Yep, the more subscribers you have and the more ads they can run on your page and the more views of those pages..really adds up if youre in the position to use it properly...Zorgon, when ya setting that account up?, I know Im heading there now......

Well I have no intention of letting them plaster this forum with ads :D  However I suppose the other one could be done that way and just open the doors and don't moderate it at all. We had an old forum that Undo set up and then we lost admin access because that 'free' forum required you to pay after one year.  The thing self policed itself until the day they ran out of money and shut it down

It would require us visiting that forum to screen people and it would need dome content copied over so there is a draw :D

As for you tube... I don't have the time or the desire to sit there staring at a camera and babbling :P  But making quality documentaries would be good.  Undo used to run a podcast under the Ancient Futures banner for us. It was great while it lasted. If we could put that type of content to YT I am sure it would get the exposure.

Yes the money is an issue...  It's not a question of 'selling out' It's a more basic need for income for me and I know a few others here who could use it. The plumbing issue yesterday drove that point home to me very dramatically   :o

The webstore I have been working on, Zorgon's Flea Market, :P is almost ready to go. I had hoped to have it all up before xmas shopping was over but I can only get it partially up before that rush is over.

Just seems there has been one issue after another that wants to suck up time... like rain that keeps flooding my back room. :P Its supposed to be a DESERT here LOL and my plants are all confused  :o

As to FB and Tweets.  Setting up a PRC account there and point them here so they can join at the other level won't effect THIS forum. I know Thor and Amy already tweet linking to certain of their forums. That generates tons of looky loo guests that view there content... but it guest views really do nothing for PRC proper.  It may help spread a message, but it won't get you traffic :D

About 'traffic'  One thing that was good at ATS was that all links back to PRC via posted images and links to Livingmoon pages DOES generate hits that get you Google ranking.

Google ranking gets you higher on the search lists, so when people search for a topic, your site has a better chance of being found.  In fact at one time PRC pages on some subjects would be listed ABOVE the original NASA source :D

So it's not only about money... it's more about exposure. The general public is lazy. They will go to sites that are on the front page of google search.

When I was posting at ATS we had a Google page rank of 4 (ATS was 5)  That has now dropped to a 3. This ranking is based on LINKS. The more links at other websites and forums that google analyses the higher you ranking

There are several sites that do approximate ratings of your site worth like this one;

http://www.siteworthget.com/thelivingmoon.com

I do need to spend time and update the website proper with new content and reorganize the menu. I have not had time to do that lately and that does effect exposure.

As Hoss said, people like John Lear posting here are effectively "preaching to the choir"  LOL  so without the trolls there is not much interaction and it soon goes stagnant. That is why he posts so much at GLP...   Anl LOL... he gets ill for a few days and they spread the rumor he has moved on to the Soul Catcher :P

So despite the title, I am not really looking for TROLLS... but we do need more of the 'commoners' to stir the pot or we will stagnate

Originally I set up this site with the PRIVATE rooms just with that in mind... free for all in the public zones and serious stuff in the private rooms.

Problem is human nature :P  We ALL have the need to engage the lower subjects. Research is all well and good, but its not exciting nor controversial enough to stimulate debate. You have all seen this at work with Linda's clan and the religious topics

So what is the solution?  I am sure I haven't figured it out yet ... which is why I posted this in the public area....  for INPUT :D

zorgon

Now one solution to the second forum might be to simply COPY this one over (once I figure out how  :o) so the old content will be there and then just delete the private rooms from the copy, leaving only the public stuff. That should be faster than copying individual threads  :D

@somamech,drudge has a report on your tv

My Tv is ok ;)

I also have well heeled PC and an ipad in our household, so all base's are covered in that sense.  I used my TV tonight to watch a video in 1080p which I received from my pc .

The only one i would say are close to perfect is the PC...  But its pretty damn cool to test your new TV out with Bill Hicks LOL

fb and twitter, selling out or necessary evil?

They are tools, like guns and money. Tools can be used for good or bad.  One just needs to figure out how to use them for your advantage and not sell your soul :D

That is precisely what we should do. :)

That is a lot to think about :)
I know I dont post much but I am here reading at least 1 hr a day. More when i see an intresting thread.

Yes a valid point. Even at ATS the majority of people lurk and just read. There is nothing wrong with that at all, at least they are getting the info.  A 'grunt' or 'cough' once in a while so we know they are alive is good though :P

But all to often I will see a post dragging up something that has been covered in depth and its made to sound like its a new discovery.

Problem too is the search engines. There is just no way to get a really efficient one that can easily pull up the topics.  I know ATS struggled with that for years and I am pretty sure that using extensive search here does trigger database slow ups. So there is no easy fix

QuoteIf it opens up more qualified members for the inventers group I am all for it.
I have not opened up  about what I have been working on because I need to reproduce and document it.

LOL comes back to that old saying... Those that know, do, those that don't, teach.  One can adapt that to this..

