In the throes atm of a massive panic attack, which is another part of being manic depressive.

Taken the valium, but any other hints would be cool please.

I googled and it said don't take any more than six breaths into a paper bag; I'm presuming that's because of the carbon air or whatever it is.

Thanks.  I might lie down now if I can.

I hope you are OK now.  :(

I never had a panic attack, so I don't know what to do, the only thing I can thing of is what I usually do to slow my heart rate, breathing slowly and stopping for two or three seconds as soon as you start expelling the air, then repeating it for several times while noticing your heat rate.

Another thing I usually do is listening to music, or, if I cannot at the time, singing some specific song in my mind, some song that makes you happy and/or reminds you of good memories.

UUGH sorry to hear that. Try to focus on nice things like kittens or a warm sunny day in the park. Put on some relaxing music and maybe an aroma candle.

Hope your feeling well soon.

Thanks guys, got some ideas from youtubes; apparently the tap method, tapping on the top of your facial bone or on the side of your hand helps. xxoo

Not sure who told you about the tap method, but it does usually work. I have a condition that is often difficult to deal with. Rhythmic tapping relieves it fairly quickly.

I often think of that clicker John Wayne demonstrates in the movie "The Longest Day". It would be great except that it's very loud. I usually tap on a table or my headboard when it's the middle of the night. If I'm driving I use the center console.

Yes, I'm whacked.
Shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.....

Anything you can do to distract and redirect yourself, within reason, is probably good.   From a nursing perspective, it sounds like you might need some medication adjustments.  I used to work on a psych unit in long term care.  We met every month, with the doctors and a pharmacist, to discuss whether people's meds were working.   The worst part was when the meds were working, but some doctor adjusted them any way.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I use valerian to help relax my system.  I have really bad insomnia.  At least until 10 minutes before I need to get up.

Have you tried Mountain Dew?

I know it sounds crazy BUT  Anxiety like attacks can come from dehydration and the caffeine sugar boost can help a lot...

Gamers and other people that work late and get stress will sometime get panick attacks and slam that Dew. It has worked for me and my daughter...  Can't hurt to try... dehydration even when you don't think you are CAN cause anxiety

Its better than drugs  If it works it works before you finish half the can/bottle  If not you have lost nothing and can go for the meds

I suggest trying it

Try a MerKaBa meditation, and always remember to breathe, it sounds funny, but so many go through life holding their breath during the course of a normal day, sometimes for as long as a minute, before realizing and gasping for air to do it all over again.

I do Qi Gong and find it to be very relaxing and it also helps me to concentrate on rythmic breathing, which usually translates into my normal routine.

Anxiety is caused by a number of daily experiences, also try to isolate those particular ones which trigger these attacks and then meditate on them, while keeping that breathing slow and even.
