FALSE: A satirical article set off the rumor

Rumors spread on the web and email circuit after an article by The Liberty Paper bore this headline: "Obama to College Students: Do Not Celebrate Fourth of July." 

"Peer back into history and ask yourselves — Was a revolution truly necessary?" TheLibertyPaper.org quotes Obama as saying. "Great Britain may not have had it completely right, but they had many things right ..."

A student in the uneasy crowd asked Obama to clarify:  "Are you saying we should not celebrate the birth of our country?"

"I believe we should celebrate where we are going. Celebrate moving forward," Obama is quoted by TheLibertyPaper.org as saying. "Not where we have been."

It's satire

A label at the end of the short article reads in all capital letters: "POLITICAL SATIRE." It's totally false, agrees the rumor-busting site Snopes. It's all made up — there was no such speech.

But not everyone reads to the end of articles, however short. For every hour Americans spend online, only two minutes is spent reading news, according to Experian, which doesn't leave much time to absorb details like "satire" labels, judging by this email collected by Snopes about this false rumor: "TheLibertyPaper.org posted that Obama made a speech to a group of college students today, that we should not celebrate July 4th and the separation from Brittain (sic) ... Please tell me this isn't true, that he didn't really say this. If he did, we're ALL in trouble!"

Whether it is true or not, one absolutely cannot base a final determination upon what "snopes" says about a thing. Their credibility has long been at political suspect and doubt.

The really sad thing about this OP subject is................Obama has said enough, and done enough, to give anyone who wants to understand him for WHO HE REALLY IS, the clear knowledge that this is something he more or less is saying very loudly to the world about America.

His overt actions are the physical results of his thoughts and desires for this country. Based upon his many actions, celebrating the 4th of July is way less important to him than the "CHANGE" he so dearly desires to get fully implemented, while in the Presidential office.

ETC, ETC,.................................................................!! There is no end to this as long as he remains in office     -impeachment needs to be the course, on the basis of his illegal actions in governing.

yeah its true... the Mulberry trees are okay with the heat so are the Canna Lilies.   They seem to do fine in the shade, half shade and fulls sun  though the ones in the sun have brown edges now

The veggies? well I will go take some pictures and maybe you can tell me how green things are

I may just have to give up and only plant stuff that likes the heat. Geraniums and my gooseberries and red currents  moved them into the shade but they didn't make it

As to Obama... meh he said it to the troops   I don't trust SNOPES, but yeah maybe it was 'satire'.  Isn't everything a big comedy act these days?

Dang pool went green... had to get the pool chlor guy out and add more chlorine... seems with the heat it burned off almost all of it in a week. Just got back in from vacuuming it and tomorrow will have to tear down the filter to clean it. Usually only need to do that in fall
