IMHO: The first one shows up for me as a saucer shaped item. It is in camera and has a lot of atmosperic interference. The workup shows a up and left bow wake, shown in green.
I don't know what to make of the black dot unless it is a window of sorts.

The Polish UFO is in B&W and the process does not like that against a bright sky. But here it is.

Between the 2, the Polish UFO looks dead to me while the English one is very much alive. 1 out of 2 is good. So Deuem likes the English UFO. Looks like the A51 saucer. A very close match or design style.

If anyone is wondering why this is a thread, I split this post from another one. I am interested in saucer sightings from outside the USA in the forties.
If anyone has more info on the above pics, like who took them and what they said I'm all ears. They might not be saucers....
Any other info on sightings outside the USA especially between 145 and 1948 would be awesome. I'm not interested in Foo Fighters as there is plenty on that. It is saucers in particular as the cupboard looks a bit bare.

That looks like the Moon on a long exposure, with some mist covering the Moon partially from time to time during the exposure.

Possibly a processing artefact due to something dripping during the processing of the picture. If you look just below and left there is another one near the "saucer".

It looks a lot more impressive in that shot.
How would the clouds and object look in terms of focus if the object were a long way from the camera or alternatively on the window of a plane that the picture was taken through. The picture would surely look different depending on where the object is right?

First of all, look at the "clouds", they are not clouds, clouds don't have sharp edges.
Also, there were no aeroplanes in 1871. :)

UFOs were not in the public psyche then.
Some one took a photograph for a reason.
Also as an ex commercial helicopter pilot,I can tell you that clouds can do All kinds of things when their around mountains. When wind shear or changes in temp and direction at different altitudes comes into play, clouds can be very jagged in appearance and menacing looking.

I tried something new, I isolated that area and then tried to match the color of the clouds. It now looks as it it might just be a photo glitch with the negative. When I look at it, I think I can see the cloud pattern continue right through it. In deuem it appears as a hole. I can not find any EM fields or structure and I tried many times,
So at this time I am going with clouds and a smear on the process somewhere. For me the clouds do process like other clouds. I do not think it is ice or frost. Maybe a mashed potato, That got me hungry! [honey, mashed potatos for supper tonight],
If one of you has processing skills try it and see if you can match the clouds with out pasting clouds in the area, all I did was to pick the object and play with the settings, no pasting/

For some reason I only looked at the image on the right side, that looks better, while you used the image on the left. :)
Try it with the image on the right and you will see that it has more detail.
