Man-made super-flu could kill half humanity

24 November, 2011

QuoteA virus with the potential to kill up to half the world's population has been made in a lab. Now academics and bioterrorism experts are arguing over whether to publish the recipe, and whether the research should have been done in the first place.

The virus is an H5N1 bird flu strain which was genetically altered to become much more contagious. It was created by Ron Fouchier of the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, who first presented his work to the public at an influenza conference in Malta in September.

Fouchier said the strain circulates in animals, particularly birds, but rarely affects humans.
In the ten or so years since bird flu first emerged in Asia, fewer than 600 cases have been reported in humans. But the H5N1 strain is particularly vicious, killing roughly half of patients diagnosed with it. What stops it from becoming a major threat to public health is that it does not readily transmit from human to human. Or at least it didn't – until now.

QuoteResearchers in Fouchier's team used ferrets – test animals which closely mimic the human response to influenza – and transmitted H5N1 from one to another to make it more adaptable to new hosts. After 10 generations, the virus had mutated to become airborne, which means ferrets became ill from merely being near other diseased animals

FERRETS????  This Fouchier guy is INSANE!!!

QuoteA genetic study showed that the new, dangerous strain had only five mutations compared to the original one, and all of them were earlier seen in the natural environment – just not all at once. Fouchier's strain is as contagious as the human seasonal flu, which kills tens of thousands of people each year, but is likely to cause many more fatalities if released.

"I can't think of another pathogenic organism that is as scary as this one," Paul Keim, a microbial geneticist who has worked on anthrax for many years, told Science Insider. "I don't think anthrax is scary at all compared to this."

QuoteNow Keim, who chairs the US National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB), and other members of the body, have a very difficult decision to make. Fouchier wants his study to be published. So does virologist Yoshihiro Kawaoka, who led similar research in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the University of Tokyo, and reached comparable results. And it is up to NSABB to give them the green light.

Oh great... lets just publish this insanity so anyone can duplicate this. And they call these idiots 'scientists'? I think they need to be injected with their own bug and see how well they survive.

Quote"It's just a bad idea for scientists to turn a lethal virus into a lethal and highly contagious virus. And it's a second bad idea for them to publish how they did it so others can copy it," believes Dr. Thomas Inglesby, a bioterrorism expert and director of the Center for Biosecurity of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

For crying out loud.  There are secrets of life to learn and these bozo's are spending time on how to make a crappier life.  As though we need this crap.   >:(

Can't help but think though that Big Pharma push this news out,  then there has to be some action from Governments, and then Monsanto make a swag like they did with the last Flu.

To be honest I do not know if Monsanto were behind the last Flu, but I would hedge my bets they could be through a myriad of subsidiaries globally, and are behind a lot of these of "circle jerks against life" in general.  Their track record against our little pal microbes in the soil speak volumes.

I wish people would stop getting the flu shot,  I always feel a bit "exposed" when I am around them after the fact.

Personally I have had a respiratory issue I am just now starting to shake since the first of the year...........

F@@@ the shot...........

 >:(   Have these guys gone mad?

I could ask what is the point...probably bioterrorism would be the only
answer. This type of medical experimentation should be illegal, I guess
that would not stop them, yet maybe they would not be able to openly
profit from holding terror threats in hand!

50+ years ago they were mad...this has been upgraded by orders of magnitude to diabolically genocidal.

Where is the BATMAN when we need him?  >:(

i did know there are some real crazies out there..this is just one

i didn't know
ferrets – test animals which closely mimic the human response to influenza –

and this morning this little gem added to my not getting a shot of any kind..yikes
i don't want to even guess what eslse you'd get in these flu shots..

China prepares for big entry into vaccine market
BEIJING – The world should get ready for a new Made in China product — vaccines.

China's vaccine makers are gearing up over the next few years to push exports in a move that should lower costs of lifesaving immunizations for the world's poor and provide major new competition for the big Western pharmaceutical companies.

However, it may take some time before some parts of the world are ready to embrace Chinese products when safety is as sensitive an issue as it is with vaccines — especially given the food, drug and other scandals the country has seen.

Still, China's entry into this market will be a "game changer," said Nina Schwalbe, head of policy at the GAVI Alliance, which buys vaccines for 50 million children a year worldwide.

"We are really enthusiastic about the potential entry of Chinese vaccine manufacturers," she said.

China's vaccine-making prowess captured world attention in 2009 when one of its companies developed the first effective vaccine against swine flu — in just 87 days — as the new virus swept the globe. In the past, new vaccine developments had usually been won by the U.S. and Europe.

China with all the Qigong Research, Herbal History are now entering into the market with crap, and as I know first hand they wont even make good crap.

Little guy go for it  >:(

I have always said "Keep an eye on China and Libya" for many years. The most startling and unsettling thing's that surface are those that are seeking some form of global dominance. Here is a story that does make one cringe at the thought. If it is factual, what are the implication's?

QuoteGeorgetown Students Expose China's Nuclear Weapons Secrets

QuoteThe study is yet to be released, but already it has sparked a congressional hearing and been circulated among top officials in the Pentagon, including the Air Force vice chief of staff.

I also still believe the Chinese have other new technologies for space travel and dominance type of profiled status information that will eventually rock us on our heels.
I'd like to believe that we are living in a world of communication and understanding, but so far the story has been anything but a "Fairytale" thus far.
