Any computer can handle it if you don't use the heavy weights.
All my video editing is done with free software that works on any computer capable of running Windows XP, it just takes more time to do with slower computers. :)

I run XP - but it likes to crash when heavily loaded.

z...............while this is your forum, and you for sure are one of those who continues to strive for attaining a high degree of personal satisfaction and success, that can bring comfort and happiness. However, without going back and re-reading your OP, what I did see in the first read, comes across a little like inviting the "Dark Side" into the "Force". So, in that respect, I have some concern as to whether is this really a "right path" for you to use in making this forum into the reality you are working toward??

Well...

If there was no Darth Vader and the Dark Side of the Force... there would have been no epic movies that needed Yoda and Luke to fight evil and we would never have seen those epics and we would not have all those cool Yoda quotes nor any knowledge of the Good side of the force :D

If there was no Dark Side brought into YOUR book the Bible, there would have been no knowledge of Satan and thus no reason for religious crusades to 'save' the sinners.

You cannot have the Light without the Dark... you need one to pit against the other or there is nothing to discuss :D

QuoteAre there other possibilities, besides "bringing on the trolls"? As "Brother Dave" once said, "if you have a great product, the World will beat a path to your door................., but advertising helps"!! And in that regard, the YouTube vids you mentioned could very well help bring that to pass, along with other such creative thinking/planning.

Yes and that is what we are looking at "creative thinking/planning" :D

QuoteAnother area - we are relatively short on member numbers here, and we members' real specific interests are generally directional. So, what that boils down to is, often there are just a few even interested in many of the subjects, as they cycle through for discussion.

THAT is the main point  We ARE short on members  and when we did the purge of all those who signed up but NEVER logged in 700+ members went to about 150 real people whether posters or just readers... When yo see a member list that has over 50% of members show "never" as last logon date you have a problem :D

When you have a few good members, those members already have their opinions worked out, so eventually conversation stops because you have already covered it all :D You need new blood to stimulate and stir the pot.

Also with the LEVELS of membership... there is one important factor required. New member have to be AWARE of how it works here and also have to KNOW what areas are offered in the private areas.  Now I can post that in a thread ( I actually did :P ) so people can see what is there by request, but who ever reads stuff like that? LOL  At some point ity will have to be on the front portal... but even that is bypassed when people Tweet with link directly to a thread, thereby bypassing the front door

The concept of private areas works ONLY if people that are 'in charge' of that area take the time to look at other posters and invite those that qualify to that area. So far Matrix is the only one who has done this :D

QuoteSo, maybe a suggestion for consideration.............no trolls on purpose, recruit more of "the best of the best" for membership, and market/market/market through the vids, and other.

The Trolls and hence the free for all would be at the other forum address... the original one. Sadly I have not had time lately to stop in there daily to let people know what is going on. It may require recruiting a few staff just to handle that area and send the good ones 'up the line'

You cannot recruit more of "the best of the best" if you don't first let them all in to SEE who is the "the best of the best"  You need to let them post and watch their posting style and their topic interests

Now a YT video on how PRC works would be an EXCELLENT starting point :D

Someone narrating would be better than those videos full of text, do we have anyone with a good voice (and accent, I'm not as good in speaking as I am in writing ;D )?

I know a BBC newsreader.  She is good but would only want to work on quality productions so we'd have to produce some half decent material first...

Wish I could, biggles.  Way too far away to step up to the plate.
Ama, you, I and Thor are all here in the peach state; we need to get you set up to do podcasts with callers on TAP; you just need to cool it on pushing the robots; humanity, as a whole, needs something to keep it's hands busy or idle minds lead to dark thoughts followed by acts...

I myself am contemplating video's I could make for the PRC channel, I also think using the original forum site as a catch all and screening room plastered with ads is a step in the right direction...

rdunk, i agree with all of your suggestions except the part about cheaters.

Well instead of 'cheaters' use the word 'tabloid' Steven Greer and Camelot have gone 'tabloid' and as a result, just like any other Tabloid that makes mega bucks entertaining people :D

So they are not cheaters, they are simply smart entrepreneurs that saw a way to cash in on their 'work'

Quoteif traffic is what you want then a permanent news thread would do that.
basically copy drudge.
thats what ats has become.
with a little huffpo and breitbart sprinkled in.

