ive been reading conspiracy sites for about three years now.
it seems they have been becoming less of my life lately.
ats has really gone down hill.
i barely hear people speek of glp.

i dont consider this place a conspiracy site.
more of a knowledge site.
drudge report seems the closest to real conspiracies.

i believe there has been a slow disruption of these sites by the religious right.
at least ats really looks that way.

i created this thread as a general survey, not an argument against religion.

my question, are conspiracies dying or conspiracy sights and or why or why not?
ive never been much for rules.
being me has its priviledges.

i think fewer and fewer people have access to the internet, cause they lost their jobs and homes and life savings.  everything is getting hit by it.  i play world of warcraft video game. it's what they call a massive multiplayer online roleplaying game, otherwise known a mmorpg.  they are the biggest, most successful mmo to date, and have around since 2004 or so.

anyway, i noticed that fewer people were playing.  and then fewer. and then fewer.  i thought maybe they were losing ground to newer mmos, but then i realized it was because people who use to play it, had lost their jobs. many people who were ats, were people who had lost their jobs and were living with relatives or friends.   and then their friends and relatives lost their jobs.  it's snowballing.

world of warcraft is surviving by marketing to the chinese and brazilians (????).  i don't get the brazil thing.  the chinese thing makes sense, but what's going on in brazil?

that kinda surprises me.
i know the economy was bad but did not know the hit was that bad.

thanks for the heads up on that.

What are people entitled to money wise if they lose their jobs and cannot find another one in the US, just curious.   Sorry off topic, but if they havent got the money for the internet or even a place to live that would have an effect.
I know that I know nothing - thanks Capricorn.

Well the money/no job thing certainly is a factor on the internet in general. Once your unemployment runs out you will be saving money wherever you can to pay the important bills first  like food and housing

But as for conspiracy sites.... people are getting jaded and fed up.

Look at 2012... all those millions of webpages, book sales etc all pointing to Dec 21 2012 as the end... and now, a few weeks away and nothing earth shattering is happening, all those end of world supporters will have to hide under a rock... because you can bet some of us are gonna demand answers :P

No UFO disclosure has come or is going to.

You can only rehash the same old stories so many times before people get bored and want something new. And the new stuff... 99% is pure hogwash and outright hoaxes and the 1$ left is so0 buried in BS it never sees the light of day

The old timers are dying off... those that lived through the best years of the UFO scene are becoming extinct... John is turning 70 this year  :D And truth be told his memory does tend to miss a few thing from time to time.  Even I have that issue these days

So what conspiracy is left? How many times can we blame every natural disaster on HAARP?

And who are these elusive "Illuminati" that we can never quite identify?

Yup its run its course... been there done that to death... No one even looks at the old papers. I have 6000 plus files and no one has asked to look at any :D

we have a welfare program and social security.  to qualify for either of them you have to meet certain criteria.

for example, on the welfare program, if you lose your job but your spouse still has his/hers, you probably make too much money to be on welfare.

the welfare program is below the poverty line.  problem is, the cost of living is like nearly a 100% higher now than it was in 1970 (inflation adjusted!) and that's with both people working, whereas in 1970, it was typically only one person working. so if you're a married couple and one of you lose your job, you're likely to go into bankruptcy if the person doesn't get another job.

and that means losing your house, and etc. could also effect your chances at finding another job, because the businesses are now starting to check your credit rating before giving you a job and bankruptcy would ruin your chances of getting that job.

also, the welfare program gives more weight to a minority person out of work than a caucasian (minority is anyone who isn't caucasian. yeah our gov hates us. must be a hostile takeover).  so you have to be even poorer as a white person and in some cases, depending on where you live, you will never be poor enough if your white.  considering the USA is still majority white, this means there's alot of really poor white people who don't get any help at all.

social security requires you work for so many years, and pay into the social security system, before you can qualify for any assistance from them.

World of Warcraft:- An autopsy.

Blizzard killed WoW themselves.  The linked article was something I wrote before the Cataclysm expansion pack, which just put the soil over the coffin.  WoW lost 2 million players over the first two quarters since Cataclysm's release.

Long term, WoW first struck ice in around August of 2007, about six months after the release of TBC.  I literally felt it happen; like the grinding sensation when the iceberg ripped along the side of the Titanic.  The sink rate between then and Cataclysm was slow, and it was also masked somewhat by the fact that new people came in from the First Person Shooter (another genre of game) scene in order to play the Arena.  Then we drifted for a while until patch 2.3, which marked the real beginning of the end; and again, that was an intuitive thing.

I give World of Warcraft another three years, tops.  Probably less than that if Blizzard change things more than they already have.  WoW had a formula in the early days, and the original dev team recognised it.  Ghostcrawler and the rest of the B team they've got in now, have no idea what they're doing whatsoever; and the constant screaming in their ears from the Arena brats on the forum, doesn't help.

As far as the religious right taking over conspiracy sites; my money says that that isn't the real problem.  Sure, Before It's News has degenerated into a cess pit of rabid Christian fundamentalism, but that wasn't what I saw happen on ATS.

The thing that is really killing both conspiracy and occult forums, in my experience, is the rise of pseudoskeptical atheism.  Most of the forums I've been to have become infested with a group of people who simply keep up an endless, deafening chorus of insistence that literally anything that is being talked about, could not possibly exist; so the rest of us are all just cranks and nutcases for discussing it, and we should all just shut up.

