IMO, a chatting group is just another name for "forum". The primary difference I can thik og, is on the forum we have specific subjected posted, and can quickly go to any we are interested, and post a "chat"!

In chatting, I would assume that one goes to a chat room, and eitherlooks at what has already been said, and posts a "chat", or waits until someone does say something, and one chats back a reply.

Sounds like just another different pile of words that say, "let's get together and talk about subject were are mutually interested in"! HUH?

If I were going to "chat", I would go to Facebook. There one at least get to choose "friends" one wants to "chat" with.

Here, one does not have a choice, and the first thing you know, one would probably find him/her self "chatting" with "Z"! hahahahahahahahahahaha

The biggest disadvantages of chat rooms are;

1) They suck up a lot of time (so do IM programs)

If you only have a couple people on your list its not so bad but when you have hundreds all around the world in many time zones, you cannot answer them all and still get anything done

2) Too many people in a room and the conversation falls off the page

As it is I can't even keep up with all the posts here

We thinks the idea of this chat room is a free-for-all - no rules.

If you do not like the idea, don't log in.

That's what is going to happen with me, I will only log in if somebody needs me to test something.

Sometimes such thoughts don't get said.

My problem is that I always wait for other people to talk before I do my talking, and that only works in the presence of the other person or if the conversation is not in real time, like in a thread.

That's one of the reasons I don't like to talk on the telephone.

That's another of my problems (although not the main reason for not being interested in chat rooms), as most people is from the US, they choose times that are good for them but too late for me, even if I go to sleep at 2 AM.

As almost all other things, a chat room is a tool, but it's not the kind of tool I use and it's used for a kind of work I do not usually do.

I can see and understand everything being said of the 'Negatives' of a chat with in a forum such as Peggy, but yet do I see anything positive as far as being able to get a research group together and stay in contact via the chat with  in said researches.

A chat area can be fundamental with in our little community, and for the most part, it is always going to be a 'Personal Preference' regardless. If there is such a bad example of a terrible chat scenario, it would have to be something as massive as the groups at ATS, but even they have it set up for one to get private chat rooms going for the serious minded. Or the PM/IM to chat privately from one to the other.

It is not a waste of time or a bad idea, even if it is to say 'Hello' to a fellow member or to get a serious research group going. There are actually very few dedicated here that are here on a daily basis, and with that being said, almost all , if not all of them are contributor's willing to go the extra mile for such things as disclosure or the research involved. It also gives a person a point of support if they are trying to find something with in such research and have hit dead ends or cannot seem to find what they were searching for, it is a great medium for not only Comradery but an open line of communication real time, whether it is a set time and place meeting of the minds or a jump in chat to see if someone has anything to assist with in the understanding and give some research help.

A good example of this is Ama's up and coming interview Radio show, we are utilizing to both chat and prepare for the best we can to give support and give ideas too better be on the same wave length of understanding. When these scenario's happen, we are direct representatives of the PRC family, we must be confident with what we say and discuss. And there for personify what the dedicated member's with in our group will confess to openly during such event's "Our Web Home is Pegasus research Consortium and The Living Moon." And that is important and vital to get as right as rain.

Though we are only human, and provided we have this avenue to prepare, it is for the greater good of both the individual and the PRC image as a whole. IMHO.

Chat is and can be a very good thing, but if you are not into it, well, Dems Dah Beans!!

im all for classing the place up all we can.as long as it doesnt step on zorgons toes.i too want to see our dreams succeed for all the members.
its kinda like zorgons home first .so in no way do i want to offend him .

but i do agree having lots of different aspects to pegasus could be beneficial.
especially back when my fone crashed.i lost pegasus until i found sarge and he linked me.i was freakin.lol.
i dont know how to use chat .so a primer would be helpful as how to use symbols and navigate.also is there a way to link email or something so i can be instant messaged.that way i can jump in anytime someone shows up to chat.

Skype works great also, free audio (even mobiles) and video 1 on 1, if you want group video, you have to subscribe, which i might do, a lot of the SensTest conferences happened there

If so, that would be the preferable chat room to use.

and post coherent responses/questions to Amy LIVE on the show.
