No, most people do not think, much less think things thru to a foreseeable conclusion,Sarge;

The wind doesn't always blow, and for half a day the sun does not shine; battery back up systems are expensive, and do not have long duration storage at high output usage

For a homesteader, wind and solar work great, especially if the have a source of running water that can be tapped to spin a pelton wheel and generate extra power, but the deal the enviro wackos (like Gore and Bloomberg) are pushing has major drawbacks and pitfalls as demonstrated in that Texas town

Al Gore has a huge carbon footprint, and he has enriched
himself preaching a gloom and doom scenario.
