something strange

One night last fall, I saw something wierd when I was leaving work.  It seemed to be some sort of creature, but I have no idea what.  It made me think of a scrub brush sized dust mop come to life.  It was about the size and shape of a scrub brush, with appendages spaced evenly all the way around.  When I saw it, it was flowing up over the sidewalk from a storm drain.  It stopped as I drove past, and I had a strong sensation that it was looking at me.  It was quite bizarre.
