This is no longer a matter of debating whether or not we should change our ways, or try and alleviate our self-destructive habits while still holding onto the same motives. This is a matter of observing what we have created, and see that the system was built in a state of consciousness that disregarded the whole. That being said, a change in consciousness is needed. A shift from a state of mind seeking to destroy and gather for the benefit of the few, to a state of being seeking to create and contribute for the benefit of all.

As of now...

We still destroy the Earth our lives depend on for the sake of the economy.
We still use polluting oil—despite the available alternatives—for the sake of the economy.
We still allow war profiteering and kill each other for the sake of the economy.
We still treat animals as mere commodities for the sake of the economy.
We still further indebt the poor for the sake of the economy.

Not to mention that we still wait for world leaders to make the world a more harmonious and peaceful place, when the priorities and values above and below are specifically what empower them.

If you're willing, have a look at this.  I'm not going to make any argument here; as I've learned that most people aren't interested in listening.  I will simply let the numbers speak for themselves.

I'll take a peek :)
It is precisely for those reasons outlined above, that the economy is doomed to fail.
We do need an economy, but one based on durability, respect, & sharing resources. Not one based on human blood, sweat, & oil.
Since we are a product of our surroundings, it's a tall order to get us to try & change ourselves, or our surroundings, but if we work with the common goal of betterment (especially our surroundings i.e. the environment), we will & can change it,& that change in our environment will change us & so on.

It COULD be an endless upward spiral, if we wanted it to be............

ETA the e-junk facts are sickening.
I never throw anything unless it's totally unuseable, hell i fixed this mouse 3 times already ;)

Unless that asteroid gets us first :P

If the asteroid knocks out a satellite, that will add another few tons of e-junk to the pile ::)

I have a crate of old cellphones, pc boards, blackberrys etc.
You want them, Z?
If it's worth something, the gold content alone is worth it. Maybe i could sell it all for recycling & donate it to Peggy?
Something i just never thought of!

Greetings:

You're on to something here.

We, too, have a veritable plethora of old cell phones, legacy computer monitors, 25 keyboards (PC & Mac), 3 Mac 7200's within our immediate sight, a few Blue & Whites, a 9500, etc. etc.

All and more available for free donation to Peggy.

Now what?

Is there an outlet if things were shipped to Las Vegas?

Does there exist the time and inclination to extract the valuable components or should each one of us attempt dis-assembly? (plenty of Tube vids about this)

Great thread, friend petrus4 - we are looking deeply into the subject matter and will spread the word.

As Americans, we have it pretty good. it's easy to ignore whats going on in other countries. I have found its actually work to get reals news from other countries. We all know how media slants, distorts, or just plan makes up "news"

I am really interested to see what happens in Afghanistan next year they have a big election and the US is supposed to seriously reduce its forces there. seeing their new democracy taking shape is an inspiration.

I had always saw america as a vestigial of freedom and democracy. Imagine a world where the US helps counties, only if they want to be helped. If we were a democracy "coach" and we taught the principles of free markets and free speech. We could teach the blossoming nations and learn from the nation older than us. Imagine if we only had military bases in countries that had military bases on our soil! are we that insecure as a nation?

Has all this been orchestrated by one sinister group? or is it the human condition? Either way,  I'd like to think that humanity can do better!

It sure looks that way....

Amy has lots of free time and internet access.. she could sell stuff online :P  But that would require actually signing on to the system. The biggest thing in America is that there are options, but one has to chose to avail oneself of them.

In Dec I was pretty worried what I was going to do to make ends meet. Still don't have that car, (and the wife still has no job, but she did finish her online course for a business BS) but selling junque on Etsy Ebay and others is showing good returns now that are seeing the bank account slowly but surely creep up instead of down.  And I haven't evene started listing the rocks that I dug up for free. This is all just stuff collected, some from yard sales some even from trash bins  like this one that the neighbor tossed out when he moved
https://post.craigslist.org/manage/3637172368

Just sold that yesterday

Yard sales are great in the USA  no reporting of income
Craigslist is great for big items and no one tracks what you sell... just cash in hand at your door :D
Ebay Etsy and Amazon... you can make up to $20,000 a year on each before they are obligated to report to the IRS

As a general average yes it's still pretty good in the US despite all the political crap. A friend of mine who taught me stone cutting once told me about his father the farmer...  My friend was into the politics of his home land, Croatia.  To make it short he talked to his dad about the politics (under Tito at the time) His dad wanted no part of it and the wise old farmers said 'Son, no matter who the regime is, they still need to eat. I am a simple farmer... they do not bother me"

My friend realized he was right.  Moral of the story is that if you watch your football games, drink your beer and have your backyard parties you will be sheltered :P  China did the same thing... they allowed capitalism to run free SO LONG AS you went about your business and didn't mess in politic.  Look at China today... you will see capitalism in full swing AND they are selling to US

I always watch the news from BBC and NPR but lately I swing more to RT (Russian Times) They cover most everything and allow copying

These networks cover the small stories that MSM never does and they do the big stories with almost no bias and in great detail

QuoteI am really interested to see what happens in Afghanistan next year they have a big election and the US is supposed to seriously reduce its forces there. seeing their new democracy taking shape is an inspiration.

I better hurry and stock up on Lapis then... right now prices are cheap via pakistan. Once the new leaders take over prices will go back up. Currently the stuff comes from bombed out caves :P (the old mines)

The thing is in the news you will see that countries hate us... yet behind the scenes they do business with us on a huge scale and LOVE our dollars. China has billions of greenbacks. Saddam was flushed out of hiding with a hoard of American cash. All the dictators and foreign corporations have Swiss Banks and Cayman Island account stashing American cash LOL

I've kept all my electronics. I'm paranoid somebody will get something off of them.

The cosmetic thing is sickening. I don't get that. Never did.

1. Pay a fortune to put sh*t on your face
2. Get zits
3. Pay a fortune to treat zits
4. Keep paying a fortune to put sh*t on your face

Why do women wash their faces and then put crap all over them?

Anyway, cosmetics are a huge waste.
