I have deliberately stayed away from this forum for a long time now, but have been referred to it so many times, that I have had to bite the bullet and join in.

Why you might ask would anyone not want to participate in this hugely interesting place?

Simple, because I can't stand bickering, especially around such important subjects.

May I suggest that we consider adopting as our "golden rule" the raver concept of PLUR?
(peace love understanding and respect?)

Before hitting that send button, would it really be too much for us thoughful and intelligent types to ask ourselves "Is there a nicer way of challenging that post which I do not agree with" than simply posting a blunt refutation?

I've put this to the test personally, across multiple forums and it's been most successful IMHO. You'll usually get more (not less) politeness and respect from me if I feel the need challenge your posts. Largely because I REALLY WANT TO KNOW, and I have found that people are much more forthcoming with the information if you give them a bit of respect for having the guts to post their particular truth. Also it makes climbing down form a "wrong" position that much more graceful and easy.
Also from a purely selfish perspective I wouldn't be struggling so hard to catch up, if there were't so many spurious arguments to wade through in amongst the "gold" taht some people are posting here.

Food for thought?

We understand your frustration.

This is being handled internally at the moment.

I will let this post stand for a while... but if left open it will only attract those responsible
