China firm sues Obama over blocked US wind farm deal

QuoteA Chinese-owned firm in the US is suing President Barack Obama after he blocked a wind farm deal on national security grounds.

Ralls Corp, a private firm, acquired four wind farm projects near a US naval facility in Oregon earlier this year.

Mr Obama signed the order blocking the deal last week. The lawsuit alleges the US government overstepped its authority.

It is the first foreign investment to be blocked in the US for 22 years.

Good post, Sky, and Mr Obama does have a leg to stand on, albeit not a leg the Chinese businessmen who stand to make a fortune from this windfarm seem to care for.

We as a whole are not doing what it takes to secede our needs from Chinese manufacturing, and thats one of the many things damaging our economy these days.

Far too many things we buy are being made in China, and its not a matter of making them here..its amatter of convincing the American public they dont need 90 percent of the crap China sells us.

Our corporate leadheads have sold us out for a buck, and theyve made Americans into materialistic greedy hogs of crap products.

Until we realize how the last thirty years have been corporations selling this crap to us has nearly destroyed our ability to live without plastic crap were going to keep getting poorer while China gets richer.

Its a fact that nearly everything in this materialistic yuppie soccer mommie world we see is made in China, and if we dont stop it now, our children will be even worse.

The problem is, the crap we buy from Walmart which we really dont need to live a normal life will be broken and in the landfill within a year or two, while the money we used to buy it is still residing in the Chinese banks.

I think its time for Zorgon's renaissance lifestyle to come back into fashion, and allow us to live without all the plastic trappings which the corporations who deal with Chinese manufacturers have convinced us we need.

Make a freaking wicker laundry basket from sticks for gods sakes people! Do things the old fashioned way..instead of buying some plastic piece of crap to do it for you! Live with the materials we have here, and dont allow any products from these disposable product corporations that use planned obsolescence to steal your money away a few dollars at a time.

And lets all shut down a dollar store somewhere near us...thats a great start!  Oh and harbor freight, too..and Walmart of course..and oh geez, this list will never end, will it? :(

Besides, our landfills cant take anymore plastic crap from China..theyre filling up fast!

Rant complete...

I like this "Our corporate leadheads have sold us out for a buck, and theyve made Americans into materialistic greedy hogs of crap products."

Modona do a good job at the Materialistic part.

Remember, you buy, they sell. it is easy. Your bosses stop you working to get it made cheaper. Soon your bosses will be Chinese. You should take a trip and see what it is like.

Not what you would think! I have a hard time counting Audies, BMWs, Jags and so on.

You need a balanced trade agreement....It is simple. No balance, no trade.

Besides, I could use some good US beef. oh, that is still banned?

How many things are banned?

When you have no more money left, you will figure it out.

Littleenki

Youre right, Dueum, it isnt even close to being China's fault, although everyone here says oh China sucks..blah blah blah..its the fault of the American greed system and American's unwillingness to live within their means, or with any semblance of oneness with nature.

All China does is say, sure, we will make that for you..here ya go. And the problem is, Americans desire so many little plastic do dads and things which they could live without made to fail in a year or two, it becomes perpetual...we spend and China earns.

Personally, if I could move to Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru, or somewhere like New Zealand with any secure feeling of having a job when I got there, or being able sustain myself without American ways controlling my every move, I would in a heartbeat, but as for now this country is the safest and best option.

In twenty years? Meh, probably not.

We will be buried under a mountain of plastic crap and disposable
products by then.

Cheers, Dueum...do you have a room for rent? :D

Always good to have job security....

Is that chain saw made in Chine?  :P

Somamech

Its going to be great when the Red army march onto American soil and the only language Americans know is Mandarin.

Its coming..and coming fast  :'(

Somamech

Honestly if anyone was interested in getting in on the start a small start up manufacturing biz I would highly suggest Indonesia.  They are kicking goals right now.

Was listening to an interview tonight where they are starting up mil production and know they cant do it themselves but at the same time require at least 25% is made in Indo along with some tech transfer.  They are on the program and kicking goals.

Plus Foxcon the Taiwanese company have invested a metric crap load of money into a faciliity there...

Nice fruit there too that is actually sweet naturally from the tree.  :D

Hardly - wouldn't buy it if it was - look at the microchip fiasco    :P

QuoteAndreas Stihl AG & Company is a German manufacturer of chainsaws and other handheld power equipment including trimmers and blowers.

Their headquarters are in Waiblingen, Baden-Württemberg near Stuttgart, Germany.

Stihl was founded in 1926 by Andreas Stihl, an important innovator in early chain saw production.

Stihl is the world's best-selling brand of chain saws and is the only chain saw manufacturer to make its own saw chains and guide bars.

We have Lucky 13 of them in various sizes - from 14" up to 48"    ;D

We run only the best in a one-mistake sport    ::)

Are there any trees left in Las Vegas?     ;)
