Hi gang,

What is the role of a Gov in a US State prey tell?.. what powers do they have ? I guess they an elected not appointed official ? I came across the below today , hence my question -

"SNIP"
Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) will resign from the Senate on Dec. 31, leaving Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) to fill the late Sen. John McCain's (R) seat for a second time.

Ducey's office announced Friday that Kyl's resignation letter was hand-delivered to his office on Thursday afternoon. His office said that he'll make an announcement about appointing Kyl's replacement "in the near future."

Kyl, who initially served in the Senate from 1995 to 2013, was appointed in September to fill McCain's seat after he passed away from brain cancer in August. Before his return to the Senate, Kyl worked as lobbyist for the Washington-based firm Covington & Burling.

"Senator Kyl didn't need to return to the Senate. His legacy as one of Arizona's most influential and important political figures was already without question," Ducey said in a Friday statement.
"But he did return, and I remain deeply grateful for his willingness to step up and serve again when Arizona needed him. I wish him and his family all the best."

When joining the Senate this fall, Kyl had hinted that he planned to only serve in the Senate until year's end.
Prior to Kyl's announced departure on Friday, speculation was already swirling about whom Ducey would tap to replace him.

Ducey has remained mum on that decision, but outgoing Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), who narrowly lost a heated Senate race in November, is considered a top prospect.

Another potential name is Kirk Adams, Ducey's chief of staff who recently departed the governor's office.
There will be a special election in November 2020 to serve out the remaining two years of McCain's term.

sorry fans but you are a bot.you would know the answer to the question you asked i suspect.but just in case im wrong.appointments are temporary until election time.
usually the governor needs a patsy for task and the recently deceased told the governor and in return ran while on the verge of death.this allows for the governors "boy" to play the role until the freemasons get one of there own vetted and up to speed.
ive never been much for rules.
being me has its priviledges.

As much as I want to disabuse of your belief that I am "bot", I actually cannot put up a strong enough argument to contradict the assumption robomont..   :o

I might have gone for the "well if I am a bot, why would my creators/masters endow me with slightly arthritic knees', asthma, a baldy head and short sightedness -5.5 Left eye and -6.0 in my right eye?? UNLESS! unless of course they are so good now at creating near perfect replicants that can literally fool any human being who cares to X-ray, PET / MRI scan me??"  :o :o

That said I don't honestly believe that I am bot but I cant, hand on heart provide empirical evidence to the contrary robomont, AND I do feel that in some of wild and crazy dreams I have that I am both downloading and uploading information - much like Neo of Matrix fame - weird huh???

Thanks so much robomont, I now have some research to complete to see if my memories are not implants / buffers' ??  :o :o :o 8)

Cheers!

Fansongecho / Possible Nexus-6 -

PS Thanks for the answer but I don't understand what a Gov does, or how he / she gets into the Position ??

Robo, get a grip and stow it before you have to sit in the corner in timeout  8) it has obviously escaped you that Fansongecho is a native Brit and not familiar with our form/system of governance...

Fans, the governor of each state is duly elected by the people of that state, usually for a term of four years, to act as the chief executive officer in charge of the government of said state; as the POTus is commander in chief of the country, each governor is in charge of their home state;

since Sen. McCain died, it is the governor's responsibility to appoint a temporary replacement until a special election can be held and a new senator chosen by the populace...

Sometimes dreams are trying to tell us something.  Other times it's like the dreaming mind just decides to string a lot of random stuff together and call it good.
