Sorry.

I'm mourning the death of class.

....wow, you sound like one of those "snowflakes" that people seem to be calling each other lately.

I find the term to be odd, seeing that anyone who lives in a cold climate and endures harsh winters would no that snow ain't no joke.

As far as the females who are raising awareness for equal pay/treatment or whatever, I hope they don't start burning their bras!  Oh the humanity!!

I honestly don't get the hate for fanny hat's.

I've never heard of them.  Which say's a lot about the complaint.

Strange men acting as women :P

Here in the US of Assholes  :P  The pink hat with the 'ears' is a new symbol adopted by radical (and snowflake) women's rights groups  Called a PUSSY HAT (Just google women's rights pussy hat  they are being sold all over Etsy and Ebay) (the other one that is even stupider is the Vagina hat... the Lunatics have taken over the assylum

It is sad that an article about an accomplished runner and a woman's personal achievement is bloted out by a MISTAKEN identification of a hat that looks similar to something else

Snowflakes are pretty and fragile but disappear in a flash :P

Only when thousands of snowflakes collect in one place does it become snow and in volume becomes a problem and a nuisance :P

I think the comparison is apt :P

holy heck..i can't believe the dust up over a running article.. so sorry to have it occur in a thread to you
but sadly it kinda shows the state of things here in the states...folks picked sides and if you aren't on the same side there's a lot of name calling

let me explain the hat pussy hat thing.. the guy who got elected made the remark that he just grabs women by the pussy..therefore when the womens march was done they decided to call their hats pussy hats...the other i hadn't heard about

oh yeah and speaking of that ...you dare to call me an old woman..??? really..
bud, you just wait till you get up here and see what adjectives you get
.. i only just turned 68.. not old in my book...i wish i could do just one marathon let alone one in ever country..in any amount of time

sadly no one seems to respect anyone else opinion anymore and some  like to shout their displeasure with others louder than before..
so if you don't think we're on borrowed time..hummmmmmmmmmmm

was that you in the vid.. gonna go watch it now

YOU WON....

Are you aware of what the hat represents?

It's called a "pussy hat" and the feminists are wearing it to represent women's rights.

I think it's gross. People can't seem to protest without using disgusting language.

Yes, the pink pussy hats.  It's disgusting and the whole was manufactured for social engineering purposes.

Well the hat with the pointy ears was originally a KITTY HAT worn by cosplay girls and was cute.
My daughter wears them :P

So if you happen to like PINK  you are now no longer wearing a cute KITTY hat but making a political statement with a PUSSY hat  :P

Today in the SCA there is a gay/lesbian group called Blue Feather  So if you wear a Renaissance hat with a dark blue feather you are advertising that you are gay ( a powder blue feather is gay friendly)

The problem with this is my colors are blue and gold so I cannot wear a blue feather without sending out the wrong signal

In the mundane world you cannot sport anything rainbow for the same reason

The Lunatics are ruling the Asylum these days

i'd rather be pretty than petty which i think some of the remarks added to a thread like this are..but hey what do i know, huh..!!!

and if you let other folks's color useage stop you from doing something... that's sad

Gobi changed the course of Dion Leonard's life when she appeared in the Gobi Desert. (@findinggobi)

hey Soma
hopefully this won't go off the rails..but it's a really really cool story about a little dog named Gobi and how an aussie runner adopted him...
if you haven't seen it check out  some of these
and Gobi now has a book..lol

Read Story Transcript

When Dion Leonard lined up at the start of the Gobi March last June, he was there to win.

The gruelling ultramarathon takes racers across the Gobi Desert in Asia in extreme heat. The runners carry their own food and water on the six-stage race, which has competitors running about 40 kilometres each day with the final leg being twice that far.

After the first day of the race, Leonard noticed a little dog begging from the racers around the campfire.

Dion Leonard first noticed Gobi begging from racers around the campfire. (@findinggobi)
"I didn't think much of it but I thought there is no way I'm going to feed her," he tells The Current's Anna Maria Tremonti.

