My Mother is doing her usual yearly rant about me getting the flu shot.

She is in a nursing home now, 94 in August and still, because we're nearly in Winter, she is doing her phone rant about me getting the flu shot.

Now I have had pneumonia shots because I am a smoker, but I have had flu shots in the past, and we all know what the implications of that are.

So, when she said "have you got your flu shot yet, they say its going to be a bad year for that", you better hurry up and get it, its free you know." I say yes ma, got the flu shot.

Say it to her every year just to get her off my back about it.

I get mine, so I don't have to wear a mask during flu season.  I had a bad reaction the year that they added the swine flu component.  That was my only bad experience,  other than the two years in a row that I actually got the flu.  The first year, was a vaccine shortage.  The next year was just bad luck.

My ex had pneumonia a couple of years ago.  His was from mold growing in his air conditioner.  He kept insisting that he couldn't have pneumonia,  since he'd gotten the pneumonia shot.  Unfortunately, that does nothing to prevent something caused by mold spores.

As a general rule of thumb, I don't take flu shots; for the last 17 years my doc has told me that he will call me and give me one if he thinks I need one; I have had the flu once in that time period... that was in 2009 after he gave me the flu shot...

I'm not pro or anti, I just think it's not worth the trouble in my case, but other people are more likely to catch the flu, more sensitive to its possible adverse consequences and more likely to spread it, so I think those people should think about taking the vaccine.

Remember when Baxter Pharmaceuticals shipped out thousands of swine flu shots that were discovered to contain living virus of bird and swine flu together.  It had viruses not even used in the manufacture of a swine flu vaccine.  Nothing happened to Baxter.  They're still in business.  They passed laws giving big pharma immunity for botched vaccines in the US so you can't sue them for damages.  Wouldn't touch flu shots.  It's a racket.  I thought private prisons were low but the suffering doled out by big pharma for profit takes the evil to an even more unimaginably diabolical level.

Personal choice. My wife and I are of the opinion that it is a waste of time and effort. Flu virus mutates itself so quickly that by the time they develop a vaccine, it has changed.

In our circle of friends it seems the ones that have the most health issues are the ones that are lining up for the shot