The part that I really don't get, is why the staff of said forums are also taking the pseudoskeptics' side.  Nothing will get you banned faster on ATS than arguing with a pseudoskeptic, now.

The way we're going, humanity as a whole is only going to have two possible religious or philosophical choices available; Islam or pseudoskeptical/Dawkinsian neo-Atheism.  Everything else is possibly going to get wiped out by the aggression of those two groups.

skeptic over_ _ _ _
owns the place. you can expect skeptics to be his preferred flavor.  i use to get really irritated with how they treated john lear's moon thread, but that was nothing compared to what happened after that. once they managed to harrass john and bug the mods enough to get john removed from ats, they then proceeded to use him as the poster child for why you shouldn't believe anything is unusual on the moon.  sorta like how they treat the subject of sumer as if it was all completely made up by sitchin.  even the original sumerian texts are often treated like they are works written by sitchin and that "nibiru farce".

z is right though.  people were already pretty jaded by the time they realized how many things were going wrong in the first place, then add skeptics that don't know the difference between honest effort and hoaxes, and don't care either, they just want to rain on any parade out of the norm.

it's like a feeding frenzy at times.

Seems that the Government are still willing to offer advice on how we can prepare for 2012 with less than 27 days to go !  ???  :o

Are they taking any bets on it !.... then maybe we can Put all our  life savings and our Houses on it !... then if it happens what have we lost !
If it doesn't.... Could be a nice payday !  :)

How to survive the end of the world

If you believe the Mayan Apocalypse, the world is due to end in one month's time. It won't, of course - but governments already offer 'official' tips on how to survive nuclear war, asteroid strike, or even a zombie virus outbreak.

well where did all these overzealous skeptics come from?
it looks like an agenda to me.
the same agressive tendencies repeated over and over again.

i agree z.
time is ticking away.

heres my theory.
the superweapons are being stored for a generation to come.
after all thoughts of them are buried.
the people who built them will go to their graves with the secrets.

i believe their is a school of kids somewhere ,like a military accademy that is behind the downfall of ats.
i reason this because of the organization of the attacks.
almost like a homework assignment.
but its also easy to see their immaturity in their speech.
the religion part of their swarm makes me think midwest or mormon.
this would be an obvious location as ats headquarters is in pheonix i think.

i have never heard of the gov using children like this but maybe its happening.
i truly believe there is an agenda going on with all that ive seen  lately .
thankyou z for not tollerating it on here.
i like this peaceful world of deep thought and challenging discussion.

it seems the economy is going to stop science for a while also.or at least slow it down.ie rover on mars.
my kid can learn more from a physics book than what we are getting from nasa.
its like a purposeful dumbing down.
could this purpose be for depopulation?
it would sure make it easier to kill stupid people.
or to make a slave race.
maybe our future is closer to indias past.
different classes.

as far as the illuminati,i dont know.
in this world there is nowhere to hide.not even in plain sight.
every dark corner is illuminated, every quiet office complex on a dead end drive has been exposed.
every college bunker has been explored.

On reflection I can honestly say that this site (PRC) is my site of choice, I do visit GLP from time to time and do find some gems that are few and far between, this of course between the blanket IP bans their admin throws about frequently and which I would never in a million years request an unban.
I like John L. turn 70 mext month, I have in that 70 years seen two completely unexplained events outward and quite a few personal inward happenings that I file in my mind as "WOW"
I do have a new intrest in why so many people are bringing forward their worsening ringing ear problem as I have noticed a marked increase in the same problem personaly, wondering if anyone has thoughts on this.

Agreed.  This is the only forum I regularly spend time on, at this point.  Everywhere else that I know of has either died, been overrun with pseudoskeptical trolls, or both.  Disclose.tv isn't a forum, but still has the odd decent upload now and then.  Naturalnews.tv also has some good vids, but Mike Adams himself is barking insane at this point, as far as I'm concerned.  Rumor Mill News is worth checking out occasionally, if you don't mind the cranks, fundamentalist Christians, and fundamentalist Christian cranks. ;)

I've been to GLP very little, but have found it more a source of comedy than anything else.  ATS has degenerated into a sewer of atheistic misinformation and debunking, as mentioned.

You are referred to rules 8 and 9, of the Rules of the Internet.  There is a no such thing as an Internet forum, whose administrator is not a pathological narcissist.  Having one would be like a beach without sand. ;)

ats is crawling with:

muslims
democrats/socialists/marxists
atheists (the hostile variety)
christians
skin heads/neo-nazis/white supremacists
occassionally republicans, depending on whether there's an election coming up
and a small population of jewish people, who are more obvious during palestinian events

there also seems to be a sizable population of new agers, masons and nasa peeps.

if you're sensing that some of them are young, it may be just the newest generation of script kiddies and ANONYMOUS hackers, keeping up to date on who to harrass next. lol if you ever read a 4chan, it's like textbook pseudo skeptic, just for the lulz.

oh and there's a train load of racists on ats. i think they fit better under democrats and skin heads but some of them are various religions, and seem to be the most radical when they are posting from africa.  some of those guys are off the richter scale racists cause their societies are not multicultural by any stretch of the imagination and all they've ever had to read were racist materials.
