What is Astronauts: Do You Have What It Takes?

The show will see 12 wannabe astronauts taking part in a gruelling and physically and mentally taxing series of training tasks in the hope of maybe walking on the moon.

Watching over the men and women will be none other than Chris Hadfield, a former commander of the International Space Station, who became a global sensation for his guitar-playing antics in zero gravity.

At the end of the series, Hadfield will recommend the best one to space agencies recruiting for potential astronauts to go into space.

The first task will see contestants fly a helicopter - challenging enough on its own but even more challenging when recalling numbers backwards!

Who is Chris Hadfield?

Chris Hadfield is a retired Canadian astronaut who was the first Canadian to walk in space.

He was born on August 29, 1959, in Ontario and was a test pilot for the Canadian Armed Forces before joining the Canadian Space Agency in 1992.

Hadfield made multiple trips to the ISS and became hugely popular thanks to his habit of taking photos of the Earth from space and posting them on Twitter.

His mission ended in May 2013 when he returned to Earth for the last time

Old fears surface when the remaining astronaut candidates face a series of space agency swim tests. Their teamwork and mental agility is scrutinised in an underwater test, assembling a large cube. They learn basic Russian before heading off to the German Space Centre. In a simulation used to train astronauts, they attempt to dock the Soyuz Space capsule with the International Space Station. They are subjected to a spin in the facility's rotating chair and more candidates are sent home.
