Cross your fingers that the U.S. doesn't see any big outbreaks of food poisoning or measles and that flu season doesn't kick into gear early, at least during the government shutdown that has idled most work at the nation's public health agencies.

More than half of staff at agencies overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services – some 40,000 employees — were slated for furlough under contingency staffing plans outlined by HHS.

That includes about 8,700 of the nearly 13,000 workers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and about 6,600 of the nearly 15,000 employees at the Food and Drug Administration.

It means the government's daily work of tracking salmonella outbreaks, monitoring measles epidemics and inspecting worksites to ensure that food and drugs are safe has ground to a halt, the few officials still on the job told NBC News.

"The vast majority of CDC's activities will shut down completely," said Barbara Reynolds, a CDC spokeswoman. "Our public health response will be slowed."

I have ZERO medical coverage right now... I cannot yet afford to go to a doctor beyond the $60.00 every two weeks to get my legs wrapped (that is a good deal actually as it includes the wrap)

So why is everyone against SOME health care, even if it isn't perfect?

Has anyone actually read the bill yet?

Obamacare aka hillarycare has provisions to search your home from what I read on the internutz. Also, it's mandatory you have there health insurance plan unless your illegal, religious and native american for exemptions from buying it. AND if you work in washington dc your exempt & not required to buy into it.

ITS A TAX if you refuse to go along with the plan. Rates are bigger than big from sources reporting on the plan.

Because it's MANDATORY, THEY would control health care and records, and I calculated (twice) what someOne would have to pay that is not in a state with extended medicaid (like GA) who has zero income.

First calc gave Me nearly $6,000; second was only $2,800ish.  But still... WHERE are They going to get those funds from someOne with NOTHING?

Let us say you earn 7k a year, well go ahead
and sign up to comply with the law...it will only
cost you 6k for a mid range plan.

No matter whether you choose to spend your entire years income
on a Fed regulated bogus health care plan...that it makes no sense
financially or even on a survival basis is not the issue...you need to
do it so that Obamacare can look viable for a few years until it breaks
the back of private practice. (this was the plan all along)

Be prepared to share all the private details of your intimate life with
your new Obamacare doctor too, he has to report it back to the NSA.

Do You Qualify for Free Coverage Under ObamaCare? Find Out Here

Under the Affordable Care Act, people who have income between 100-133% of the federal poverty level will either be exempt from the mandate, or will be automatically enrolled in their state's Medicaid program (free coverage paid for by the government).