The next morning Leonard sees the dog again. This time she's hanging around the start line.

He started running near the front of the pack, and the dog that he would later name Gobi started running beside him.

Leonard kept expecting she'd drop back but instead, she ran with him for the whole stage of the race.

When he got to the finish line that day, people were cheering. But he quickly realized that they were cheering for the dog running right behind him.

He decided to take her home with him to Scotland, a task that didn't prove easy. He flew back to China when she went missing for more than 10 days and faced threats and intimidation as he worked to get her out of the country — a story Leonard tells in his book, Finding Gobi.

Six months later, he finally brought her home to Edinburgh where they live now.

"I say that finding Gobi was one of the hardest things," he says.

"But her finding me was one of the best."

Wow what a nice story  :)

On a funny note regarding Dog's and my life these day's!

Last year I was doing a 50km ride to work on a bike/pedestrian pathway where about 40km into the ride I could see a young woman with a German Shepard coming my direction in the distance.  I thought nothing of it till that dog came running at me full tilt,  she started yelling at it and I had nowhere to hide.  I knew I screwed as i couldn't turn my bike around at that point.

The dog eventually latched onto my leg and with some quick thinking in hindsight ofc, I let it put it's meat defying jaw onto my leg and did not move my leg whilst still rolling along on my bike... PHEW.  I made the choice as the dog let go and the owner came running up apologising saying some rubbish how she was trying to train him not to bite people.  DAFUQ? without a lead in a public space.

Since then, and the influx of city people who feel the need to have dog's to complete their circle of life i am now paranoid when i see dogs and have incident's more often than I care for LOL

It's not that i don't like dog's, but I think these day's Hoomons are forgetting what a dog is, and that is at time's a lethally loose cannon

Another two incident's last month:

I was out trail running and saw a woman do the right thing and put her dog on a leash when she saw me.  The dog should have been on a leash prior but ok... I thought she was being responsible.. we cross path's on a Goat track  with a 25 degree gradient wither way and the dog start's going nutz on me, I jump up the gradient and tell her to effing control her dog, I was then told to grow up DAFUQ???  Yeah like anyone want's a frothing dog biting their leg's?  Well she got told where to go very unpolitley.

Next case was out on a 30km run only two week's ago. I was about 18km into the run in a picnic area and wanted to take a little path beside the river I used when i was training for the last 100km i did in 2014.  I saw a dog and thought nothing of it till I came up close and this little dog wanted to kill me.  I had to yell like mad it to get it pee off.  The owner's on a jetty just near by told me to kick it and teach it a lesson.  DAFUQ... what reasonble person think's that having a stranger kick your dog will teach the dog not to attempt attacking people.  Truly bloody bizzare!

Somamech

It almost like the rise of the connected human and through the web and all the pet loving has risen above the human in importance when it come's to safety.

It really is no effort to make sure one's pet obey's the rule's of human saftey for the most part, but it seem's like people are walking in a bubble and not giving one poop about it and then blame other people for their lack of knowledge...FFS

Geez sorry Otter LOL  City dweeler's and dogs has been a pet peeve of mine since that Bike ride..and sadly it was something i never thought of before, now I notice it more than i care for!

hey Soma
i have two big dogs and they would be really hit hard if they tried any of that shit..
honestly  get yourself some pepper spray and attach it to  your belt or something easy to reach.. aim for the eyes or if you want a dyi.. vinegar at full strength works just fine..

i luv my dogs but they need to be trained..

and think about this.. what you think about is drawn to you.. so maybe just think about the pepper spray..bwhahahah .. oh yeah it works on humans too

hugs

Somamech

Thats is illegal here in OZ !

I have thought about my LOA and how that may effect me LOL  dont know!

I like dog's too, but now I'm trying to deduce whether the percentage of moronic people are owning them rather than responsible people  :-\

space otter

is the vinegar illegal too?....it works great and leaves no traces
