Just watched the movie Escape from Alcatraz which starred Clint Eastwood who Played Frank Morris who planned the escape with two other inmates the Anglin Brothers.

I thought that it was in genius how they did it !

Mythbusters tested this on one of there episodes.

They even made a boat out of jackets and used it to go from the island to the shore at night.

You can watch it on youtube.

Hi Vandalis,

Yes I have seen that program and found it interesting.

Its just hard to say if they really did make it and survive or drown..

but if I recall the program did suggest it was possible !

I recall seeing something of another escape from Alcatraz and the inmate did manage to swim to Land, more or less by himself after starting out with others who soon got into trouble, but he ended up in a bad way and was recaptured...so it was possible... he also did it the longer route if i recall which was quite remarkable.

With the June 1962 escape...which is 50 years ago this month...its hard to say if they made it to Angel island as portrayed in the movie or went more with the flow of the current towards the Golden Gate bridge.

It was a good story what ever happened.

Zzz time...more later today !

Cheers
