As a matter of interest, Don Meredith's hometown of Mount Vernon, Texas, is only about 50 miles from my hometown. He was a great football player - better at football than singing!! :)) Two years "All-American" selection while playing for SMU, and three-time Pro-Bowl selection while Quarter-backing the Dallas Cowboys.

Sky, I am not sure whether this is a serious question or not. But with the chance that you are not serious sky,...................., anytime Don sang this, no matter how much time is left in the football game - the winner has already been decided. IE., "the party's over".

Now, if your thought is a more serious/deep question, maybe relative to "life"....................well, in my opinion (of course), in the "game of life" that in the which we are all involved, Dandy Don's song applies in the "right now", just as well. The "game" is still going strong, but, the end result - the winner - is already decided (as I said, IMHO). There is still a lot to be done, but the general thinking is we are in the very last minutes/seconds of that "game", and there is no chance of  "tie-game", with overtime.

i usually will not post on a thread where there is no discription of video.mt vernon is where i pay my electricity bill.ray price lives twenty minutes from me ,bo pilgrim has two mansions near by,and carrol shelby grew up where i get my hamburgers from.i think bonanzas hoss is buried near by too.oh and the creator of barney has a house out here on the lake.

and since im feeling crappy, major league football is rigged.what a waste of resources and manpower.better spent on science and education instead of damaging our childrens brains.just my opinion.

rduink..
i gues both..
dandy don was a gentlemen and i have gret memories of monday night footbal and my dad's bar in the basement and all of us breaking into song with him..
so could be just a pleasant memory

but
we all get info from the universe (fill in your own concept here) in many ways..it's our job
to figure out if it's usefull or not

after a day full of it i couldn't make up my mind so that is why i posted..
so i agree with both of your choices..

robo when you're feeling crappy isn't the best time to post.....just a thought

ah seeker..ya got me..
but i was hoping for anyone saying yeah or nay to
what the song is saying

we do all react differently to different stimuli
and lately i have been wanting to 'stock up'..way more
than the ususaly fall squirrell stuff..and
laughing at myself at the same time..cause what i will need isn't in the psysical

years ago i would jump first and then yell ouch..now i kinda
wait for a few before charging ahead..
and i have learnt that sometimes no one else hears
sigh
but i ask anyway..you just never know who will answer
or what may come out of it..

maybe just a good memory, huh.. ;)

sky, i believe you are possibly being led to think like many in this country are recently - the "party" of life as we have know it in this country seems to be quickly changing, for the worse, especially this past four years. From many viewpoints most everything is negative, and if this 2012 election goes the wrong way, things could get really bad.

So, there are a lot of reasons for "stocking up" as you put it. We always have the possibility for one of all sorts of calamities, that could cause great shortages of services and supplies. The sad thing this is, most of us don't do much about making provision, for the "just in case", even when it would seem to be the logical thing to do. There are a few basic necessities of life that we should have on hand, just as "insurance" for any difficult situation.

From your comments, it would seem that you may do some of that anyway!! Good!  8)

My opinion: Yes, the Party is Over... over for all the Doom and Gloomers and Chicken Little's, everything is going to be alright, obviously not without trials as there have always been.... but we will live on, and most likely into a better world!

another reason to stock up is inflation.buy now while its kinda cheap.
im on a fixed income and i know for a fact food has gone up in price by 25% in the last year.
i did have a stockpile but now i barely do.
from the economist i keep up with on a weekly basis, the trend is to continue until 2020.learning to live off the land now and doing so now, will help control your budgets for food in the future,if your a smoker, doing so now can save tremendous amounts of money and taxes.personally i just got back my new tobacco seeds for next year.burley gold.

sorry for the attitude,i get so frustrated when people post youtube without a summary.ill try to tame my kneejerk reactions. : )

So, there are a lot of reasons for "stocking up" as you put it.

best reason for "stocking up" is to save money.

"A penny saved is a penny earned"

If you look around at store closings and manager clearance specials you can stock up cheap. It requires a little effort, and you have to watch between perishables and things that have a long shelf life (like jars of jam and honey)

We had a grocery store close out and I got 1lb jars of honey for .50 cents each.  Another deal was jam... they had the wrong logo on the label so they dumped them for .25 cents each

I have three freezers... one my original one from Canada still works great, one my mother gave ne when she moved out of her house and one commercial upright I picked up for $200.00 at a repair place.

Proper freezing you can sock away a lot of food and keep it for years... so buy cheap and stock up

Other advantage is our pantry is now like a small convenience store :D

So come bad weather, shortages or what have you  we are good to go

Now I just need to get a decent house size generator :D

"Now I just need to get a decent house size generator :D"

zorgon, a propane gen might be a consideration, or diesel - I had a small propane diesel (5500kw) that really worked great. Storage of fuel for "situations" is a problem, and both propane and diesel is easier to store for longer periods.

And plenty of led lights in the house, to help a little with power needs!

And maybe a "redneck" firearm of some sort!!      :))
