I find this hard to believe.

It looks like a data or mapping error, Google Earth is full of those when they try to convert height data into 3d models.

Also, as that "wall" is along the 180º meridian, I suppose it's a result of overlapping (or failing to join) the two sides of the height map when they applied it to the Earth's model.
