Greetings:

What a great fish story!

QuoteQ: Where is Clementine now?

A: The spacecraft, as you know, from the name Clementine, is only supposed to be here for a short period of time and be lost and gone forever, so it was intended for a very short period of time after this lunar mission, did a rendezvous with the earth, and shortly after that was shifted by the moon's gravity and continued a flight which will bring it back near the earth about nine years from now.

So it's an 11 year total flight around the sun. So basically it's moving like a little planet around the sun, and it will bring it back close to us in about nine years... It's two years since it left us so it will be another nine years before it's back. (2005)

But it's not useful right now.

The mission is finished.

Are we the only ones who think that this statement seems rather odd in relation to the 'thruster' stories previously put-forth?

Another great thread that leave us wandering and wondering about our moon.

It depends on who said that.

Do you mind posting the source? :)

Or does it just depend on whether it is true?

In this case, if we are comparing it with something that was said by someone before, we can only know if it "seems rather odd" if we know who said it, regardless of being true or not.

If it was said by the same persons that made the previous statement about the thrusters, then it seems odd, if it was made by someone that has no relation with who made the statement about the thrusters, then it doesn't seem odd.

If it's from the same persons, not only is it odd, one of those (or both) statements is incomplete or false.

I see what you mean.  I can't fault your logic. :)

Greetings:

If we didn't know better, Dear ArMap, we might think you was a'trollin' we'uns...   :P

It has nothing to do with 'who' said it.

It has everything to do with conflicting stories brought forth in all their glory in Z's OP.

It was brought to a logical conclusion on Page 2 of the Clementine thread.

... we thought... been wrong before.

Now, how 'bout it?

I know NOTHING about what you guys are talking about here with the Clemintine project but I did catch a reference to it on another thread where someone said that it was a NAVY project.

Can anyone confirm that?

By the way....
Go Navy.    Linda

It has, if who said something was someone that does not agree with the person(s) that said the other thing. If you say that "soccer suck, hokey rules" and I say "hockey sucks, soccer rules", that's not the same as if those two sentences were said by you or by me.

What OP, the one with only one image?
Or are you talking about a different thread? If you are, how should we know which one you are talking about?

I see that you are really talking about a different thread, it would have been nice to know about that other thread. A simple link would be enough. :)

It was a Department of Defense project, with spacecraft design, manufacture, integration, and mission execution done by the Naval Research Laboratory. NASA provided the communications, if my memory isn't failing. :)

Greetings:

And now we are the confused one...

Somehow, we were under the impression that this thread was the DISCUSSION thread for the OP:

That's why we're here, discussing the OP that we all read, right?

Sorry for not providing that linky last post...

We still love ya, ArMap.

Doesn't OP mean Opening Post (or Poster, according to the context)?
To me, opening post refers to the opening post of the thread we're in, not the opening post of a different thread, that's why I wasn't understanding what you meant by that.

I still don't understand the logic of having a topic thread (apparently that's what they're called) and a discussion thread, it looks like an added layer of confusion for people like me. ;D

Thanks. :)

Where do I get a manual explaining how this forum works? ;D

lol ArMap you are a classic.

Epic thread z - BUT the 1st link to http://pdsmaps.wr.usgs.gov/PDS/public/explorer/html/multintm.htm gives me broken link when I click on the map on any setting :/ .

The 2nd DoD link works - but I want the 1st. Also is there a color version of that map we can look at?

Cheers! Gonna re-read that thread again, and again..

**edit well this works OK http://www.mapaplanet.org/explorer/moon.html but the 1st link didn't.
