How much more do We need to convince Us?

"If the universe is made of mostly Dark Energy...can We use it to run Our cars?"

"If You want peace, take the profit out of war."

The problem with propaganda is that we never know if we are looking at propaganda or counter-propaganda.

Of all the images I have seen from Egypt I never saw something that looked like these, the signs written in English are extremely rare on the images I have seen.

Convince us of what?

As if in a replay of China's Tiananmen Square in 1989, an unarmed young man stands defiantly in front of a tank in the Egyptian city of Ismailia and dares it to shoot.

This is the Muslim Brotherhood in all of its ugly power.

The real question remains unanswered. Why did
Obama fund them?

It is not like it was a secret who they were, what they stood
for and what they intended to do.

The Arc of Instability strikes again.

Convinced of what, Amy?  When the Muslims don't get what they want, they start killing people.  It's fairly open and shut, as far as I'm concerned.

You can replace the demand for Batman to take off his mask, there, with a demand for the instatement of Sharia law.

You can call this Western backed if you want, but I won't.  I think there was definitely Western backing to get rid of Mubarak, absolutely; but the Muslims supported that, because he was relatively secular.  They're angry about Morsi having been deposed, however; not because he was not dictatorial, (he was) but because he was aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood, so the Muslims thought they were potentially going to get Sharia with him in power.

That is the Islamic modus operandi.  They get what they want, when they want it, or they engage in murder until they do.  They use murder as a form of coercion.

The reason why Islam continues to make inroads, and conquer countries, has nothing to do with either their numbers, or the religion's supposed appeal.  It is purely, solely, and exclusively the fact that they are willing to kill people until they get what they want; and the rest of us, because we do not have the same level of barbarism, are unwilling to engage in the same level of violence.  The entire basis of the continued survival and perpetuation of the religion, is murder.

That can be said about many countries. :)

It sure can, Its what we (UN) are doing on a daily basis. In Afghan, Iraq and anywhere else we decide to stick our fat fascist noses.

Or did you miss that Petrus?

No, I didn't; the only difference is, that the Islamists are usually a bit more open about it.  The American government loves engaging in mass murder; they just usually attempt to offer sociopathic justifications.  I'm not saying that makes the latter more desirable, by any means; but it does make the Islamic approach more visible, I'm sure in the American government's case, that obfuscation is a big part of the point.

The Muslims don't try and lie about it or falsely justify it, so much.  It's just, "Do what we want, or we'll kill you."  In a sense, you could almost call that refreshing.  At least they're more honest.

No, you didn't read me incorrectly, in the sense that in my first post in this thread, I was not actually thinking about the American government at all, consciously.  You and Armap reminded me of that; hence my clarification in the later post.

So that is quite all right. :D

This subject illustrates the amazing mindset of the western world in regard to tolerance and compassion, even if that is superficial.  We may easily fall into the thought that people are selfish and our elite unresponsive but that isn't entirely accurate, as the reaction to these events would suggest.

I recently read a political blog that said a view is emerging about the Middle East summed up by "to hell with them".  I was astonished!!!!!  WHERE HAS THIS VIEWPOINT BEEN HIDING?  Why can't we throw away the bizarre (to me) paradox of Going To War And Slaughtering Lots Of People For A Really Idealistic Reason?

How blind can people be?  When do you ever read an update on Egypt that STARTS WITH the basic truths that they can't feed themselves, their nation is broke, illiteracy is widespread, and they are beggars internationally, living off cash sent by the US or Saudi Arabia?  Hello? Anybody home?

The Arab nations are worse than Nazis because at least the Nazis left behind something to work with (Ordnung muss sein). Likewise, Imperial Japan.  They weren't pedophiles (Afghanistan) . They didn't offer instructions on How To Properly Beat Women (Egypt Imans, the Koran, etc.)  They weren't funded by opium and kidnapping.

Look, the best example of human culture on the globe are the social democracies of Northern Europe AND THEY USED TO BE RAPISTS, THIEVES AND MURDERERS like the Vikings.  I understand that cultures can change but folks,.......... the Arab Muslim cultures seem to resist every attempt at betterment and refuse to stop spinning violent fantasies about How Great Things Were In The 14th Century.

The Israelis are a**holes but they have a point: chop up the Middle East into little warring pieces and WALK AWAY.

Did everyOne miss that this suggests that (some) of the "protest" pics and vids are done by crisis actors?

ArMaP, You may have a point.  Maybe the crisis actors did this vid to merely suggest the action there is staged...

Well that was quite a rant.

I think I may have read your book.

"how to sort out the Arabs and the Nazis were really ok"

That was you wasn't it?

No, the Nazis were NOT OK.  They were mass murdering fanatics that gave us a whole lot of technology.

There was a brief moment of self reflection in Arab culture after 9/11 in which some of them publically asked, "why don't we write any great new literature?  Win any Nobel prizes for science? Produce any advanced technology?" etc.

Exactly so.  I will say that Iran is very interesting as to potential evolution.  Despite all the turbans and morality police, they might be going in a positive direction.  Could turn out like the Vikings.

The Arabs? Not so much.