Those that invent are busy inventing, not spending time in forums talking about inventing :D  It's a conundrum.

I have noticed that JLN's forum has been all but dead for months as well... And now that Dec 21st is almost here, I am sure the aftermath of nothing happening will also effect forum attendance.

They really are Tools that do break barrier's between PR people and what is going on.

I think David Emmet from Motomatters.com would say the same thing, he would not agree with our topics but he is someone that is doing it right whilst the old guard miss the point ;)

"An Expert in this day and age is only someone who voice's a point.  Someone who study's it and reports on it is a wizard. "

Somewhere in there we have to find a happy medium with all the people who bash money, the people bash their OWN life and whatever the F else.

Guy Cramar gave us a good example of disclosure as he can walk the talk and i do wholly think it is because people like us DO listen :)

Get me back to thinking about Thee Lama and his talk on SYSTEM where he said SYSTEM OK... PEOPLE must CHANGE

QuoteThee Lama and his talk on SYSTEM where he said SYSTEM OK... PEOPLE must CHANGE

!00% True there Soma ,but will people change ?  Or maybe nobody truly wants to change, and only talk about going to change ?

But the Fact remains as the Lama says...

Besides paying for 'GET MORE HITS ON YOUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL', I found out that the title is everything!. So I changed all my video titles to 'MOON ANOMALIES', etc..etc... and low and behold, I got more views...(not a lot, but more) now I'm thinking of adding quotation marks around MOON ANOMALIES and see if that addition will get more attenditon.
You should also pay attention to the description.

From what I have seen, if you include the place name, the ID of the photo and words like "structure" or "mine" it looks like it attracts more views, while words like "3D" make them go away. :)

You could use other words, but for that you would have to lie. ;D

im personally burnt out on the studying.

I hear that :D and raise ya...

I too am a little burnt out digging up the good stuff. Even my regular contacts like Russ Hamerly from Boeing have been less enthusiastic with sending stuff. What was 5-10 emails every other day has trickled to 1 every few days.

Why? Well two reasons. There has not been a lot of new stuff come to light  and the old stuff is finding an audience that says 'been there done that, what else ya got?"

John's semi retired CIA guy down under hasn't sent me anything for months... for all I know he may be dead

Quotelike when nova has a new show on pbs or similar.

Something like that would be great... do our own doco's on Navy Space dudes and Stargates. We have all the data, just need a video team to put it together and a good narrator  and find some free music that won't over power the speakers (my pet peeve even the MSM doco's are driving me nuts with the hype music)

PBS NOVA sis that doco "Astrospies"  They had all the same info we already had at the website. They beat me by 2 weeks as I was just going to post it all at ATS at the time.  I don't begrudge them... they did a great job. Point is WE COULD have done it with the right infrastructure

Quotecouldnt you get a server full of bots to google your site?

The current bots are hitting us by the gigabytes  google is tops China is second even though we are blocked in China (go figure)

Quotealex jones has his listeners google him supposedly to bring certain subjects to the forfront publicly.

Well that is what Google + FB and Twitter bring to the table. Twitter is silly IMO  people just retweeting everything... but that does generate hit counts which effect your viewer ratings WITHOUT cluttering the forum :D

Quotethe invisibility stuff im into also but im just overwhelmed by the amount of info i need to absorb just to get up to par with some of you guys.

LOL well there is that :D  I was just using that as an example :D

I will look at the rest of the replies shortly but yesterday we had a toilet back up.
You do backups of your toilet? It's your data that you should backup.  ;D

(I know, bad joke, but I just had to say it :) )

and I guess it was only naivety that I hadn't realized the place needs to turn a profit...or that it takes a passel of trolls to do that..sigh...

No Pegasus does not NEED to turn a profit... but it has a POTENTIAL to make money for starving staff :P. A strong budget could also help fledgling inventors get a kickstart, which if you read the mission page on the pegasus webpage, was the original intent so many years ago :D

But since the economy has taken a down turn with no reversal in sight, one has to look seriously at any source of income that might help people pay bills.

It's like LilEnki says... it's tools and just need to be used properly :D

Also if PRC had a real budget to hire real teams of researchers we too could travel the world and do on the spot interviews with people like Project Camelot did in their hay days

QuoteI have greatly enjoyed my time here but if it goes to trolls I probably will just quietly and very sadly  fade away

No the trolls won't get in this room... it was merely one f those sensational titles that seem to work so well to get people's attention that ArMaP was talking about :D I did forget the !!! though :D

Quote...unless of course you change gears to the fairies, elves and gemstones....those I might be able to make some contributions on.

Oh that  yeah well that will happen :D  I just need to fix links on site pages. Most likely will start it up in January

Quotemaybe that dang old 12-21 is the end...just not for what they have claimed

It will certainly put a damper on conspiracy sites  but then... PRC isn't one of 'those' :P
