Title: Lunar Orbiter III, Photo 3085: Treaded Vehicle
Post by: this_is_who_we_are on October 30, 2013, 12:58:32 AM
Here's something that received little attention over there. A grand total of three pages. I think this is quite a find myself.
A "boulder" traveling up a hill on treads, with a tiny dome light on top.

From my original ATS thread:

Something that looks like this:

More descriptors:

It remides me of, but doesn't look exactly like, the Chariot from "Lost in Space" as well as these concept vehicles:

Something like this, maybe:

Or it could be a boulder:
With tank treads that are slightly higher than the vehicle's body, and that are slightly longer than the vehicles body.

It would be nice if you could find that same piece of land in another moon shot and see if it is still there. If it is gone then you have something for sure.

I've tried and failed. But not recently. I'll make it a new (old) project.

Can you locate it on Google moon?

Very Interesting this is who we are, I found a few thing's with in the original image of the surface. Thought maybe I would point these area's out and maybe good Ole Sgt. could have a closer look or have some of our more expertise and intellectual with image enhancement with out to much distortion and possibly pull out more details from the surrounding area.

Areas of Blue and Yellow are my insights as too seeing something possibly there.

Wish I had better image equipment and intellectual prowess with getting these images clearer or relative to at least better. Sorry for troubling you better prepared.

With Great Respect,
1Worldwatcher

Nice thread!
'Tanks' ;D
I can't really make out tracks, but the object sure is very square & chunky, the geometry alone says 'vehicle'.

And you gave us the source pic, i saved it for later viewing, kind of busy now ::)

I found a lot of anomalies round the Taurus Littrow & Shorty craters;

(you may want to turn down the volume, just a bit ;) )

I don't think it's a tank, and I don't think it's a boulder either, to me it looks like the continuation of that long hill and not like a different object.

I think it's not possible to find another image from that angle, so it will be hard to see things exactly in the same way, but I'm looking. :)

A short reply to the last three posts:

Thanks for the additional info and research. I'll be looking closely at the new areas indicated by 1Worldwatcher. I'll also be looking for other high res images of the area as suggested. Just been a little under the weather the last few days.

Will check out the video posted by PlaysWithMachines/

ArMaP: Any help woukd be appreciated'
:)

It's only a small part of what I think is a large mining area.....There'll be more to follow on this photo...just wanted to share and see what you guys think....Peace 8)

These are from Kaguya. They have a "morning" and an "evening" version of all the photos, making it easier to understand the shape of the terrain.

Below is what I think is (more or less) the area marked in red in both images.

Now the "morning" and "evening" photos of that area at 100% (the one above was resized).

ArMaP, You have been looking at Moon pictures searching for anomalies for years now.  Would you mind starting a thread with the images that in your opinion might be anomalous?  Your favourites or whatever you want to call them.

Armap finds no pictures anomalous, so it will be a very short thread :p

Nice work this_is_who_we_are   :D

It sure looks odd thats for sure, and I can see why you, or anyone for that matter would question what it could be!

Pssst.. Tell you a secret about earth, people here think they know everything about the universe :D

Not really, I look mostly for other versions of the areas where people see anomalies, I never went on an anomaly hunt of my own. :)

It would be a short thread, as I only remember two photos where I see things for which I cannot find an explanation good enough to convince me. ;D

One would be the machine parts picture?  Which is the other?

One is the photo with what looks like a pipe, the other the one with what zorgon called "the walled compound" (or something like that). :)

The second one is the most obviously anomalous looking Moon picture I have seen.
