MRO got a snap on this location called the dusty slopes of Mars Pavonis Mons volcano.

Looks like a concave perimeter with a hole.

I would say sun from 8 o'clock concave with a slight dusting field going off to 1 o'clock and out of frame, about 2/3rds the width of the outer circle.  I would give this dome some more time and it will totally collapse. Cracks are everywhere now. Do you have a larger photo of this so I can follow the debris field? Deuem

It's phages nipple!

Really looks artificial.

I think they call those things "craters".  ;)

It's similar to the other holes that have been photographed, only in this one the depth is much lower, so we can see the bottom.

I think that the "crater over lava tunnel" explanation is the most likely to be right.

Shouldn't a dome be convex instead of concave?

There's a larger (the real size) photo here.

It does not matter what they want to call it, it looks like it fell in and is now concave. Going past center most likely made the stress cracks and dropped out the center on the end snap. When this falls the rest of the way it should crack into parts. Like pizza slices. Then look like a lot of other domes that have collapsed.

On the size:
I should have wrote, larger in area. I wanted to follow the plume to the 1 o'clock position.
That site has nice Hi res photos of the same photo here. Thanks   deuem

That hole could be a hit from above that detonated underground like a nuke blast convexing the material up and the after result would be a settling of the ground to a concave finallity. In this case, it looks like a beam weapon opened the ground as whatever was beneath erupted in a sphere convex perimeter expansion and settled back down to a concave with a hole.

The ground would be altered from a molecular softened state to a hardened state after the energy weapon ceased feeding the zero point.

Its all part of the planet god o war, war. Just for grins, ya notice Mars is Wars - M or W turned this way or that way.

Zorgon has a locked thread goin on right now and in page two he has a photo.

Astronauts say they found orange glass beads in the crater and rim. Nukes do that here on earth after the heat turns the ground glassy. Depending on the energy weapons power, seems this could be a case of space war artifacts.

Here's another Mars mystery. Mars blue berries. Perhaps energy weapons used again to alter the molecular state of an above ground structure or life forms shattering to colored beads.

Edit: the image information.

I have looked at this in every way. I have looked at other pics of it. I do not see anything "concave" about this. To me it looks more like a conical pyramid. Yes, I am aware of the different looks that we can have with an object like a crater. If some of you see it as a crater, then fine., but, so far, I don't see what you see, if that is the case. ??? ???

Looking at the top headline image of the MRO snap. The crater shadow gives perspective to the concave look.

If the image was a convex, the side of the cone would be brightly lit by sunlite. and a shadow would fall accordingly.

Look at the light from the sun as it feathers a shadow on the left and down. And in the center of the hole the shadow shows which direction the light is shining from.

So the sun is from the viewers left as it brightly reflects on the images right. Thats the give away its concaved.

Edit to ad: from the link in your post,

The origin of the larger hole that this pit is within is still obscure. You can see areas where material on the walls has slid into the pit. How much of the missing material has disappeared via the pit into the underground cavern?

Too symmetrical to be natural, rdunk, eh?

That's one of the silliest things that can be said by a human being, as human beings have several perfectly symmetrical parts.

Unless they think that humans are not natural. :)
