ah heck and here i thought your sister was both his and hers..
you've spoiled my chuckle... :P

Despite it costing nearly $400, it will probably go in the bin as soon as it gets here.  I've had angina thinking about it.  Given how evil I believe smartphones are, I'm not sure what caused me to buy one.

Actually I do know.  It's because I want to find a concrete reason for being grateful to be alive in the current society; and I figured that ending my current isolation might be an important first step to doing that.

I just wish that said society wasn't such an amoral, dystopian pile of dung.

hey

life is what you make it.. give yourself a good shake and find a positive use for the phone..
you can't change society ..you can only change yourself
if you toss that amount of cash and an item you have just tossed your reason to move on..
help yourself
work on feeling less like whatever it is you feel and move to what you would like to be..
only you can do that..
good luck

URGENT WARNING - What YOU need to know about 5g Technology

Published on Dec 9, 2017
Cancer, autism, nervous system and brain damage, decline in human life spans and fertility rates, sperm counts, depression and ANXIETY.... all side effect of 5g radiation. Please research this subject immediately and go to the school board meetings and the town hall meetings to keep this far away from our school children, if that is even possible.

People love their iPhones and iPads and WiFi more than their own lives it seems. They turn a blind eye to the very real health risks and repercussions of these cell towers... because they don't want to give up the toys (cellular smart phones and wifi devices)

It's just a sad fact of our fallen culture. Perhaps the EMP or Solar Flare taking down this dangerous radiation grid isn't such a bad thing in the long run.

Thor, I thank you for those videos.  Truthfully I already know about the malevolent intentions with which mobile phones have been invented; said awareness has prevented me from buying one for a long time.

I've realised, however, that at this point, I fundamentally have two choices.  I can commit suicide, or I can try and live in the world as it exists, rather than as I would prefer it to be.  I don't want to commit suicide, so I am going to try and adapt.

There are some here who might tell me that suicide is actually the morally preferable option.  I might even agree with them in theory, but I don't want to die yet.

And some might say that getting a phone is suicide. :)

Petrus, as always you have free choice and free will in all things; but don't push the reset button, unless you just want to come back and do it all over again

Please point me to any who would suggest that so I can smack them with a carp  8)
you are too far away for me to travel there, but I will see if I can get Soma or Biggles to drop by and smack you a time or two  8)

Very nice striper, Thor; but remember, a one-armed man like me could use a wee bit smaller one as a slap jack  8) but we can arrange to cook that sucker up with some fries and hush puppies along with a side of coleslaw  8)

I missed the delivery to my house, and now I'm going to have to go and track it down at some depot somewhere, because it's a courier company and not Australia Post.  I am debating whether or not to bother, although I will likely ring the courier company in the morning, if I'm up at the time.

I just wish getting the phone didn't feel like such an act of self-betrayal, because I also feel like I need it to move forward.

Petrus, go find the package, look at it, play with all the bells and whistles, see how it feels; then, if it doesn't do anything for you, sell it to someone just having conniptions wanting that particular phone...

I refused to do facespook for years, then finally created an account; then took several months before I actually started using it; sometimes a little change is a good thing...

I just got it tonight.  Design is good, screen and back camera are both powerful, everything works.

On the down side:-

a}  The interface is the most idiotic and exasperating thing I have ever seen or experienced.  Typing more than minimally is infuriating; it's constant hunt and peck, and the areas for each letter are too small for my fingers.  There is no way out of the camera app back into the launcher, without turning the thing off and turning it back on.

b}  There is a pervasive sense of malignance and malevolence from using it.

b1}  I can't access the general browser at all without letting it access literally every form of personal information I have; if I don't let it track my location, the browser simply shuts down and dumps me back out to the launcher.

b2}  I am limited to very few specific actions, which feel a lot like they're only the actions that someone else wants me to be able to take.  I can access Chrome, but that only has a list of preselected apps; Google, Facebook, Wikipedia etc; the canned corporate stuff.  I can't get a general http address prompt.  Whenever I am in Chrome, there is also always some headline about some terrorist bombing or horrible form of death that someone has experienced at the bottom of the screen, and the launcher itself goes to an app listing unbelievably negative headlines with a left swipe, as well.

I've turned it off and put it in my drawer.  I will get a sim card for it probably; but aside from occasional phone calls or use of the camera, I can't see myself using it very much.  The camera is nice, so some photography might be fun, but there is still heavy guilt and a sense that I am willingly perpetuating fascist dystopia by using it.

I have come to believe recently, that there is something in this society which is actively encouraging as many people as possible to kill themselves; and I think the use of negative news media on phones would definitely be part of that.

well if you have come to that conclusion what the hell are you doing to change it..
are you going to fight the impulse - ask yourself what now and  find a positive means to combat such influence
or are you going to bow to it and  ?

we all have such power if we would only recognize what grand creatures we really are..
and on this planet at this time you DO HAVE A CHOICE
maybe the next place you don't
choice wisely  but do choose and stop chasing your tail

On the down side:-
The bright side of the down side: start looking at "rooting" the phone. Android is a Linux system, so once you get access to the root account you can change the operating system to a different one or even make your own, if you know how to do it.
