Gary McKinnon Extradition to US Blocked

About time.  Hopefully now he can tell us the stuff he agreed to "forget" about. ;)

More to follow.....

YAY!! GO BRITISH HOME SECRETARY! JUST SAY NO!!

Good God, one of our politician actually showed some backbone...

Sorry chaps, you can't have him, and that's that.
(come and get him if you thnk you're hard enough!)

If you think the Iraqi's and Afghanistanis have given you trouble with IED's just try and invade the country that gave the world the industral revolution...

Wow, we still have some shreds of a national sense of fair play.

That's right cheered me up that has! I think I'll go and put the kettle on and see if I can find some patriotic english music. I really though they were going to fold and send him over there...

Oh here you go then.  How's this for Patriotic nonsense.   :o

"Britains never, never, never, shall be slaves."

Theresa May has made the right decision on Gary McKinnon, but there are wider implications

Ok, more seriously.....  This case has implications for whether cyber crime should be tried in the country where the crime was committed or not.  If I hack the Pentagon, how can the Pentagon prosecute me when I committed the offence in the UK?

Quote

It is 10 years since he was first arrested, and his case has come to symbolise a purported imbalance in the extradition arrangements between the UK and the US. But there is a further issue at stake here: should someone be extradited to another country for an offence that was not committed there? Mr McKinnon admitted hacking into the American military computer network, but never left his bedroom in London to do so. His lawyers argued that if a crime was suspected then he should be tried in this country. However, it is easy to see where that argument falls down. What if a terrorist plots an attack from this country that kills dozens in an American city: would we then say that he should not be sent for trial in the country where the atrocity happened? There was no campaign on behalf of Abu Hamza when it was decided to extradite him to America recently. There is also a wider issue here about internet crime since it can be committed in many jurisdiictions.

It is no coincidence that the 2003 Extradition Act followed the worst terrorist attack in history. It enacted the European Arrest Warrant and a new bilateral deal with America, both of which have been criticised – the former for removing any requirement for a prima facie evidence that crime has been committed; and the latter for being biased in favour of America.

We might be wrong but at least we are strong! (Goodness, when you get into it, this patritic stuff is quite heady isn't it? )

It was reassuring to see that the brit audience wasn't quiet so serious about it all as some other country's audiences seem to get.

Anyway, for the English out there, I am sure this is the song some of you really want to groove to:

I hope it works, I dont think I have ever tried embedding a video before...

Kerry Cassidy Interview with Gary McKinnon

Here is a Camelot interview with Gary.  This is especially for those of you not familiar with this case or who may need a reminder.  In this interview he describes downloading a picture of what looked like an alien craft and reading a list of "non-terrestrial officers" and seeing the Navy space ships they were assigned to.  If you haven't seen it this is a must view peice of UFO history.

Oh yes, Kerry doesn't talk too much in this one and Gary is allowed to be centre stage.  :o

I'd like to know whether Gary has his bail conditions lifted at this point.  Does anyone know whether that is possible now?

lastest i could find but dowsn't mention bail conditions..sorry

Well that is simple... as a foreigner attacking US facilities we can get ya under the catchall TERRORISM label  and then...  to quote an enforcer...

And that would not be a laughing matter!

Now I look at it this way... after four days of dealing with putting the forum back on its feet thanks to either a hacker, script kiddie, anonymous goon or what have you... I lean to the above solution for ANYONE that thinks hackers are cool :P

My bank called me at the same time and asked about suspicious activity on my account... Fortunately that was a false alarm as the new server appears to be based in London so the charge oversea for the account set off a red flag

Also a few weeks back hackers stole 420,000 email passwords from Yahoo accounts and 1 million from LinkedIn...  THAT effected me being locked out of my email account and needed a password reset at Earthlink and Amazon ( I still had the same password there)  Also don't forget the not so long ago email and password theft at ATS where over 8000 names were compromised

And these emails and password get POSTED in public so any script kiddie? hacker wanna be can mess with you

Not that long ago we found that SKYPE was compromised and many should remember the trouble THAT caused us here

So yeah as far as hackers go, Executioner has the right idea :D

Gary will make a GREAT Poster Boy for Marijauna use :P

"The Americans have a secret spaceship?" I ask.

"That's what this trickle of evidence has led me to believe."

"Some kind of other Mir that nobody knows about?"

"I guess so," says Gary.

"What were the ship names?"

"I can't remember," says Gary. "I was smoking a lot of dope at the time. Not good for the intellect."

I rest my case

Ah, so what? Bill Gates probably smoked a few doobies when he was working on his software :o Certainly explains a lot about the Windoze structure :P

I understand the problem with kiddies getting their hands on passwords etc but this guy is being completely honest about it (and very humble, too, not yer average hacker at all)

The way i see it, he's right, this info should be gotten out by any means and given to the people who paid for it....
In any case, it's their own fault, blank passwords, how dumb is that???

biggles

There are hackers who steal from other people and then there are hackers who think to themselves...........I wonder, I wonder if I can get into NASA or this or that highly classified site and see what I can see.

If their security was so great no one would get in but Julian Assange, (bless his heart but I do love Julian) and Gary had the nerve to hack into something people arent supposed to.

Well suck it up NASA and whoever else, your not infallible.  Plus, Gary has a form of autism and smoked pot, I give him a get out of gaol free card and as for Julian well he is a darn good dancer I know cuz i have seen him dance and I think his good looking so he gets a get out of gaol card as well.  So there.   :P
I know that I know nothing - thanks Capricorn.

His not bad for his early 40's, brains and good looks on the dance floor.

I have a real hard time with people like Asange and  McKinnon and so called 'hackers'.. 'Well we just want to see if we could do it' or 'I think they're evil so I can do what I want and expose they're evil deeds'.. Or 'Dude I was just stoned and did it for a lark'. A hacker, is a hacker is a hacker is a hacker. They are criminals and I don't give a damn what's the cause (Because everyone's cause is justified). I hope they all burn in hell....Just saying ::)

And I have a problem with the US sending off their young men and women to get killed and maimed for nothing but their own bloody hidden agendas.  So they can bloody burn in hell as well.

Assange has got guts, Gary sat at his computer one night stoned and as we well all know has a form of autism.  He should not be sent over to the US Nazi Homeland bloody security for them to do whatever, the UK wont have it and that's that.

And Assange got tied up just because he can get girls into bed if he wants.  That was consensual in Sweden and everyone knows it, it is just the two women got gently persuaded  ::) to change their minds.

Credit where credit is due Rock.  If they were ripping off people that would be another thing but Julian was brought up by a radical mother all his life and was determined to get to the truth and ooooh, the arseholes over in the US ptw dont like it, stiff.
