"crawling out of my mancave"

Just for this one time comment.

Where did religion originate and why?
Was it a belief, was it faith, or was it a tool for control.

would you mind taking the religion stuff to that area..pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee

inserting this continous back and forth into every freakin thread is very counter productive to the whole and totally makes me think of linda and i don't want to go there..

Well kdog, I was going to make a commenting reply. But, with the OP's most recent post here, and even though sky's first sentence of the OP had the word "religion" in it, I will simply refrain - - (But I do go with the answer to you of "God"!) :))

QuoteYa know LE, I have heard countless testimonies of Christians, who, before they found and accepted Jesus as Savior, they had the very same feelings as you. Many of them didn't want to hear it, they didn't want to go to Church, and they just pursued their own thing. And they everyone expressed strong thanksgiving to God for their finding "the truth", and for their eternal life changing experience, in Jesus.
True in some aspects, Rdunk..I thank "God" everyday when I honor "God's" universal existence through MerKaBa meditation. I dont want to hear anything about a book or scroll or any of that unless it was written by "God" itself. But I do know there is a life source which we all have within us..you just call it something different. Remember what I posted earlier this month..."we both go to sleep at night knowing we are truly believing in the same thing"..I meant that brother!:D

QuoteI know that information may not mean much to you now, but, someday it might, especially if some of your thinking/priorities begin to change.

LE, just  a final note on this. There has never been a Christian born as a Christian. We all are born separated from God, and all, including those who have become Christians, reach a point(s) in life where a choice is available - to either accept the Savior Jesus, or not. No one is forced to accept the Savior. Every man gets to make his own choice, by his/her own free will. And yes, Christians do believe that the choice results in either "eternal life" or "eternal hell" - that is just simply well known, as stated in the Bible.

Right you are, Rdunk, and when a baby is birthed, and hits the air, it has zero concept of "Gods" and "Devils" so it is at it's most pure state. It receives input from day one, and really the progression of a child goes down from there in a spiritual aspect, until it thinks for itself...so many are roped in and brainwashed when young, they never have a chance to decide whats right and whats not.

Thats where the issue I have starts..why arent children allowed to learn all the options, before they are forced into a doctrine designed to control and supplant all free thinking?

Thats where I see the whole shooting match going wrong.

Aside from that, Most of us other than the diehard atheists KNOW there is a source of life in this universe, and some just dont allow the writings of mankind to sway their enlightenment and reasoning.

It's all good though..I have my mind aligned with that life source, and am confident it will pay off! Im sure your commitment will too, and we will join each other wherever we go when we leave the meatsuit...somewhere really nice!:D

Have great night Rdunk!

Skyotter ,it's my fault.
When I come out of the cave,I have a tendency to poke things with a stick.

I don't block anything. I like to read everything, and sometimes i read stuff & think 'what?' but it's useful to see what others are thinking.
I don't have to agree with it :P
I was very busy reading all the threads during the Linda/Mikado debaucle, and most of it was simply not worth reading (and indeed was 'cleansed' for that reason) but i read them anyway.
As you all know, i'm not religious (except for a hint of Buddhism) and i respect all other views, as long as there is no attempt to 'enlighten' me or take over the topic of my threads (even atheists can do that) then i have no problem at all with it.They have to accept me, just as i have to accept them :)
It's simply a matter of personal choice, like how you have your hairstyle, and has no bearing on you as a person, IMHO

It is my feeling that we are, as humans, duty bound to help & support each other & to try to make the world a better place. That's from a common sense standpoint, not a religious one.
But we both share the same goal, so who cares?

Got room for 3 on that swing on the porch, Sky?

I am in total agreement with you on this

yes but bringing religion into it at every opening is what gets to me personally But we both share the same goal, so who cares?

well hubby and i have been together 41 years in oct and that is the only thing that keeps us together.
.sharing the same goals..cause in most every OTHER way our approach to those goals
is totally oppsosite the other
so i guess finding a way not to hear what annoyed me..was  just reflex of being married so damn long
hahahahahahahahah

i respect all points of view..and try to be kind with it..
i thought this was a kind way to not argue the point
i just don't like someones belief system pushed in my face with every other subject
so consider my looking for a way not to hear it as a character flaw of no patience
that's how my mother looks at it
she also tells me that being brutally frank is past being honest   ;D

so  i will leave ya with this tiny little thing that petsrus found that you can use on me
besides the buddy list is an ignore list..
.add my name and when i post a little thing comes up that says

you are ignoring this poster....no one else knows
and you can be calm and continue
without my two cents
gotta luv it

I think were gonna need a bigger swing...and a cooler full of newkie broons, Sky, is there a lumberyard near you? LOL!

I agree with you both, that as humans we are obliged to connect with our fellow men and women, beyond the physical.

Beliefs are a constraint to normal human bonding, and as such should be kept within the narrow band of mind and only allowed to disseminate when asked about.

We werent put here to conflict with each other, unless our creator was trying to make this a big video game for fun, so why do we as humans act as if we are in a video game then?

Gotta Win, gotta defeat, gotta control, gotta convince...ARGH!!!..Competition is the acid for the soul! The only vestige of these four we had upon creation was to survive and do it as a team..one big team, not two or three or more as we are now.

Competition is what has crushed the love and tolerance in our society for millenia, and someday we will realize it. The only game we need to win is the game of life.

Im enjoying the swing for a while, and Im sharing my Single Malt with whoever wishes to taste...metaphorically speaking of course. :D

Cheers!
