I have heard the other site mentioned numerous times, but I don't think they (Y! News) is doing this for disclosure, they are trying to warrant lunacy with in such forums.

New Jersey-based journalist and photographer Ken Kramer has assembled the Curiosity photographs, adding color to give a realistic view of what the rover is seeing on the planet's surface.

But what has really caught people's attention is a raw image from NASA's photo feed that one reader on Above Top Secret has called a "Martian flower." On the posting, the commenter going by the name "Arken," writes: "The Albedo (or Reflectivity of Sun Light) of this object is very high, and its translucent appearance, the irregular conformation (like pistils) and the 'texture' of its wider areas is smooth, and seem that it is ground attached. This is the SECOND TRANSLUCENT ANOMALY detected by Curiosity in Gale Crater."

Now whats being discussed about it:

These folks are so hopeful to find any sign of life or water on Mars or anyplace else in the Universe, they will conjecture that almost anything is one of those signs. Whether it's more of the anti creationism crowd hopeful to disprove God or real science, no one but those who put forth these hopeful theories knows.

It is not too give due credit for insight as one may think, it is too devalue anything Conspiracy related with such notions.

MSM isn't coming around too accredit such things being deliberated with in such forums, they are discrediting them with the statement as sheer lunacy.
Either way, it is cool too have your website mentioned none the less, too bad it is too lay credence to the redundancy of the topic at all.

Stage two, they cite them but with dismissal and ridicule

Third, they cite them but call them redundant

Finally, they cite them favorably.

a little closer to home, like maybe northern Chili..I

I don't think it looks like Chile or like any other place on Earth.

Upload the image to a site like Imageshack  or Photobucket and post the link on Pegasus. That's what I do.

Can you elaborate on this ArMap? I understand what you are saying, and know you have quite an understanding of the Mars surface anomalies, but am curious as too  why this 'Couldn't' be a place on the Earth.
Just getting more educated here ArMap, would like too know how one tells the difference.

Looks like a crystal formation to me as well.
I pulled the photo, made a 79Mb bitmap from it, & copied this part of it.
Sorry it's the best i can do with the Neolithic software i have here

I will admit it looks like crystal formation PWM, but does this mean it is not earth oriented? I am a but confused with shape size and color, but am not a gemologist as it were...LOL

Hi Bill took some time out for family stuff, everything's as good as it can be, i guess.

As for this being a pic from Earth (i'm guessing that's what is being asked here?) i couldn't say. The colour looks like your typical NASA mars shot, but then they could all have been filtered, etc. So we are none the wiser.

I've seen plenty of crystal formations on Earth like this, like the quartz formations i saw in Scotland, got a pic here somewhere....

I would sure hesitate to call it a 'flower' though.

I wonder if that's the reason the people in Avatar were blue?

Sawn-off wires, 2 pipes broken on the right, something was obviously ripped from that black block....
Also on the plate in the middle there are 2 clean areas round the bolt holes, while the rest has a layer of dust on it.

I didn't say it "couldn't" be a place on Earth.

I cannot really explain what I notice on the photos that makes me think "this one is from Earth" or "this one is from Mars", but I think it's related to the difference in wind erosion. We know that Mars has dust storms and dust devils, something we also have on Earth, but probably because of the less dense atmosphere, things on Mars do not look as eroded as they do on Earth, we see more sharp edges on Mars rocks than we see on similar locations on Earth.

Even in locations like this, that was supposed to have been a lake bed (or something similar), we can see some rounded pebbles, resulting from being rolled by the water (or whatever that lake had), but we don't see the wind erosion results that have been active since the lake dried up. We can also see that in many places there are what I would call "puddles" of dust, something rarely seen on Earth, as the wind blows it away and only the coarser sand and pebbles remain.

I hope that makes sense.

That's true, it looks like something was removed from the rover, but that doesn't mean that the whole rover would not function.
It's like when someone steals the radio from a car an leaves all the wiring hanging: the car still works.

But good job spotting it.
