I really have no words for how amazing this is apart from music being subjective, but in this case... this is beyond doubt something amazing.  :)

WOW Soma.... never seen that before!  :o

I am really impressed, and on the one hand surprised by how much John Bonham I hear in there (vice-versa of course), but not really when you you think about it, John was obviously well educated on the masters in his field who had influenced him.

Elements of Buddy Rich also surface in John's work as well. I remember Johnny Carson once asking Buddy what he thought of this new music coming out these days and if he liked any of it. He responded "Well that kid John Bonham seems to know how to hit the skins."  ;D

Here is a clip of Buddy that could well be the night I saw.

Thanks for sharing that clip of Joe! Dood was a monster!

Likewise thanks A51  ;D

You gave me some names to check out there mate!

I only came across Joe recently this year through that video and thought straight away "Thats how I always wanted to play drums"  (16 years later lol)

It wasn't till later that I realised he was the drummer in that famous song.   :o

Showing my age here (35) as I spent a lot of time in my "Well Spent Youth" with Miles in that period where he turned the back on the Jazz and went a bit mad which was well before my time, and greatly appreciated in my time amongst the few..now the many I guess as I don't get out anymore  ;D

The recordings are brilliant too!  no multi-mic placement... just a a coupole of mics and sheer talent that can play in any time signature they feel.  Alien Music ?  ;D

For a new guy drummer with unique style, check this dude:

The band is nothing special, but the drummer sure shows an interesting passion... :)

O man El these are talented folk no doubt.  But heck they became lead guitarist's in band practise with them sticks.  ;D

Joe had Musical Style beyond technique  8)

Captain Dave

Here's a couple things I created a while back, nothing Great, but they were first attempts - in other words, I just played and recorded and this is what came out. I played all the different instruments sperately, recording one over the next... (I recorded them under the name "King of Exile") Twas fun though!  :)

Long past due in this discussion of great drummers to mention of course master drummer John Bonham to the list -

Elvis Hendrix

"Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration – that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."

Neil Peart always leaves me speechless.

Thanks for putting Neil up E, saved me the trouble.  8)

Ditto on always leaving me speechless as well.

I have been attending Rush tours since the Signals tour. Neil is a WOWser every time.

His various influences and styles such as South American and African etc. are always brilliantly displayed.

Here's a recent revelation from the man himself -

Amon Tobin.

VERY interesting Elvis! Reminds me -a lot- of what Roger is doing with new technology on his current Wall tour.

Very cool thanks for sharing.  8)
