What Are These Giant Streaks in the Philadelphia Sky?

Explain Those Giant Streaks
in the Philly Sky?

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but while in West Philadelphia, I noticed these gigantic lines in the sky over Philadelphia. Never seen anything quite like this before, so I'm hoping that someone out there has a good explanation. Because right now, it feels a bit like the beginning of some sci-fi movie where terrible things happen to the planet.

And as soon as I posted about it, the conspiracy theories, practical explanations, silly observations and wild guesses started rolling in. Was this some secret government activity? 

So....just what are these giant "contrails"?

Cool shadows. 

One thing of note, this appears to be sunrise or sunset so the sunlight is cutting through those east-west aligned contrails at a very steep angle greatly increasing the amount of light they were able to block onto the underlying clouds.  It's why the shadow effect was so strong.  Had that been noon with the sun above you likely wouldn't have seen any shadow.

This isn't uncommon.  I've seen it several times when I lived in Seattle at sunset.   More interestingly, I've climbed Mt. Fuji 3 times.   I saw the shadows of contrails on the clouds below from up above!  It all comes down to an east-west aligned contrail and a very steep angle of light penetration. (Creating a lack of penetration.)

They are SHADOWS of contrails/chemtrails

What you have is low clouds with the contrails above those clouds...

In your second picture you see a gap in the clouds the shadow is gone but you can see the contrails through the gap.

That is actually a perfect picture to show the effect

Or it could be two stealth craft.theres a northrop grumman commercial that shows an invisble plane splitting the clouds.

this guy was able to form a cloud around his hv equipment plus he was able to create a corona of plasma.
So the reason i show this is if they can do that why couldnt they do just the opposite using electronic means if necessary.one way as cloud camouflage and and high speed as a shield to expel air past it at fast speeds.

Or it could just be sun light as the other member said.just a theory.

I could not find any cloud seperation. just darker clouds with a mix of colors.
It does make for a scary deuem print. Can you see the eagle coming out of the sun and the haunted house with the punisher head on the right side.
