Well there were those recent Chinese Moon images that I haven't found yet....

*hint hint*

...and you only got yourself to blame - if it wasn't for you I'd be watching Who wants to be a celebrity chef millionaire survivor!

So yeah - your fault!

;D

If you find anything in the new LRO data that looks like a probe where a probe should not be, I'd recommend getting in touch with Elon Musk's company.

Such a probe would contain instruments - instruments which have gathered valuable data and which cost someone a fortune to send moonwards.

*Don't go any less than $10 000. Hold out if they try and haggle you down because you've got the upperhand here.

Be nice if we could keep this thread for Allan Sturms images.

Lets put LRO and Chines non pictures into a new thread.

There are hundreds of anomalies in these images according to Allen and some of these images we have already looked at ourselves.

too many images at once just buries everything :D

I 2nd the thanks this is incredible I rotated some pictures what you can see is incredible. Buildings villages some big some small huge strip mining. I think much of what we view as craters are strip mines just amazing  :) :)

Its amazing what keeping them in black and white does to the image it all blends together. If these pics were in true Lunar color we would see so much more going on. I am so happy to be here!!!  :) 8)

I'm not an expert but I'll bet you military Photographic Intelligence prefer to use colour photographs for aerial surveillance.  It definitely shows things that are difficult to spot on black and white picture (greyscale).  Notice how Clementine is colour (Navy Project).  Coincidence?  Nope.

I did some work for this company the other day  :-X

I know that using ultraviolet (or infrared, I don't remember which) helps to distinguish what is natural from what is artificial.

That's what I was thinking, I don't remember seeing something visible in colour but difficult to spot on greyscale. But I do remember seeing things better in greyscale than in colour, as it's easier to become a victim of optical illusions, as the way our vision works is very dependent on colour.

No coincidence, as they were not colour photos, they were greyscale images from several different filters, like the photos from all other probes/satellites/rovers/landers that I remember.

I read in some material from Navy intelligence reading lists that they use infra red in "mapping" but it hinted for more than that.

In my experience working for DIA/SSO we would have to put together everyday the NID (National Intelligence Daily) which was a report put together in DC and transmitted to Hq's. In my case USSOUTHCOM. We would receive the message, read it, analyse it and then put it in  a form that the American Ambassor, the COS CIA, and the CINC would could perview in a timely manner. That included adding maps or photos of the areas that were being discussed. All photos we used were black and white. We had a massive library of photos of military equipment, personnel and maps. That was the most interesting time I spent in the military. We never, ever used color. We found it was easier to identify objects be it a bear Tupolev Tu-95 or a map of Djibouti  Africa.

That's really interesting.  At an RAF recruitment event, I was shown colour aerial pictures.  I seem to remember identifying some Phantoms (easy I suppose) but not being able to see some artillery positions that were under some trees.  If I remember, some of the pictures were B&W but some had colour.  Maybe they gave us colour to make it harder?
