Ye Olde Second Amendment doesn't mention hunting, ex cons or even crazies because no matter who you are, there was always a better than even chance it would be our own government, military and police we'd have to defend against--should the unthinkable happen, and they become corrupt.

EVERYONE has an inherent right to self-preservation.  I'll break it down even further ( for Pimander et al)--we each have the right to arm ourselves sufficiently enough to defend against whatever our own military capabilities are...and THEN some! Like it or not, self preservation doesn't adhere to rule books or insecurity play books generated by control freaks, idiots or those too scared to think for their selves.
