Here in the great smoky Rocky Mountains, people weight themselves in pounds, but medications are calculated in mg/kg of body weight.  When I worked at the hospital, we had to weigh anyone who was admitted.  We had staff members who refused to weigh people in kg, because the staff member couldn't understand how much that meant in pounds.  That equates to an inability to read and copy a displayed number from a piece of equipment.

I have to say Shasta that your experience doe's highlight one thing quite well, and that is the ability to adapt :D

I have had some file's from Boeing where they needed to be converted from Inches to Millimeter's which rendered me quite shocked they work in that format.  Luckily the software converted between the two measure standard's... but all the same I was surprised!

On the rare occasion when I do have to convert from inch to mm at work it's quite funny when you forget to tick the box and say "WTF how in hell is that going to fit in our build envelope".  At that point after some profanity one realise's that one forgot to convert from inch to mm :D

Ahh yeah I know what you mean ;)

But what is 22nm in imperial ?  This is the manufacturing process of the latest Intel processor's :D

I could almost start a another thread about the English Language, and the discrepancy's of those that speak (Spout?) it fluently and not understand what the other is saying LOL

Like I said.. this is in the humor section and it's only meant as some good fun ;)

HARRP got to me on this thread :D

LOL I remember that... I remeber laughing at how a simple 1-10 number system confused an entire country to the point they had to revert. I always wondered how the hell did they work with hexadecimal programming then?  :P

just found this, I agree with Elvis on this one but we (the UK) still flit back and forth
between every system there is. it's crazy.especially with nuts & bolts stuff.

you occasionally need different thread sizes for different applications but the size
of the tool SHOULD be metric. Then there are all these fixing type's its mental!
allen key, torx, slot, cross head, phillips, pin torx, triangle, tapered square, offset 3's,6 sided
5 sided, tech head, plasi head, internal, external, male, female on and on. it's too much!
(lot of slang amongst those but you get the idea)
it's a conspiracy I tell ya to milk the tool trades for loot.
