This is probably what pushed all the hot air into Las Vegas this week

Yellowstone is up to no good. Very interesting stuff. I've been all over the net today, so I can't remember where I read it, but it is claimed one of the calderas, as a whole has uplifted a bit.

Before anyone jumps me on the issue of how many calderas there are, there are three, each of them from separate historic eruptions there.

Take care of yourself.

I am watching the tropical updates now on the weather channel; looks like Thor may get 3-5 inches of rain; I am in the 5-8 inches of rain slot. Fortunately, this whole side of the state will have to flood drastically before I have to climb on the pontoon boat  8)

we are under a flash flood alert until midnight tonite...

they just updated the numbers, appears we both are in the 3-5 zone as of now, will probably change several times between now and Friday.

Keep an eye on them, Z; you know how fickle the desert can be when it's that hot and those unexpected storms roll in...

Sounds like a haboob in the offing

Thank you.

As a volunteer firefighter for 51 years, hurricanes fit perfectly with our tree removal skills, and, being First Responders - roadblocks by the 'authorities' dissolve when we show up.   ;D

We generally roll with a 75-foot bucket truck, crane, T-300 tracked Bobcat and half a dozen support 4WD trucks, 20 or so saws and 6-12 crew persons, all professionals, plus, my partner, Tim, is a US Army medic, Captain of our local volunteer fire department, and a professional tree slayer. Because sometimes things can get a bit bizarre immediately following a disaster (think Katrina), most of us have concealed carry permits.   ;)

Sometimes, it takes longer to set up the equipment that it does to remove the offensive tree from the dwelling.

My cell # is: 678-725-1523. It does not work here in the mountains where we now live.

We'll keep you posted as events draw nearer.

Much Love.

Well since I'm first to get hit with all the rain, I thought I'd pass along an update.

This is at 6:13 CST...

This is a closeup of where I live, Belle Chasse, La.

Not too worried about this rain event, been through many a tropical storm...the local pumps are manned and ready (all that FEMA money paid for the upgrade)  ;D

I'm just worried about my daughter and grand daughter who are on a cruise right now and suppose to return on Thursday to New Orleans port.. They might have some rough weather to get home.... ???
