An inflatable sex toy has been filmed being launched into space, in a test of its resilience in unforgiving conditions before being catapulted back to Earth.

The doll, named Missy, was hooked to a hydrogen-filled balloon and began her mission at Lake Tahoe, on the border of California and Nevada.

She shot towards the cosmos at a speed of 426 metres per minute when, at an altitude of 31,090 metres, her balloon burst and she shot straight back down to the ground.

Where no doll has gone before :)

The stunt – which was organised by adult entertainment site CNV.com – was captured on a camera attached to her balloon, resulting in quite bizarre footage that has been released on YouTube.

The firm provided her with an outfit including a mini skirt and halter-neck top, which might have even helped her withstand 'cosmic ray radiation 100x of that on the earth's surface.'

Despite being modified to endure the harsh unearthly conditions, she lost her left and right arms, and right leg, as they ripped off on her descent.

Blow me!
"Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration – that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."
