Dog Face on Mars.  This has gotta be Photoshop

Greetings esteemed Member Eightman:

One might consider presenting a more compelling case than a mere link to BIN.   :P

Obviously it is not what you might want to project that it might be.

Who cares?

ArMaP will destroy this weak postulation with a clear image in a heartbeat.    :D

You have nothing better to do than come up with tripe like this?

Why waste anyone's time with inane posts - unless you have an agenda?

Actually, we thought better of you, considering your track record here.    ;)

Perhaps we might review that.    :P

Right now the only problem I have with the information provided is, there is no link available to the "actual" Rover photos. There are seemingly obvious Mars crater pics taken by a Rover, with the head, in link provided. But I suppose most anyone can do whatever to a photo of their own. We need a link to the NASA website for the Rover sol day picture proof.

I searched for one, and could not find it.

I posted it here because I assumed you-all had a good source for verified NASA photos wherein one could quickly depose of such issues.

Perhaps there is a sort of 'Snopes' site where such things can be examined.  When I read about a conspiracy, I go there to look for quick contrary details.

As for BIN, that is a case of wheat vs chaff, admittedly - and much the same for others.  Still, every so often something interesting pops up.

Good comeback. What is a 'verified' NASA photo? A photo that NASA releases that hasn't been Photoshopped?

Thanks for the idea, we'll check it out.

Just checking to see if you will stick to your guns when presenting something for discussion.    ;)

Very good, and GOLD for your credible reply.

Thank you for your time, consideration and participation and we look forward to more.

It took me more than a heartbeat. ;)

I couldn't find photos from the "right eye" camera, so I couldn't make an anaglyph to get an idea of depth, but I think that the "Dog Face" is made of two rocks, the lower part of the "Face" closer to the camera than the upper part.

This is a colour image that was made with photos from the L2, L5 and L7 filters (so they are not close to true colour).

Interesting.  So it appears to be 'real' in the sense that it may be a genuine photo but without considering the 3-D aspect. Pareidolia strikes again.

Thank You

One more question, please.  There is a fellow called 'Wretch Fossil' (???) who puts a great many Mars photos on the Net together with interesting assertions as to what supposedly are.  Given the ambiguity of his images (at least to my eyes), I am inclined to think his photos are undoctored.

Does anyone have experience with this person as to his honesty and accuracy?

No, it's the first time I read his/her name.  :)

ArMaP, can you gives us the Rover and sol day of this photo, so we can go to the NASA files?

Sure. :)

Thanks ArMaP!! My primary reason for wanting that info was, so it could be shown directly that this anomaly was/is in the actual Rover photos, as opposed to someone photoshopping it.

Of course, to me it does look pretty much like some type of statue head. The six/seven o'clock lower piece of its face appears to be broken off, but otherwise there is a pretty good face there. It must be "pretty good", for some to claim or offer the possibility of "photoshopping". Nope, it is right there in the Rover photo!!!

Might should consider moving this OP/thread to the Mars Anomalies Board???

You could very well be correct its got some photochop on it.

I clicked the image link to the dog image and thats beyond my eyeballs scan to pull out the dog man rock image. But I will say, the image of that rubble sure has the markings of a weapons blast crater and the surrounding terrain has the residuals of being under water at some time.
