I took this picture last year out of pure curiosity. I've been Googling and Binging to no avail. I haven't been able to find out what kind of antenna this dish-looking thing is.

Do any other members know what this is used for?

A search for semi parabolic antenna returned similar antennas, some for amplifying WiFi signal, like this one.

can't find on a general search.. sorry
but i have a few suggestions that may help

> knowing the state that pole was in might help in a search
>those look like some type of power equipment so check the power company web site for some type of weather protection device
>whose pole was it
> any military bases near that pole
>state police monitoring
> cell phone booster

hope that is of a little help  good luck

That looks like a FM transmitter unit; the power company and the railroad both uses those, the railroad to communicate on relay/track junction status, the power company to report from transformer stations.
Look closely: See clearly: Think deeply; and Choose wisely...