For that a Blog would be better... no forum... no website. A website is 'read only' and a forum is mostly just talk only... But a blog lets you post your news article, add your insight and leave it open to comments  and then chose those you feel are worthy of response.  If you can then boost good comments like YT does your all set

Quotethen we could compete with the bigdog networks.
bonuses paid if the event is thoroughly reported by a member.

That was my pet peeve at ATS and likely what really got me the boot when I started talking abouty it openly in the forum... the fact that ATS makes literally MILLIONS of dollars on the backs of their members.

Every real news agency out there pays its researchers/reporters royalty for articles. In fact had I gone that route to just write for main stream and other networks I could have sold many articles.

But at sites like ATS you sign away your rights in that you allow them non exclusive rights to sell your content... without the burden of paying you royalties. Now I am not talking about idle chit chat type posting, I am talking about those top 50 or so members that do the work and write the big topics that bring in the traffic.

I think if most people on ATS or GLP really knew just how much money these site make they would be shocked. (BTW GLP is bigger than ATS :P ) Yet I keep seeing comments on ATS from members that have no clue on the bucks. When you openly comment on that, you get deleted and banned.  I know because Springer at least wrote to me privately on some things and I still recall that conversation we had at the San Jose UFO expo in 2007 when he offered to bring us in under ATS

So I know what kind of money they make... and GLP charges members $100.00 a year if they want to be free of IP lockouts :P

If you want good news stories, if you want people to be currant, you need a staff of reporters, even if they are free lance. If then in turn your site is making money off these reporters, there should be no reason not to drop them a few bucks for submitting the article.

Again I can see that if you pay one then everyone wants some... but its easy enough to sort just regular commentaries from actual presentations for publishing.

Over the pat month personal issues have taken up a lot of time... especially where finances and medical are concerned. This has a domino effect because it means I can't focus as much time keeping up with any new developments (like the cloaking announcement on CNN that I should have had the scoop on)  So without more reporters keeping up with the news things slow down quickly

Its a catch 22 thing... you need more posts to keep the members coming :D

Quotefor that we would need a network but ten members could do it in a month.
members that worked could be paid in stock and dividends.

Yes that is why the marine motto is "We need a few good men" From my Medieval experience it is about 10% of the membership in any organization that does 90% of the 'work'

"Build it and they will come" works great, but you do need that Dirty Dozen or so to make it work.  There has to be someone that can fill in the gap when one person is busy

Even volunteer groups know this to be the case.... you need the doers to organize the workers into a useful group, or you just have chaos and people running around like headless chickens and nothing gets done

!00% True there Soma ,but will people change ?  Or maybe nobody truly wants to change, and only talk about going to change ?

But the Fact remains as the Lama says...

Change the system and the change will come naturally.  [smile]

Darlin', I was ready for that a century ago.  LOL!  Bring it on!

EDIT to add:  Without robots replacing Humans in NECESSARY work no One WANTS to do, We will still be tied into a system whereby We cannot follow Our bliss in being creative and productive.

I may not be fully clear or undertand more specifically  on what is being proposed...

That's okay  neither am I ... yet :P

QuoteBut I was wondering if maybe there is a way to set up a separate PRC forum..that allows all including Trolls... and trying to find  the more  better new suitable members and invite them into this main forum...

Yup that was the plan originally with THIS one  public areas and private areas. Problem is those that say they don't want to play with the trolls are the FIRST ones to engage them :P

QuoteIt is knowing how best to go about it.....as there may be many options...

That is why this thread is posted in the public sector... to review options :D and get INPUT

I LOVE to play with trolls.  Hones My skills and sharpens My presentation.  Adds to My repertoire of arguments...  Bring on the trolls!

if there is a way for me to be a narrator ,i volunteer.
other folks have said in the past that i have a voice for radio.
this is not saying much but i would say its comparable to alex jones,i wish i sounded like the guy from war of the worlds.

could somebody go back through and post a list of our ideas in order or something kinda organized so we can get a big picture.

we got the volunteers, lets make this happen.

Now one solution to the second forum might be to simply COPY this one over (once I figure out how  :o) so the old content will be there and then just delete the private rooms from the copy, leaving only the public stuff. That should be faster than copying individual threads  :D

Outstanding idea.    ;D

Would that mean that the
previously-pronounced 'dead' links
would be the un-dead?
