Apparently an unknown company bought Rossi's E-Cat reactor...The customer's controller named Domenico Fioravanti, apparently reports to a man whose title is "Colonel". This suggests that the mystery customer might be DARPA, the Pentagon's extreme science wing which, as Wired.co.uk has previously reported has expressed interest in Rossi's work

Looks to be an interesting run up till this is all verified as viable,
however looks as if the Government is wanting first dibbs. No suprise there!

;D

QuoteAndrea Rossi, an engineer who has captured the attention of the scientific world with two successful tests of his "E-Cat" cold fusion reactor, arrived at the State House on Tuesday morning for two days of meetings with government officials and representatives of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Massachusetts and Northeastern University.

Mr. Rossi's reactor, if successfully proven and developed, has the potential to change the way the world deals with energy, and I'm pleased that he's willing to discuss basing its production in Massachusetts.

Rossi's E-Cat reactor, which has thus far been developed and tested in the Italian city of Bologna, is intended to produce large amounts of energy from a reaction between nickel and hydrogen. The reaction produces heat which then heats water to produce steam, from which electricity can be generated. Importantly, the process creates little to no radiation, a major problem for the nuclear fission process currently used to produce power in reactors around the world.

Quote There is, however an air of mystery surrounding the whole event, mainly because the customer who bought the plant has not been named, and specifically requested that their identity remained secret. The test was carried out by a consultant for the company and this person, named Domenico Fioravanti, was satisfied enough with what he tested to make a purchase on behalf of the customer for an unspecified amount of money. Apparently the thing that convinced the customer that Rossi's technology is indeed a new form of nuclear energy (Rossi characterizes it as LENR — low energy nuclear reaction) was that for 5 hours, the E-Cat plant ran in self-sustaining mode — without any input heat — all the while producing an average of 470 kW of thermal energy.

In addition to this consultant doing the test, there were a number of invited guests in attendance, including journalists from the Associated Press, NyTeknik and Pure Energy System News. The AP reporter, technology writer Peter Svennson, has not yet published his article, but NyTeknik and PESN have already published reports.

NyTeknik reports that now the first sale has been made, Bologna University's physics department will begin a two year research and development program surrounding Rossi's technology, and also Rossi will be entering into negotiations to start a similar R&D program at Uppsala University in Sweden.

Somamech

The first part of me says cool!

The second part of me say's (MIT) ohhh no

The third part of me say's controlled leak due to media present.

The fourth part of me say's that I made plastic housing's for electric vehicle's to do a good old fashion "Fill me Up" at the gas station.

5 ...Time for sleep, mooned out for one day  ;D

Somamech,

So true, especially that forth one there.

I started tracking this story when I learned DARPA may
be involved. Will follow up as I learn more!  8)

Andrea Rossi may have his doubters, detractors and skeptics, but the client for whom he demonstrated his 1MW e-Cat energy system apparently isn't one of them. Not only did the mysterious client take delivery of Rossi's first 1MW heat energy production system, but ordered a dozen more for use in cold, remote locations. That's an order worth $24 million.

While Rossi isn't at liberty to reveal who the client is -- and here speculation has run rampant -- he is not barred from talking about the results of the demonstration, witnessed by a select group of media in Bologna, Italy on October 28, 2011.

As far as the client is concerned, he/she/they are satisfied that the technology works, producing low-grade steam via a heretofore little understood physical process often identified as 'cold fusion' that somehow generates anomalous amounts of heat by combining nickel powder, hydrogen gas and a proprietary catalytic material that when heated to a critical point, goes into a self-sustaining reaction that isn't chemical in nature. Exactly what goes on at the atomic level is still a matter of debate, but Signor Rossi is confident that he knows what's happening and as soon as his patent is granted, he tells EV World, he will offer his explanation. Until then, for obvious reasons, he's keeping this knowledge to himself and a very small circle.

Fox News Reports that Ing. Swanson Paul D. (Space and Naval Warfare Systems- US Navy) is possibly the customer.

Quote
Allan hinted on his blog that an unnamed "customer" of Rossi's device is a military organization that starts with an N. Rossi said this customer measured and verified the test -- and told FoxNews.com that Paul Swanson with the U.S. Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems unit (SPAWAR) can vouch for the demonstration.

FoxNews.com spoke with a man at SPAWAR who identified himself as Swanson, and who said only that he was "not in a position to talk to the press." Several other sources within the Navy and the Pentagoneither declined to comment or did not return messages.

The Navy has long been interested in cold fusion research. At a 2009 meeting of the American Chemical Society, chemist Pamela Mosier-Boss of SPAWAR revealed what she and colleagues claimed was the first clear visual evidence that low-energy nuclear reaction (LENR) devices work.

And, Rossi names Swanson as attended at the longest E-Cat test.

Quote Looking the list of participants to the E-Cat test of 6 October, I think that are people of all respect.
Not just the usual famous known scientists, but also unexpected and surprising new scientists (at least they seems to me) ...
