, in northeast China's Liaoning province?
QuoteIt's made of an astounding 3000 tons of steel and it will glow at night — decorated with 12,000 LED lights. According to Fushun Municipal Government's officials, this titanic structure does absolutely nothing except serve as an elevated sighting position. They claim it is pretty "landscape architecture" — like the Eiffel Tower. It uses four elevators to take people to the top.
The Chinese media has been harsh about the building after a blogger posted these photos on Sina Weibo, which is the country's "largest microblog platform". Not surprising, since this thing costs $US16 million.
According to Fushun's Urban Construction Bureau, the "Ring of Life" means "a round sky and a path leading to a paradise in heaven."
I believe it. And so does the internet. Check out the photoshops at the end of this post.

Originally intended just for sightseers—and at about 50 stories tall, it's tough to miss—a giant steel ring in the fast-growing Chinese city of Fushun, pictured on September 13, is now to be a jumping-off point for urban adventure. Four rope ladders have been hung inside the structure, and a ring-topping bungee-jumping platform is under review, according to the European Pressphoto Agency. (Video: Watch a traditional take on bungee jumping in the South Pacific.)
Why We Love It
"I like the interplay between the clean lines of the ring structure and delicate-looking cranes and muddied ground below—and the way the perfect o of the steel ring is echoed in the less perfect circular driveway."—Alexa Keefe, photo producer

The Round "Gate" is very, very common in Chinese Culture, extending back thousands of years,
which is often displayed in the form of Chinese Art and Furniture, doorways etc.

Maybe those famous "stargates" from the TV series were based on the Chinese Art and now people think of Chinese (without realising it) when they think of "stargates". :)

More than likely..
Many of China's budget movies, express exotic powers, such as in the "monkey king" that were once known,
now only in mythology.
Perhaps there may be evidence, now almost lost re. Star Gates in China...

Or MAYBE the STARGATE theme goes way back in history to cave art as well
The round and spiral pathway portals have been found on petroglyphs in every country and all the legend say they represent gateways to the gods...
Then too every ancient culture has some type of doorway usually protected by a pair of gate guardians and they all use terms like "Gateway to the Gods"
So I find it highly likely that this common theme has a basis in fact... but likely a very long time ago... and what we get is watered down interpretations
Looks like CERN :P

Daring architecture or giant monstrosities? Ridiculous buildings that are popping up all over China (and yes, that does look like a...)

Some of these spectacular buildings epitomise the daring architecture we have come to expect from the nation that gave us the magnificent Bird's Nest stadium.
But others have provoked roars of laughter and been lampooned the world over.
Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of modern Chinese architecture.

BTW China is also buying up the world's supply of neodymium........

One thing that baffle's me a bit is why Dubai whilst in their building craze didn't do something amazing like build Atlantis... So often Money has little taste, and full cred's for building a Stargate :D
