Nice pics, sky: I had a very good view of the crescent tonite also, just didn't notice any satelites at the time; but here in Ga the sun was still an hour of so from setting when when I was observing it on the drive home( didn't leave work until after 7  ::)

Here in Clearwater beach, it was crystal clear for a couple hours around 8-10pm. Very clear night with nearly no moisture!
I cant wait for the transit of Venus in June, thatll be very cool!
This was the view of sunset tonight, and the moon shots didnt come out so please enjoy this token of my sorrow!LOL!

I didn't see that, but I saw and photographed this one. :)

Nice photo, Armap: but what is causing the divot in the earth's shadow at the 4 o'clock position?

I think that's the result of the highs and lows of the Moon's surface.

A mountain will project a long shadow in a situation like that, with the Sun very low over the horizon.

I saw that too, seeker, could it be a geological formation making that big a spot? it seems very deep if it was, so maybe some sort of EM effect, perhaps?
Beautiful picture nevertheless!

Thanks, the seeker, sky otter and Littleenki. I love taking photos of the Moon. :)

Today we can see that that area was probably the area between Mare Crisium and Mare Tranquillitatis.

I should have taken a photo showing the illuminated area with more detail. I will try it next month. :)
